I rage every time I see somebody texting while driving, or even worse when I am witness to or am in company of someone that starts the car, drives off and immediately starts texting...that message couldn't have been sent before you pulled off?
16-20 year old drivers suck enough to begin with, I'm praying the minimum age for a driver's license is miraculously increased to at least 19 years old in the near future...because I'm pretty sure everyone under 20 years old texts at least twice every time they get behind the wheel.
Or maybe they should just reduce it to 13 years old because I've got a feeling that a focused 13 year old can operate a vehicle just as safely as a 17 year old whose got a phone in their hands.
On the bright side, I used to never wear my seat belt, but this phenomenon prevents me from even thinking twice!:D
I'm not a hypocrite, and maybe i'm a little crazy, but being accountable for even the slightest accident involving another vehicle sounds like a real shitty party and is one of my biggest fears.
I shouldn't let it bother me because, naturally, the truth is always assured from those who are frequently guilty that texting while driving is in fact NOT distracting
Oh yeah and just because you are stopped at a red light it doesn't give you the green light to jam in a quick 300 character text, everyone behind you is anxious as hell to accelerate and praying they don't have to wait for another light cycle all because you got lost in the moment.
I realize some people are way better at texting while driving than others, but the same can be said about driving intoxicated...I don't think points should be deducted or licenses revoked, but I think the fine for a texting while driving violation should be as steep as a DUI without all the court costs and lawyer fees.
I realize texting isn't the only activity that can distract a driver, but it's got to be the most popular form, so I attacked it!
I had no intentions of writing an essay, maybe it's due to the weirdness of this adult snow day, but I just couldn't stop:D
