Pharmacy error

I take Oxycodone 30mg (2 15 mg tablets) twice a day for neck and back pain. I have had prescriptions filled at several pharmacies but when I had it filled at one particular pharmacy, I got sick every time I took it. I got a terrible headache and nausea and it would get so bad I would be in bed, throwing up, for up to 24 hours. A couple of times I tried to take MORE of the medication to treat the headache and WHAM, it would just make it worse and I would be so miserable I would just cry. I spoke to my Doctor about it and he said he never heard of such a thing and that he would have to guess it was a difference in the brand/manufacturer. It was bad enough that I just could not take it so I just put the bottle away. I am not sure why I bothered to keep it since I had such an issue. This was several months ago and I started thinking it must have simply been a coincidence. The Doctor was so sure that it was so off the wall. Finally, one day, I combines all my pills into one bottle. Two days ago, I took a dose and got that horrible sickness again. I cannot describe how miserable I was. During the day I remembered that this was the same sickness I got taking those particular pills so I started looking at them to try to find a way to recognize the ones that made me sick so I could get them out of the bottle.
I noticed some of the pills (all were blue and the same size) were a slightly lighter blue and I was able to pull them out. When I went to the internet to try to identify the manufacturer, I found out that these lighter blue pills were actually 15 mg Morphine SA which, obviously, were filled by the pharmacy as Oxycodone.
Do many people have such a violent reaction to Morphine SA? I am quite used to taking the 30 mg of oxycodone so do you have any idea why the Morphine would be so different? Thanks.

My best guess is an allergy. Many people are allergic to codeine and/or morphine without being allergic to other opiates. Perhaps mention this possibility to your doctor

yeah i get insane nausea from morphine/ hydropmorphone but none on oxy

The likelihood of nausea associated with the administration of an opiate such as morphine is, generally speaking, higher than that of an opioid like oxycodone. However, your tolerance to opiates should be a factor, too; as someone above pointed out, there is a high prevalence of morphine allergy. Morphine's oral bioavailability is only about 30%, whereas the oral BA of oxycodone is closer to 100%. Therefore, it's not likely that you got sick from taking *too much* morphine (because the dose you quoted is pretty damn low, especially considering only 30 percent of it was absorbed properly). And SHAME on that pharmacy/pharmacist. There is little room for error when filling strong opioid prescriptions, and that should never, ever happen. You would certainly have a case against the pharmacy, were you to pursue some sort of putative action against them. I'm assuming that, since the true oxycodone pills were blue and 15mg strength, you are prescribed a generic form of Roxicodone. That being said, try to be privvy about what your medication should and shouldn't look like in terms of the pill imprint. If you continue to use the same pharmacy (which, obviously, doesn't sound like it's in the cards...), always double-check the pill imprint using a pill identifier such as that available on drugs.com or rxlist.com!

Your pharmacy is stealing your oxy and replacing it with morphine. What they are doing is illegal and dangerous.

yeah, youre pharmacy fucked up big time. im sure it has to do with someone diverting the oxycodone. errors like that dont happen for no reason.

I can tell you are clueless about Narcotic pain medicine (no offence) but like a couple people said already, whoever is filling your script knows what is up and is giving you lame ass Morphine sulfate Instead of Roxicodone.
