pharmacy filled wrong/or stole/or made a mistake. what can i do!?

Okay im on alot of meds. Beta blocker,bi polar meds, pain meds, depression meds, and anti anxiety meds.

I always count pain pills in the parking lot bcs cvs has been wrong before. But i never counted my xanax. For the past two months my script has been a pain bcs i was gettn 60 xanaxs a day, then my dr rasied it. But on the paper he didnt write the right quantity , so he had to call in my extra 30 .

So last month i ,ade sure he wrote out the script right. So i noticed 2 weeks ago, i was almost out, so i was missing 30 pills. Unless i was taking 5 mgs a day( which i dont, i would be asleep all day, and i have a heart monitor on so my heart rate would prob drop.) And im the only one with access to my pills. So i called the pharmacy.

They asked, if the number on the bottle was circled, i said yes. They said "well that means we counted it twice" I said " well i know somethings wrong then, u guys have made mistakes alot before, and i dont abuse these, im about to file a police report, i write down when i take my meds, nd i usually only take 2 xanax a day! So if anything i dhould have extra!"

She told me to bring my dates and times i took them down, and bring the bottle. She was very rude. But what will they do? They wont believe me! I got long hair,tats,and goatee. But my pain dr drug tests me so i can prove im not taking extra! Ive read online pharmists will take pills from ppl!

This cvs has treated me rude b4, and has very unprofessional ppl wprking at the pharmacy( i had a red headed girl yell at me like i was a druggy bcs she read my script wrong, i use to get 120 perc 5mgs every 15 days, i was getting these scripts like this for 7 months,she told me the new script was two weeks to early, so i went to the head pahrmacist, and showed my sxript paper said it was time, she apologized bcs the red head put in the script info wrong!)

Can i file a complaint? Can they check there stock?! The weirdest thing about this was the day i went to get my xanax filled, the pharmicist said they had to fill it tommorow bcs the "xanaz went bad, they had to order more"

This seems way to weird! I can seizure from withdrawels!

My uncle was a pharmist and stole meds all the time. Then he comitted suicide. I guess my next refill i need to count all my narcotic pills! This is ridiculous!

Don't take any chances with inept pharmacies; in the past, they've lost one month of my suboxone script, leaving me in severe withdrawals for a month. When I go there now, I demand a receipt for any 'scripts, and I always count my tablets right there at the desk; if they've given me less, they have no way of denying their incompetence this way. (I've come to realise that nobody will take the word of an addict in my country.)

In short, be a pain in the arse; count your pills in front of them, and demand receipts for every script you give them...you may be surprised to learn that these people may act a lot more professional towards you when they realise you're aware you have consumer rights.

Course, if its already happened, go over their heads; speak to the manager, or even the head office. Threaten legal action; this will 9/10 times get you results. If you were to die during withdrawal thanks to their negligence, they would be facing some serious legal backlash- let them know this.cOr, just use a different chemist.

First, at this point they wont be responsible for the missing pills even if they really didnt give you enough. You have had them for 2 weeks and the situation is going to be that anything could have happened to them in that period of time (either you took them, someone else did, you lost them etc). I would make a complaint though I do not know how seriously it will be taken in all likelihood. But if you raise enough hell about it and someone at the pharmacy really is taking them then it will probably freak them out enough that they will stop doing it for fear of being caught.

I agree with the above poster in that I would from now on count ALL of my pills with someone who works there everytime you get them. Do not walk away from the counter until you have done so. Then there will be no denying it from them. It will be good to have an official complaint on file with the manager so that when you count them next time, if they do turn up short, it will show that you werent crazy the first time and that it has most likely happened before.

I know that in the US at CVS pharmacies that the actual pharmacist on duty (not the techs who work and help to fill the scripts) has to actually count all controlled substances so its not like there will be a question about who got it wrong if it turns out that way. No matter whether a tech or a robot were to put the pills in the bottle, the pharmacists has to count them. Another thing to think about is when employees steal meds from the pharmacy it is usually not from peoples bottles because there are cameras on them while they are behind that counter. Usually (from what I understand) the theft usually happens while inventory is being done or other times. That is not to say that it couldnt happen though. And they definitely make mistakes..and its not that uncommon.

Pharmacies do make mistakes. However, you waited far too long for you to have anything to back your statements up with. As has been said, they could have messed up the count, or you could have taken them yourself without realizing it. Since you're dealing with benzos like Xanax, this is very possible.

Next time you go to the pharmacy, count the pills right when you get the script filled and if there's pills missing bring it up with them right away. If they did mess up the count, speak with the pharmacist in charge and consider changing your pharmacy.
