:X:!:X

cheeky bastards

OH and one thats been getting me recently are those who don't test they're ecstasy and then when they get piped or a meth bomb they complain of coke, pma, ketamine, dxm, or other rare as fuck adulterants that I'm 99% sure were NOT in their pills

especially when they think its pma

ITS HIGHLY HIGHLY RARE AND IF YOU TOOK ONE OR TWO PILLS OF PMA YOU WOULD BE IN THE HOSPITAL OR CITY MORGUE!

:X:X:!:!:X:X

*end rant*

woo i feel better now :)

When I was in IL none of the subways ever had avocado. I feel really lucky now when I go to one there is always a gigantic avocado (like a foot long!) always sitting there and that is one thing that they actually do hook up :)

Wat? Separately, or the combination, or just those three things in a pile by themselves?

My latest peeve is the recent resurgence in people asking me: 'But how do you get enough protein?' FFS, I've been vegetarian for nearly five years, and I've got more lean muscle than most of the people asking this. Somehow I must be getting my protein from a source other than <gasp> Alberta Beef!

In a related note, rednecks tend to piss me the hell off. I appreciate and respect real farmers and I can understand where real ranchers/cowhands come from. But these twits who think that being ignorant = being 'country', and especially the kids who think that because they live on an acreage and/or their parents have a tiny hobby farm that they deserve the same respect as someone who is 3rd or 4th generation on a proper farm or someone who actually has some agriculture education.

Also: men with class remove their hats indoors. Period. I don't care if it's a cowboy hat, ball cap or fedora. The only exception are religious headdresses.

Sorry for the rant, but I went to a 'country' wedding last night, and it was all I could do to get drunk enough to not let the music and people annoy the hell out of me.

Ok, I will bite. How do you get enough protein? I try to eat 100 to 150 grams of protein a day. I think that would be difficult without eating meat.

Most vegetarians I have met are on a 1800 calorie diet with about 50 gram of protein. It sounds like you do not fall into that group, so I am curious as to what kinds of meals you have.

I like to have 20 - 25 grams if protein per meal for good balance. I wouldn't mind learning some more vegetarian dishes that are high in protein.

When my bf leaves the shower thing up so when I got to turn the water on get my head wet.
He hasn't been doing it lately so maybe he has learned it bugs me. Also too much shit in the shower so stuff is always falling in the tub pisses me off.

agreed, am vegetarian and lactose-intolerant and most people just look at me when i tell them like, what do you eat then, grass? considering we're the only animals on the earth that consume milk from a different species, and there are plenty of other species that are strictly veg, i don't really understand why this is such a diffcult concept for some people.
i also HATE when people say "i could never be a vegetarian, i need meat to be full." you don't feel full because you ate a dead animal, you feel full because fat and protein are what keeps your full for long periods of time, and luckily you DON'T have to murder a living organism to have either of those, crazy crazy! :p

"and there are plenty of other species that are strictly veg, i don't really understand why this is such a diffcult concept for some people."

Umm.. Don't those species eat mostly GRASS?

Also, Isn't it a bit absurd to compare the way humans eat to the way animals eat?

Humans have different nutritional needs, and we have different taste buds. A cat seems content to eat the same vittles evey day for life. Can you show me a human who can do that?

"Vegetarians, and their Hezbollah-like splinter faction, the vegans, are a persistent irritant to any chef worth a damn. To me, life without veal stock, pork fat, sausage, organ meat, demi-glace, or even stinky cheese is a life not worth living. Vegetarians are the enemy of everything good and decent in the human spirit, and an affront to all I stand for, the pure enjoyment of food. The body, these waterheads imagine, is a temple that should not be polluted by animal protein. It's healthier, they insist, though every vegetarian waiter I've worked with is brought down by any rumor of a cold. Oh, I'll accommodate them, I'll rummage around for something to feed them, for a 'vegetarian plate', if called on to do so. Fourteen dollars for a few slices of grilled eggplant and zucchini suits my food cost fine.

1) yes, these species eat mostly grass. however, these species do not have access to whole foods, traders joes, or any of the other numerous chains/small stores where you can pretty much buy a vegan-version of everything. nor do they have the motor skills, intelligence or technology to cook meals using meat and dairy substitutes. if you’re willing to put in effort and be creative, it’s not that hard to find a million different things to eat. lastly, there’s tons of vegan mainstream foods—pasta, rice, potatoes, vegetables, fruits, nuts, etc. so i don’t understand why being vegan is viewed as being such a weird and impossible thing for some people.

