Phenibut while on Suboxone & benzos
So I've been reading lots of good (and yes, bad) stuff about phenibut. SWIM is currently taking Suboxone 8 mg daily for opiate addiction/cravings and has been stable at this level for about a year. However, SWIM also has anxiety and depression issues, and takes Klonopin (clonazepam) 4 mg once daily (sometimes broken up into 2 doses of 2 mg each) and Remeron (mirtazapine) 45 mg once nightly. SWIM is interested in taking the phenibut in low doses (1g or less) to help with social anxiety and, well, just to see what its like. SWIM's primary concern is respiratory depression. SWIM has a very large benzo tolerance (which I assume means his GABA(A) receptors are shot to hell), and as I mentioned he's been on the same dose of Suboxone for quite a while, so he's definitely not opiate or benzo naive. SWIM was thinking about trying one 500 mg phenibut capsule (he ordered the "Phenibut XT" brand made by Serious Nutrition Solutions if it makes any difference) to measure his response, but he's terrified that it could badly interact with either the Suboxone, Klonopin, and/or both. Is he making a mountain out of a mole hill or should he just take a pass on phenibut? SWIM was hoping low dose phenibut might potentiate the Suboxone (SWIM has had great success in the past taking his regular Suboxone dose with Soma (carisoprodol)) or the Klonopin - or just be something fun to do on the weekend - as SWIM has become quite resistant to the relaxation/mildly euphoric feelings that benzos used to give him. Any tips for my friend? (sorry, first time SWIMming)
