Pet Peeves v. 5.0

People really peeve me when they choose from the more annoying of two options. For example, if my party is too loud, there are two options, which I will rate on a scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being the most logical and 1 being the most illogical.

A) Come knock on my door and say, "Hi, this is your neighbor, the party is a bit loud and perhaps you were unaware of how much sound is coming through the walls/floor, but could you possibly try to quiet things down a bit?" (Rating: 10)

B) Call the police and have them go to my apartment door. (Rating: 1)

WHY THE FUCK DO NEIGHBORS ALWAYS CHOOSE OPTION B !????????????????

Just come knock on my door!!!!!!!!

Does the droid really suck thism uch?

I have two phone numbers listed for one of my friends. One of them is defunct.
I cannot figure out how to delete it. Surely there is a way????? This phone ha a lot of weird quirks.

for some ocd reason,it annoys me when someone puts the tp roll on the thing backwards. :p

it also bugs me when someone ends a sentence with "at" (ex."where the kids at") :|

it irks me if i let someone use my comp for a second, say to check their fb or sumthin, and when i sit back at my desk i realize theyv completly x'd out of my window, which usually has a few tabs open that are somewhat important to me or its something iv left open in a tab bc i havent had a chance to check it out yet.its not even that hard to pull the shit back up but still :!

it doesnt really piss me off so much as gross me out and make me feel like a bitch when i say no..when girls i hardly know ask to use my makeup/chapstick or lip gloss/deodorant etc. Um,like no.sharing makeup n shit is gross to me,unless we're talkin serious bff/sister/approved makeup using person.i dont feel like gettin pink eye or some shit bc (X) used my eyeliner.etc. :(

cant think of anymore atm,but theres more im sure. :\

Seriously? You utilized so much bad grammar in this post alone. Your post peeved me. No offense.

didnt mean to piss you off.guess if u get annoyed reading my posts, maybe u shouldnt read them. 2 birds with one stone, you dont get annoyed with my grammer,i dont get trolled by you. win win.

Wow. Lighten up and relax. AmorRoark and I were merely pointing out some irony in that your post complained about poor grammar yet you had poor grammar yourself. In fact, before complaining about grammar, you might want to learn how to SPELL grammar.

And no one is trolling you. I certainly wasn't annoyed by your post. Where did I say I was annoyed by it? I even tried to add some irony myself - WHen pointing out that your example sentence did not contain a verb, I used a sentence that also did not contain a verb. . I omitted the word "has" intentionally in what I suppose was an apparently failed attempt to inject some levity into this situation.

lol i know you did
im not tryn to fight with anyone on here
idk how to spell grammar i guess, shit
im not complaining about grammar,i was just sayin i dont like sentences that end with "at".
its really not even that big of a deal to go on and on about
have a good day guys

fjones: it shouldn't be hard to delete a number. If you have them as two linked contacts, unlink them and delete the defunct one (both operations should be doable by pressing and holding on the contact name in the list). If they're under a single contact, then pressing and holding on the contact name in the list should then bring up the option to edit the contact. That's how it works on my phone at least-- Samsung Galaxy Captivate.

Current peeve: winter drivers. We're on the tail end of a moderate dump of snow in Alberta right now, and the number of people in accidents, ditches, or stuck in the middle of the street is mind boggling. SUVs and trucks appear to not be exempt. I don't drive often, but when I do it is in an old Neon with crappy summer tires, and I'm able to drive without any problems whatsoever. With winter tires, and a bit of good sense, there is no reason to get stuck in anything less than a drift. And even then, unless you're high-centred it isn't that hard to rock out with proper technique.

Sure, some people may be relatively new to winter driving, but I pushed a few people out in a particularly bad parking lot yesterday, and all of them had been in town for at least 5 years. They seriously need to add a special qualification to allow people to drive in the winter. That, and a separate qualification for driving anything bigger than a crossover, and a whole other license for driving motorhomes. But that's a whole other peeve.

When I press and hold on his name, I get the following options:

view contact
call contact
send text message
share name card
delete contact

"View contact" brings me right back to the original screen I was on before I pressed and held; and the other four options obviously don't do what I need.
When I press and hold on the number I want to delete, I am given the following options:

call contact
send text message
make default number

What am I missing?

Why not write down the number that does work, then choose "delete contact" and if it doesnt give you the option for which one to delete, but just deletes the whole thing, you can just add it back in because you have written it down?

That was my plan - but on principle I refuse to do that because I can't imagine that Motorolla intended for that method to be the only way to eliminate one phone number from a contact.

I figured it out. It is needlessly complicated, requiring a series of annoying steps.

fjones: That's odd. Which version are you running? I'm on 2.1, and by pressing and holding on the contact name, in the contact list (not within the contact) gives 'Edit' as the first option on my phone. Are the two numbers from linked contacts, or from a single one?

view / menu / edit? Or did you have to split the contact?

I had to click the person's name and then press the "menu" button on the actual phone (next to the "home" button that looks like a house) and that brings up "edit," from there I was able to delete the defunct secondary number for my friend.

Ah, nice one. I've hardly ever actually used the dedicated menu button, other than to set up wireless access for Winamp.

Peeve du jour: people who live in northern climes and bitch about the weather. Goes double for people who were born here. Dress for the fucking weather, or move; winter happens every year, and yes, it can get very cold. This weekend we're looking at daytime highs around -30C. Where will I be? At the local Ice Sculpture festival, bundled to hell and back, but having a great time because I'd rather enjoy my surroundings than bitch for 6 months straight every single year.

A close second are people who say 'wow, I can't wait for global warming to show up, ha ha ha' in response to cold weather. Ignorance is frustrating.

I missed a bunch of the grammar peeves but I've got one that sometimes gets my goat...

could of, would of, should of

or

could HAVE WOULD HAVE etc.
