in a strangers house i wake
in a strange bed - there is no light

looking around is merely moving
my head this way and that
nothing is defined - no crease
of light in the darkness
no evidence of even room, only the weight
of my body against the bed

my foot reaches down to find the floor:

in this, detail and colour are not required
a couch or chair and lamp
anywhere

but the perspective still needs to be
but not too much please

colour and inventiveness
a box or cabinet under the painting
do not make up for poor measuring
or technique

what happens past the glass door
if you decide to go that way

this bring up a bunch of different emotions. i sense sadness and excitement. constant contemplation and awareness, and in the last stanza a sense of mystery and exploration.

i also liked the form of the poem, with your words you allow my eyes to trace your motions, seeing what you saw in the description of your words.

its good to have you back gracing the words section again. i hope it provides you with a flood of creativity, and that you post a small fraction of it here for all of us to enjoy.

and my favorite part:

in this, detail and colour are not required
a couch or chair and lamp
anywhere

but the perspective still needs to be
but not too much please