2) i don't see any absurdity in my statement. yes, all animals have different nutritional needs, but what we enjoy eating has nothing to do with what our bodies actually need. there is scientific proof showing that humans have any NEED to consume meat, milk, or eggs. we need the nutritional values in these foods, but there are many alternate sources (food and vitamins) in which we can get them and not compromise our health, in fact, most studies show that vegetarians live on average ten years longer than meat eaters. (and the statement about the cat makes no sense to me-- there's no way that you or anyone else would be able to tell if the cat IS actually content by just looking at it, and i think the fact that cats and dogs are constantly trying to steal their owner's food to consume shows that they're not content at all).

i feel very strongly that it is immoral to kill any living thing for human consumption. i do not eat meat, wear leather or fur, or buy products that are tested on animal. But these are my personal beliefs/morals that i live by--- most of my friends and exs are not vegs, and that's fine with me. i think people should make their own choices. i don’t push my beliefs on others.
however, the full thing is just a statement that really annoys me (and this IS the pet-peeves thread) and one that my roommate makes constantly. the first part bothers me because i REALLY don't appreciate people being condescending and acting like me not eating meat and not consuming dairy is some weird abnormal disorder. If you want to ask me what I eat politely and out of curiosity, that’s different. but usually when people say “what hell do you eat then? grass?” they then go on for ten minutes about how they just couldn’t do it and how weird it is and how they don’t get me and start arguing with me about it and blah blah.

^Yup I totally understand what you mean mrs mia :) I myself am an omnivore, but I always try to understand and respect the beliefs of my vegan /vegetarian friends and I expect the same courtesy as well. <3 Being curious, accepting, and agreeing to disagree without being condescending - tis great.

Fjones-- I don't want to get into a huge public debate about this with you, but I'd be happy to talk with you about it in PM. :)

BTW, unless you're a bodybuilder doing a bulking cycle, you don't need that much protein, and it could well be detrimental to your long-term health.

Mmmmm...I love Trader Joe's!

I've been vegetarian since I was 14, so almost years now, but I do it more because I think the idea of eating flesh is gross.

My boss constantly gets into it with me trying to get me to exlpain myself, which honestly, is fine once, but when he asks me once a month and ignores my reasoning because it doesn't make sense to HIM, it ticks me off.

He is the same way with not understanding the difference between clinical depression and being sad.

When I am waiting tables for cash, the following kind of exchange always shits me:

Question - "Would you like milk or cream with your coffee?"

Answer - "Yes."

dumbass drug dealers who dont know shit about what they are peddling

bad drivers

crappy radio stations that we have in canada that play the same set list every fucking day

people on blue light who shit on other people for asking "stupid" questions

people who ride bicycles on the road but do not adhere to the same rules that go for cars (especially bikers who run 4 way stops)

the absolute stigmatization of drug users/abusers or homeless people

people who abuse the homeless/drug addicts for fun (such as making them do stupid shit like climbing a tree or doing 100 push ups for a dollar, this happens all the time in the downtown eastside of vancouver)

most peoples complete faith that a cop (or anyone) would never lie in court

the fact that getting really drunk and doing something stupid is always a funny story to tell later but when you do dumb shit on other drugs you get shunned and treated like a junky

really rich musicians bitching about free downloading of music (most bands that arent filthy rich already make all their money from touring so the exposure by free downloading is VERY important to them)

people who get drunk and than get all fucking pissed off and act aggressive when its totally inappropriate (not that being aggressive towards anyone is ever really appropriate)

people who think that obama being elected is going to solve all the worlds problems immediately

the fact that most doctors are incompetent quacks who treat patients like customers

i could go on and on...

Mrs. Mia Wallace: you write

"pasta, rice, potatoes, vegetables, fruits, nuts, etc. so i don’t understand why being vegan is viewed as being such a weird and impossible thing for some people. "

first of all, I don't view veganism as weird for some people, just not feasible for MYSELF. The foods you jsut listed are almost entirely carbohydrates. I like to eat a balanced diet of 55/25/20 (carbs / fat / protein). And, I eat 3000 calories a day, sometimes 3500.

If you or someone else can submit to me a diet that satisfies those two goals and remains vegan, and doesn't require 25 hours per week of prep and cook time, I'll eat it.
