Perth: Two Tribes --*[THE AFTERMATH]*--

All you bastards are probably munted as all hell and i'm sitting here at my computer on BL.
What a sad, sad life I lead.
Hope all is well.
I'm sure everyone will have good things to say about it.
PEACE

Yay for being at home tending my bruises while everyone who wasted their money on a ticket gurns to the cheesy crappy music that will be at 2 tribes. I didn't want to go anyway :p

Bet everyone has a blast :\

Yup!! Absolutely fukt today! But what an awesome night...
Was extremely humid last night...And the top balcony was PACKED with gurners! as there usually is.
Great to meet all you guys out there last night! U all know who u are. =)
Bump into some of you guys off and on!
Mauro Picotto rocked! was probably the highlight of my night. BT was average i thought
But when i got there Koma and Bones was playing & they had some very funky tunes! was all gewd...

And if the heat wasnt bad enough outside with lil to no breeze of air...Old Berlin was an absolute sauna fest!!
Got a big heat wave as u walk in there...
Green Velvet was pretti good...Didnt get to see Tomcraft though!! urghHhh, Did any1 see him??? How was he?

Hey guys,
Sorry we missed meeting you all (except ASTRO), got up there shortly after but missed you:( Anyway was an awesome night, although the heat at Berlin caned you!!

Gday all, well I met some of you on Sunday night... Wicked. 2 tribes was awesome, but I thought Picotto was a bit of a let down, his tunes just didn't seem to inspire me. Luckily I saw bits and pieces of Fergie, all of BT and the end of Lucien Foorte which just kicked ass.

And what was the deal at the end of Picotto's set? I thought there was going to be a riot. Honestly, the guy's a professional DJ and if he wants to play a certain song as a finale, he should time it so it coincides with the 6am finish. The immature pricks (Piccotto and Fergie i think it was) should know full well that there are laws that say that the show's gotta stop at 6am - trying to make out that Metro's management are the bad guys is pretty stupid. Metro's puts up with a lot of shit as far as bending the law goes (you know what I mean when you see how fucked everyone was there), so I don't think people can complain.

Anyway it was a top night.

PS. If anyone saw the Lucien Foorte set, could they tell me the name of the last tune he played? Ive got it stuck in my head.

good night i think, im still recalling memories of the night.
ur my hero bok

Glad to hear Koma+Bones was funky ass breaks, worried about Picotto letdown, expected BT boringness, and psyched about Lucien Foort....

Melbs TT kicks off in 4 days.....it will be madness trying to work out who to see....check out the Melbs thread for a look at my predicatment! :D

Glad you had a good time despite a few hitches by the sounds of things.... :)

bt != boring;
tnargus = heathen :)

it's a little distressing to hear about picotto though...hopefully he's good @ melbourne. bok bok, did he play tech, trance, or a bit of both - and which are you typically a fan of?

I aggree with bok bok, Picotto played one of the most disappointing sets i've ever seen. Played fairly laid back sort of stuff would puff away on his durrie, throw in 10 second drum roll, back to laid back tune and durrie... repeat.

Couldnt believe it. Maybe he picked up in the middle, when i left to find better tunes. I came back for the end though and he still couldnt maintain any intensity for more than about a 20 second drum roll burst or increased base. I really hope for the rest of the country that he was just having an off night...

Overall TT rocked though... I didnt think the music was inspired (personally I think AVB took them to the cleaners in his 6hr set) but a good event.

Sorry i didnt make it too the meet, i think i was a little late .. that balcony was so crowded! Spent most of it at the Old Berlin. Tomcraft impressed me, as did Green Velvet. I saw the end of Koma & Bones, and most of Hybrid but didnt make it too the metro's dancefloor .. it seemed a little too packed. Besides putting up with the heat i managed to dance for a fair while at the Berlin!

Didnt think this years Two Tribes lived up to my expectations having had such a good time last year. But i did have a good night anyway .. and hope everyone else did.

hows this for poor form, i get the mail today, and in it is 2 tickets to two tribes, sayin congrats that i had won some competition. because we have just moved house it had been redirected and then sent late, im so devo.

yeah picotto jus never got the crowd going, very laid back for the end of the night

Yeah, Picotto played very uninspired tek... Not my sort of stuff really.

A lot of people in these forums get upset when events like these bring more commercial DJ's to Perth, but in my recent experience, the commercial DJ's have wiped the floor over the more underground artists.

Roger Sanchez at both summadayze and Sunshine people the year before simply kicked arse. Junkie XL was insane at Ministry last year. Groove Armada have gone off both times I have seen them. I have an Oakenfold set that never leaves my car. Fatboy Slim live on Brighton beach is one of the best events I have ever seen (if only via DVD).

I'm hoping that Perth gets a few big name DJ's touring this year - if not only to reinstall my faith in getting a night's worth of entertainment for $70. Hopefully we aren't delving too far into the "mainstream isn't cool" frame of mind and start appreciating that some dance music has widespread popularity because it is actually pretty fucking good.

hmmm..... well two tribes was fuking awesome, BT played a sic set, koma and bones were downright funky, tomcraft were good too. And apparently fergie was good (i cant remember his set, i think i was running back and forth over the train tracks at that point in time).

But i must say, TT was nothing but a piece of warm turd when compared to AVB. I found two tribes to be somewhat lacking in the music department, Armin Van Buuren wiped the floor with ANY fuking DJ at TT. YAY FOR ARMIN!!!

How's this for irritating!?

Planet Funk, Junior Jack and Kid Creme (Which I know all happen to be personal favourites of yours Bok Bok) are touring early April with the newly formed 'Future Tours'. This would be a mad event that I would willingly fork out inordinate sums of money for yet they're not coming to Perth. They're even going to Adelaide and wait for it... Tassie(!), but not coming here.

:X

TT

My 2 cents on 2 Tribes:

I got there fairly early after probably a couple too many beers, along with yes'm, Rollwithit and Bok Bok (Who were in a similar state - especially Bok Bok) after a full day in the sun.

After 5 minutes of Koma and Bones I was impressed and looking forward to more of the same but in my opinion it was predominately downhill from there (music wise that is ;) )

BT wasn't bad, fergie was ok and Piccotto had his moments but I thought all in all the music was a bit of a letdown.

I agree with Bok Bok's comments above in that some highly commercial djs have actually been awesome (most notably Junkie XL at Ministry 2003) when not expected (by me) to impress. There almost seems to be a pattern of djs I expect a lot from letting me down and those I expect nothing from being more enjoyable (with a few notable exceptions, eg. Tiesto, Groove Armada, Roger Sanchez this year who all delivered on expectation).

But hey, I had fun @ Two tribes and I'd do it all again if I could.

What's up next guys?

^^

The state you and bok bok have been in at those shows you would have been dancing to the music of a TV comercial... let alone the music of a comercial DJ ;)

i quite liked this event but i think i enjoyed Armin better, not as packed not as hot, but overall still a very enjoyable night, quite enjoyed BT, alot of ppl hate his stuff, and also liked piccotto.....

good to meet some of yas to..

seeyas next time :D
