I just bought 1/2 lb Peruvian torch powder. I really can't be fucked to do an extraction, don't be telling me bout no extractions. Can I put it with anything that will cover the taste or is it really that bad? What about stirring it into yogurt?

It's completely rank with yogurt. It's just forms the most vile gloop. Plus you need a serious amount of yogurt to cover a decent dose, which makes you pretty god damn sick of yogurt very quickly I assure you. Jelly is just as bad.

You can prep it just like you would fresh cactus, i.e., by boiling. You just have to be really careful about keeping the fire low, or else it will burn. Also getting the last bits of water out of the viscous lumps you will be left with can be difficult, but much of the mescaline seems to lurk there.

I think I will be okay withstanding the taste, I'm probably just going to take it by the tablespoon and chase it with sugar water, possibly eat loads of icing. Put on my strongest perseverence mentality.

Another thing is I read in a trip report that someone drank coffee and it ruined the trip through inducing anxiety. Is that because this person was especially sensitive to anxiety or because Mescaline is a potentially flippant drug or the experience is delicate?

I am a heavy smoker and I can imagine the euphoria described making me want to smoke very badly, but don't want to encourage anxiety or a change in the trip with a stimulant.

If I had that much powder I would be doing an extraction. (I know I know I'm just saying)

I just add it to water and gulp down the goop. Its terrible but bearable.

As for anxiety, I find mescaline to be pretty relaxing. Its stimulating but not in an edgy anxious kind of way. I actually decided to quit smoking during my first mescaline trip.

make it into tea. I dont know if you consider that an "extraction" but that would be the easiest route to go

IMO consuming the raw cactus has way too high of a chance of causing gastric distress.

^ Bingo. Your body can't handle raw cactus tissue. It is simply not equipped to handle the stuff; it'll come back up. By all means find out the hard way if you want; I did. ;)

Now I extract :)

Lol, spoken in the true style of someone who has never eaten cactus.

is it really that bad

Oh, you have no idea...

First time I ever had torch powder I tried to just mix it into a glass of water and chug it. 8( Gastric distress is an understatement.

Now I keep some ground up fresh cactus in my freezer and mix a little of it with the powder to boil. You have to boil until the snot bubble bursts and it turns back into a green liquid. I use a wire mesh strainer and the mucilage in the cactus keeps most of the powder and all of the snotballs from falling through. I do multiple pulls this way, usually 4 or 5. I set all of the pulls aside in jars or glasses in the fridge and let the particles drop out. After the liquid comes out any sludge or silt in the jar goes back in the pan for the next pull.

Depending on the container I either pour off the golden liquid of pull it out with a 10cc syringe. It all goes in a pot on the lowest setting on the smallest burner and never reaches a boil. After the last pour I use a square I cut out of the back of an old dress shirt to squeeze the last of the water out. This part can be a slimy bitch, but if you don't get this liquid you will lose a lot of potency.

All of this liquid gets reduced to a drinkable amount over very low heat.

At that point you are left with a lump. If it still smells bitter, it goes in a tupperware in the freezer and may get mixed in later with some other material. If it's odorless it goes in a plastic bag and down the trash chute.
