Pet Peeves v. 5.0

here' one that constantly pisses me off: alaska is a united state, dammit! we have to pay federal taxes, follow federal laws, and get lumped in with the continental u.s. by the rest of the world when they're hating on america.

but half the time, when i try to order stuff online, they won't ship here. i have to have things shipped to a relative or friend down south, and they have to forward it. i pay shipping twice, and have to wait for weeks or months to get my stuff. why are my AMERICAN dollars not good enough?!

oh, and how about that calling card i bought that said "5 cents per minute in the United States", but when i used it to call alaska, it charged me nearly 10 times that amount! when i called their customer service line, they said, "oh, alaska doesn't count. you have to pay international rates." wtf??! it didn't say that on the card -- it said "in the united states". not "in the continental united states". so these jerks don't think we're a state?? were they absent that day in geography class??

i'm all for alaskan secession -- it would be great for us. but if we have to be american, we should get the same rights, priveledges and services as any texan or californian. grrrrrr!!

My pet peeve of the day, nothing original... 16 wheelers on the interstate.

It's not that I'm pissed at the drivers themselves (at least not unless they do something stupid), it's just the fact that these huge trucks are slow as hell and constantly getting in my way. The truck in the left lane is going 60 mph trying to pass the truck on the right that is going 50 mph... and im sitting behind them, running late for work, and I just want to SCREAM!!! I was 7 min. late on my first day of work, at the first job I've had in the past 2 1\2 years because it seemed like every fucker trucker was out on a mission to slow me down that day. Grrrr.... :\ Perhaps its my own fault for not leaving the house earlier, but still!!! :p

Haha YES!! I hate this as well! Not with protein though, with Mg/Ca formula. The powder gets all under my finger nails and sometimes spills over the side a little. So annoying!

Don't you mean 18 wheelers? But yeah, I totally understand. Even though there is a law that all trucks must remain in the right lane, they rarely ever do. It's so annoying! :!:X
 
My peeve is parking spaces in parking lots that barely leave any room for you to exit your car after you park. It is nearly impossible to exit your car without crashing your door into another person's car. Even with folding your mirrors in, some asshole will still hit your car! :(
 
Long nails. Mostly on myself, but even on other people, I just see them as so impractical and almost a public declaration of how little one has to do, because they make actually doing anything so much more difficult! Maybe it's just me, but I find writing, typing, applying makeup; basically anything involving the fingers, to be made 100x times harder with long nails. Plus they seem dirty, and I hate the sound of people clicking their nails together.
 


I am peeved. While driving on the highway, is it really necessary for every person to basically slam on the brakes as they pass a median with a police car in it? This pisses me off so much! :X:!

But I also hate it when people drive about 20km/hr slower than the actual speed limit whenever there's a police car driving in the same vicinity.
The speed limit is 60km/hr, not 40km/hr, and you're not going to get booked for driving the speed limit!!
 
i hate it when my guy goes for an impromptu lunch at the Y, and finds a tiny bit of teepee clinging to my ya-ya. when we build our house, i want a bidet!
 
When you say hello to someone and they don't acknowledge your existence.

I'm not asking for a conversation or even a "hello" in return. Just a simple nod, smile, ANY sort of reaction other than just a blank stare.

What law is this? And why haven't I been told about it? I am going to start making citizens arrests. Or citizens Incinerations of out-of-line 18-wheelers.
Either way, they need to be stopped.

Apparently "incinerations" is not a valid word (according to firefox spell check).

WTF. If you an incineration in one place and an incineration in another place, then you have INCINERATIONS. It has to be a word. I should incinerate the dictionary makers also.

OK...I have some idea what you are talking about...vague...but I don't understand exactly what you mean. teepee? ya-ya? the Y? Never heard these words in my life in any context. Oral sex? But what could be clinging to your thing? Toilet paper? How's that possible? Mucho confused.

I think for me the word bidet gave away the meaning, when I think of a bidet I think of a French house having one for the women to wash their privates.

I was going to say something about that post also. First I thought it was about going to the gym. Then I thought it was about camping out.

WTF??? I started a new thread just for people to RANT. It seems SOME people felt my posts didn't belong in PEEVES, so I said fuck it..... I'll start a thread JUST for RANTS. Afterall, they said, a one time experience really isn't a PET FUCKING PEEVE.
I was thanked for it and everything.. I had numerous posters...heck, I even had some people ask me whete I went...why did I leave and such. I left because
I want to RANT. I want to bitch, piss and moan about whatever was bothering me that day. But NO.... :X

Yes. People enjoy ranting and people enjoy reading the rants. Yours have always been among my favorites.

Unfortunately, as you alluded to, certain anonymous "people" (And by "People" I think many of us know who I am referring to) decided to try to ruin the thread for no good reason. At the risk of being cliche, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. And it certainly wasn't broken, so why did they try to fix it? The absurdity is, the thread was supposedly closed (and then reopened with stupid new "rules") because it caused problems, when in fact, the problem really only existed because a certain someone didn't like the rants. Does this person's "ignore" button not work? Can he not just skip ahead to the next post?

The irony is, if this person just IGNORED the posts he claims are causing a problem, THERE WOULD BE NO PROBLEM! There never WAS a problem, aside from the nonsensical capricious meddling of a combative power-hungry individual who has nothing better to do than complain about a thread that few, if any, other BLers have any real problem with.

There is further irony, of course, in the fact that after AOK was told by a SENIOR MODERATOR to "go rant in pet peeves 4.0," that exact thread was then CLOSED because "people are ranting in it and that violates the rules."

Maybe in the future, people should check with senior mods before making rash decisions.
