So i went "shopping" today and 3/4 pharms asked me to show photo I.d and record details.

Now i only thought that they were restricted to selling a 5 day supply from behind counter, but asking for I.D? I was like... what?

Is this another new thing they have brought in?

Yeah I thought it was part of the new laws but some pharmacies don't ask for it, others do.

They shouldn't share details between pharmacies though except in rare cases.

Where do you live? I've only had one pharmacy ask me to record anything, and even then they didn't check ID, just recorded my first and last name.

They not only ask me for I.D but practically interrogate me asking why i need them, my symptoms, all the while giving me a 'i dont trust you look'. I only ever go into pharmacies if im genuinely sick, so it really sucks to be treated like that every time.

I believe it's up to the discretion of the pharmacist. They have to label codeine-containing products now so a lot (most that I've encountered) will ask for photo ID such as a licence to get your name and address. Depending on the pharmacy they may just ask you for these details though.

There is already a massive thread about the rescheduling that was closed recently... it'll have all of the info you need in it and more discussed ad nauseum.

Since the 1st of May I've been to at least 12 different pharmacies around my area. None have ever asked for my I.D. and I am one of those guys that looks underage. I'm actually turning 25 in November but many people say I look 16 or 17.

I get asked for I.D. all the time when buying durries/alcohol from servos or pubs...but I've never ever been asked to show I.D. when buying N+ tabs. At a rough guess, I'd say I've purchased around 60-70 packs of 24, across 12 or so chemists.

The only things they ask me (if they ask anything at all!) is "Have you used these before?" and simple advice, for e.g. "Make sure to take them with food."

Sometimes they'll say "Are they for you?". Sometimes i'll say yes, and give a brief explanation that they are for a migraine, or a horrible cough - which justifies the use of the codeine lol

They've had the record-keeping system in QLD for a long time now right? I remember being on holiday seeing my ex-girlfriend in Gatton a couple of years ago and bought a pack of Panadeine and they asked for my name, address and telephone number. Do they have a state-wide database in Queensland, or is each pharmacy independent of the next?

Hope they wont introduce this all over AU. Seems like ill be turning to Heroin and oxys for good. They soon will be easier to get than codeine. If they think this will cut down on opiate abuse they are wrong. People (like myself) will turn to an alternative. They should bring out sum pure codeine tablets anyway. Would be more healthier, safer, more profit and etc etc etc.

You can get pure codeine prescribed :-) A mate of mine had them for back pain.

The area I live in never checks ID, apart from one chemist, but they sell me as much codeine as I want.

well i just bought 200ml of rikodeine and a 40 pack from a chemist warehouse and wasn't asked for any ID. I thought they were strict at the warehouse too, but i guess it's just pot luck.

yeah i was prescribed the 30mg straight codeine tablets once before, they're really small tablets, but if i was getting a script for something weak i'd choose tramadol and just get OTC codeine and do a CWE

^yeah, they're tiny little 30mg tablets that are prescription only like panadeine forte. i get them from time to time for my back.

i've only been hit up the once i think and way back when when purchasing codeine OTC; it's when i've purchased anti-histamines that they've recorded details and asked for photo ID.

I've only ever been asked for ID once, in St Albans, and that was 6+ months ago, before the new laws even came in.

lol St Albans... I imagine they must have got a few requests in ;)

I've bought panafen once since the new laws came in and got asked, at one of my regular chemists too. waa.... I must look suspect :!

although I rarely get asked with cold n flu stuff so I guess that's a good thing.... :)

This is only going to get more common

Especially when there are social codeine threads, talking about pharmacy shopping :\

This site is used as a resource for Police and most likely some pharmacists, don't forget that.

Second this. It's not a good idea to bitch about shopping around on BL.

I hate that this has happened to BL, fuck the media fuck you journalists and reporters we aren't some place you can pull stories out of on a slow news day you motherfuckers. Put that on your stupid fucking Today Tonight.

it's a fucking nightmare going into the pharmacy for me.
They ask me about 100 questions and get highly suspicous about everything I say and just don't believe me. it sukcss
