What's up guys, this is my first post here and I'm looking for some good help and advice regarding phenibut. This will be my second time going through withdrawals and I'm trying to find a way to make it a little less miserable this time. I take phenibut for sleep problems and anxiety quite often, but as you know dependency and tolerance grow so fast with this nootropic. For me, it works better than any other drug for restful sleep and the afterglow is amazing.

My first withdrawal lasted about 7 days and peaked at day 5. I went for 6 days without one blink of sleep and was pretty strung out. I'm currently up to 5 grams at night in the form of capsules (10 500mg capsules). I was stupid and went cold turkey the first time I went off it and it was pretty miserable.

I'm designing a taper schedule to last a little over 2 weeks to minimize the effects of the withdrawal at 5/4/4/4/3.5/3.5/3/3/2.5/2/2/1.5/1/1/0.5/0.5/0.5 - All of these doses taken once a day at 7pm.

I have access to 5mg ambien (zolpidem tartrate) to help with sleep once things get bad.
Also, I take fish oil and multivitamins daily with a high protein diet.

I'm considering going to my doctor this week with the hope of getting a bezo or other medication. So far I've heard Gabapentin, Prozac, and Baclofen are good options to help withdrawal.

I've heard kava is a great help as well.

Do you have any suggestions to make it go a little smoother than last time?

I'm a busy guy with college and work and a harsh withdrawal would set me wayyy back.

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions,

I'm new to phenibut. I had trouble sleeping when I did it on consecutive days. Kratom and Kava helped me get some sleep. Although kava is even more hit or miss than kratom for me. I actually have better results if I chew on the kava for as long as I can. Each time I eat kava I get different results so idk.

I would imagine ambien helping a bunch, maybe just get some cardio or some sort of exercise in to get some endorphins going. Might not make you tired enough to sleep but it will sure make you feel better.

How long and how much phenibut did you take for you to start to get bad withdrawals? It turned bad for me after consecutive days, now I'm taking 2 days in between doses to see how my body responds.

with phenibut i noticed withdrawals around the 24 hour mark..very low mood and motivation, no energy...what basically knocked 90% of the withdrawals out was a small(300 mg) dosage of neurontin...i took 2 small doses of neurontin a day for 3-4 days and after that i had problems sleeping but that was it...i didnt even taper off p[henibut, just came right off a 2-3 gram per day habit..

Good to know, that makes sense since phenibut is basically GABA that cross the BBB if I'm not mistaken. Is neurontin script only?

OP how did the taper plan go? I think I was thinking about just plain GABA belfort, which is why I was confused that it is script only. Anyone know how GABA compares to neurontin?

Since GABA doesn't cross the BBB in any significant amount, it is virtually inactive. Neurontin is a weird med. Its technically an analog of GABA but its got some odd activity IMO. I'm not a fan of it that's for sure. Builds a tolerance pretty quickly and causes GABA downregulation so it leads to some pretty wicked withdrawal.

^ wicked withdrawals indeed, but easily tapered IMO.

But nothing as bad as phenibut....I've withdrawn from them all and phenibut has the worst and most terrifying WD of any drug...benzos, opioids, GBL, you name it. Currently tapering....started it about 6 weeks ago to get some some sleep and due to my past with other GABA-B agonists (GBL off on for years, and scripted baclofen 20 mg x 3 daily for the last 4 years) I was flung into a horrendous addiction within a week. Doesn't help that I'm 6 months into an Ashton taper using diazepam....down from 80 to 20, was mostly painless until the phenibut was thrown into the mix, now both GABA-A and B are fucked and screaming! Ugh....

OP- slow taper wins the race....go as slow as you need. Some people have to do it Ashtom style, some can do a quick taper. YMMV. Listen to yr body...and mind! Good luck...it is he'll on earth but manageable if you do it correctly...

That's why I would be hesitant to use benzos with phenibut taper, messing with both receptors. Did Neurontin not help with your phenibut withdrawal?

Phenibut is so weird, as I have used it numerous times now. Was doing 1 day on then 2 days off, didn't notice anything until I did 2 days in a row fairly high dosages the next night had these weird jolts of anxiety and impending doom right when I was about to break into sleep. It was really really weird feeling. Luckily kava took it away but I still didn't really sleep for 2 days. I can only imagine 2-6 months of daily use good lord. It really does sneak u on you but it works so well for my anxiety...quite a dilemma.

Definitely be careful with the phenibut. It feels nice while on it, but you get F'd up without it. I had to quit it too cause it seemed to always make be depressed the day after taking it.
