Pharmacists putting your DR's name on S3 purchases

This has happened a number of times now.
Normally if you don't bring in a prescription at the same time the labelling will say "Prescriber Dr Pharmacist" or the pharmacists name or "DR S3"

If I present a prescription at the same time as buying a Schedule3 medication the pharmacist will often put my Dr's name as the Prescriber of the S3 medication, even though he didn't prescribe it.

QUESTION: Does the S3 OTC medication with my Dr's name on it actually go on the Dr Shoppers database?
The amount of codeine I buy would be very incriminating if my current Dr or a future Dr were to check the last 3 or 6 months of prescriptions if the S3 codeine with his name as prescriber actually goes on the database.

As it stands, the information is not shared by pharmacies, meaning that you can currently pharmacy shop for codeine all you want and never get caught out, unless you go to the same pharmacy too often.

It is only a database so they can ID problem users, which doesn't work too well when you are in cities where there are multiple pharmacies in the one street...

^ the exception to this is pseudoephedrine-containing products. The majority (if not all by now) pharmacies in QLD subscribe to a linked database recording pseudo purchases. I guess the infrastructure is there should they chose to add other meds to the database in future... and scripted (higher than S3) meds are recorded against your medicare account.

For the moment you should be fine with OTC codeine purchases though :)

I was only referring to codeine, pseudo watch has been going on for many years.

I'm quite surprised codeine hasn't been added to project stop, with all the recent media attention and down sizing of codeine medications, I was expecting it to have already happened.

God forbid.

Though if OTC codeine was restricted, maybe doctors would be more willing to prescribe weaker opiates (forte's, tramadol) to those who need them, which would be nice.

Im goin to prob turn to H then if this tracking will happen. Seems to be easy to get H than 80s or Codeine. Just had a fight with a lady at the pharmacy about me buying 2 boxes as they only had the smaller boxes (half size exactly). Shits me to be honest.

Panadol Extra (with, wait for it, CAFFEINE!) is the new alternative to Panadeine that you see on bus billboards and on the sides of shit.

S3, nah dude, they can't put your doctor's name on it. It just says Dr. OTC for me and my fellow Queensland compadres'.

As far as I'm aware of, you can now only get 2 packets of OTC codeine containing products per pharmacy each month.

There is also a 5 day interval between purchasing OTC codeine products, from the same pharmacy.

I saw this documentary on ABC about how the leader of a pharmacy group in Australia wants Oxycodone products to be implemented in the same way as pseudoephedrine's ProjectSTOP.

And at Sustanon, ahhahaa, bro, just get on the Subutex program.

Really? Do you have any links/reports to back this? It's already bad enough having to buy 24 packs (I've encountered a lot of pharmacies that refuse to sell 30's or are sold out of them), but being limited to two a month is a massive pain for anyone who needs it legitimately. That's 8-10 days supply at 6 per day.... what if you live in rural QLD and don't have access to multiple pharmacies?

I 'think' their logic would be that if you're taking it daily, you should be seeing a doctor to have your problem diagnosed and more appropriate/effective treatment prescribed, or at least a script for a 100 box.

For what it's worth, I've never had any troubles purchasing on a weekly basis from most places, and none of the places I go to regularly bother checking ID or recording details.

Well, apart from first-hand experience at a giant discount pharmacy warehouse, where I was rejected from buying herron Gold 10 mg Codeine/500 mg paracetamol, no, because my older brother had bought a packet of Nurofen Plus x 30 in the prior 5 days.

But ummm...

Well, I suppose, codeine-containing analgesic users are now officially one of the many groups that the government fucks in the arse on a regular basis.

That pharmacy warehouse are complete vaginas. They won't sell me any pseudophedrine product, nor back when I used to buy it - Rikodeine, and probably if I went back there (haven't been there for 6 months) they wouldnt' sell me codeine products either.

I don't think this is legal, but they link up all their pharmacies together via the internet. So in my case, they knew i had recently bought the same product from 2 other stores in the last week. So I've effectively been banned from buying any S3 medicines that have possible abuse potential.

1 of the chain stores straight out tells me they won't sell to me, and I need a dr's prescription to buy from them, while the others do the "sorry we're out of stock" line

Bobby, dude that shit sucks ass. Lucky, in Queensland, there a few and far between chemist warehouses. And as for Pseudoephedrine products, there complete fuck wits when it comes to the government's pressures to limit the supply of pseudoephedrine. And as for Rikodeine, they stopped selling that shit as well. Fucking assholes. I mean, what the fuck is going on with this picture? Removing all 'drugs of addiction, mmmkay?" and replacing that shit with Panadol EXTRA (with CAFFEINE MAN, GUARANTEED TO ALLEVIATE HEADACHES RAPIDLY'. Get fucked, ya jebrone's.

That's the thing though. THEY LIE. They sell rikodeine still only they lie to anyone they don't want to sell to. Might say they don't sell it anymore, out of stock, or that particular store doesn't sell that product. But it's all lies. I was once told "sorry we don't sell rikodeine". Took note of pharmacist name who refused me, came back the following night, - different pharmacist, & asked for Riko and was sold it. CAUGHT OUT!

Just as sharing your OTC 'prescription' history between stores is an invasion of privacy & possibly illegal they really are over zealous in detecting recreational OTC users to the point that I don't think they are acting legally or morally.

What's really annoying is the repeated lies when it comes to trying to buy pseudophedrine products. I've bought pseduo containing products maybe 5 times in 2 years, and due to OPERATION STOP, they would know that, and yet still I get the "i'm sorry we're out of stock" line. Last time the guy next to me said "Mate they always tell me they're out of stock too, you got to come in here in a suit to get it"

So after waiting 10 minutes with their stupid beeper I then have to go elsewhere and pay nearly twice the price. Bastards.

I think this might be a case of the pharmacy lying to you or having an internal store policy. There is no mention that I can see in the official changes that limits customers to 2 codeine-containing products per month, or 1 within a 5 day period.

I've had pharmacists lie to me about having rikodeine & 30 packs of n+ in stock too when I can clearly see them on the shelves behind them...

i had a massive arguement the other day with the lady behind the counter when i asked for sum codiene/ibu product. They only had the half size packs which have (15pills) then when i asked for 2 packs she denied it and i almost went off at her. 15 pills man id eat that in 2.5 days if i did have sum major pain. And no i dont eat them LOL
