ok first off im no scientician
however i was looking at the psychedelics we all know and love and i noticed a pattern
im not sure if this has been discovered/disproved/been considered but i thought i should bring it up
the phenethylamines have one benzo ring with an amine and some chemical foliage yeh?
the tryptamines have 2 benzo rings an amine and foliage
harmine and the like have 3 benzo rings in a line with an amine
the dissociatives have 3 rings connected by a carbon atom in the centre
the ergolines have 4 rings + foliage
what if there was one in the middle with 3 rings connected + amine + foliage
it would look a bit like this

sorry couldnt upload it
i figured if the right people could adjust this to form chemicals we could have a whole new field of psychedelics to enjoy
anyway thoughts on it would be appreciated

Not a bad idea for a non-scientologist ;)

First thing I thought was: if you're gonna add the third ring you will have to shorten your alkylamine chain, it counts as part of the chain.
Well you can see that in the example of the compounds I linked to.

How did you figure the name phenalenamine by the way? These are not phenalene analogues.
(And sorry I lolled a little at foliage, do you perhaps mean substitutions i.e. things hanging on the side / attached to the main skeleton?)

I dig the suggestion!! Typically these go in ADD, let's give it a go here first and then soon move there for other and more info. :)

Interesting idea, the foliage part made me chuckle too :D

I'm not much of a chemist myself as of late so I can't speculate on whether these would be active or what not, but the links you posted (@Solipsis) intrigue me. As do (although this is slightly off-topic, as they don't fit the structure) some of the related links, 4,5-DHP-DMT, 4,5-DHP-AMT and one which doesn't have a more intuitive name: AL-38022A

i liked the foliage bit as well :D I'm certainly no chemicologist either, but i'd venture a guess that they would be psychotropic & probably not terribly potent, but i couldn't tell you if they'd be psychedelic, though its probably likely.

yeh i typed '3 benzene rings' in google and it came up with phenalene
would it work if you took the NH out of the bottom and just had the amine on top of phenalene?

another thing i noticed was the more aesthetically pleasing the compound looks, the more interesting it becomes
i.e. 2c-b-fly & bromo (i always figured it was like how venomous/non-venomous snakes had very similar markings and they look like a bee imo)
the 2c's in general (ring plus 4 substitutions*!) and now RDS-127 (one of the links on the wiki)
which looks like a man and spontaneously produces orgasms!
so on that basis adding methyl groups onto the other corners (in the triangle) would be my first step
this is if the removal of the NH works though

***also when i say amine i mean ethylamine
