Going out in Perth?

Hey Aussies,

A friend of mine just went to Perth in order to work there. Could any of you recommend any good (preferably rather "underground") clubs or rave venues?

Raves don't come into the party scene until around mid year..But tell your friend to hit up Northbrdge.

Northbridge is a world class destination, just 1km walk from central Perth. Northbridge is a vibrant and exciting area with cafés, restaurants, bars, shops, nightlife, cultural events and festivals.

Tell your friend that Saturday night is the go, and to check out The Rise, The Mint. They are my two favorite clubs but there are plenty more to chose from

Hm, my friend mainly listens to Drum and Bass, but also other kinds of electronic music (Dubstep, Techno, House). So anything EDM-related could be helpful.

Just check out the two free newspaper gig guides that come every thursday. Should be easy to find them and they will let you what is happening around Perth!

And tell him to listen to RTR FM 92.1 on wednesday afternoons for the drum and bass show. Actually any afternoon 3-5 Full Frequency they always have a good gig guide and good tunes.
They even have restreaming online so you can listen to it any time.

hey uf you are under 21 rise and mint would be pretty cool, but alot more people will be at shape and ambar with a better crowd, as for northbridge most perth people know to avoid it after 8 on a friday or saturday, try subiaco or even fremantle... as for bush raves it is the season so keep your ear to the ground

Hey Perth party people, I'm going to Perth in late November and was wondering what are some cool things to do while there? I currently live in Melbourne so I'm not rural or anything so it might take me a bit more to get excited haha. I know here we have places you can go that are real cheap to get drunk at and have a decent time (I'm 19 if that helps), are there any equivalents of that?
I'll be staying in South or East Perth also, I heard Northbridge is alright but apparently it's kinda dodgy? Or is that just media BS like how they say Melbourne is violent?
Alsoooo, any good day-time activities?

It really depends, I've never had trouble in NB, but a lot of people do. Leederville Pub has half priced cocktails on Wednesdays, thats all I really know

I mainly hang out at Rise when I go out.

Places to Visit

The Northbridge entertainment district is a great place for tourists to visit after hours, and offers many activities including: Street Fights, Binge Drinking, and Rape.

I love the Casino. EVE is ok but due to lack of dress code, we have certain people rocking up dressed similar to characters like Ali G or 50 Cent.

If I'm bored, ill stroll down to the Casino just to walk around, have a few drink's and you're pretty much guaranteed to bump into some you know.. The atmosphere is awesome and if your feeling lucky try your luck at some of the Casino games..

WARNING: If you're thinking of betting, stay away from silentangst, because yes, he is evil and will take everything you lay down.

EVE? please. i've never felt safe there. you're right about wandering around the casino though, but surely there are better places to see if you haven't been to Perth before.


just go into the city and find a bar and move from there. I hadn't been out for agggggges and a few mates and I started at 1907 (a bar in a little alley in the city - always quality women and greeeat cocktails... good place to start), then moved on to WolfLane, then to Helvetica. All these places aren't clubs but they're decent establishments with good vibes and hot peeps - plus they're in little lanes and alleys in the city so they're not usually packed with wankers or paralytic skanks.


Also, I've recently heard a new place in William street called 'The Bird' is pretty good. I think I recall the same person saying they play Dub-step on some nights. The catch is the place is tiny so if it's a busy night you'll have no chance of getting in. Like I said, I haven't been there but from all reports its ok. If you're after a club I'd try either:
- Geisha
- Ambar
OR
if you're not phased by going to a gay club, Connies has probably the best sound system and regular DJ's in Perth. Plus hot fag-hags hang out there so there is always eye candy....
