Personality and the drug you use

Amongst my friends and aquaintances, I've noticed a difference in the personalities in relation to the different drugs they use. And keep in mind I've known these people for years and years, and all the people I'm thinking of had these personalities even before their drug use.

My friends who smoke weed tend kind of shady, but patient people.
My friends who roll on E tend to be more controlling, and implusive people.
My friends who trip/shroom tend to be kind of...well, odd...for lack of a better word.
My friends who drink tend to be more outgoing and social.

So I know my descriptions are somewhat vague. But do you ever notice any correlations similar to these or maybe different? If so, what?
 
I've always wondered this, I'm a frenetic kind of guy, my life revolves around speed, fast motorbikes, DH MTB, racing, fast heavy music. So you'd think i'd be into ups, but no my DOC are almost always opies though i did used to like abit of White with my Brown.
 
And people that do all of those?
I like weed A LOT. And I'm that farthest thing from shady. and certainly not always patient.
 
i drink more than i do anything else, and i can say im social and outgoing while im drinking, but im not like that at all on a regular day.
i smoke alotta bud too, and i've been told by one of my friends that im the least shady person they know, no reason to be. but im very impatient.
i also like driving fast everywhere, and fast music, but i hate speed.
 
I don't think shady is the right word for my stoner friends/aquaintances. I guess I feel like they tend to tell lies. But upon thinking about it, I realized that it's not that they're lying...they just don't remember very well, lol.
 
So they tend to be "absent minded" or "space cases". Yes, I am very much that way. In the last 2 months I have lost my digital camera and a credit card...
But I tend to kinda "have my head in the clouds" normally, so it may not be the weed at all.

I smoke weed everyday . I'm not shady .


There's no way a certain drug appeals to differnt personalities .
There's a wide range of people who use drugs .

Like I know people who are shady and smoke weed . BUT I also know people who are the total opposite of shady and they are quite intelligent, happy , outgoing social people .

And it applies to all other drugs as well
 
i'm like my delta9 but i'm not shady. I'm Anti social as far as i dont suffer fools, and they seem to grow their numbers by the minute. I'm patient with the big things in life but cannot handle the chick behind the counter taking her own time helping me.
 
I'm just a generally laid back person, although I suffer from anxiety. Downers are my drugs of choice. I take methadone daily, and periodically take benzos but am trying not to get a habit to benzos again because I have been there, and the withdrawals were worse than dope. I also like smoking bud. I really do not like uppers very much at all anymore, although i'll do a line of blow or speed if someone cuts one out for me, but i'll never spend on it.

So I guess my personality loosely fits my choice in substances, but there is no way to generalize something like that. I know scumbag junkies, and normal functioning heroin addicts who are genuinely good people. Stereotypes can never be accurate for every individual case.

Wasn't there a thread like this called Upper people vs. Downer People or something like that?

Well I'm a mostly an introvert with a very unstable personality and mood. I've been using meth (my drug of choice) hardcore for 2-3 years, but I've tried almost everything. Just depends on my mood. Sometimes I'd much rather lax out on opiates or smoke some weed.
 
Yeah I didn't say anything but although you may see SOME trends it seems impossible to lump people into categories based on their drug use. I mean it seems like everyone does weed around here.
 
^ Pretty much everyone I know that does any drug, at all - also smokes weed..and the ones I know personally, are not shady in the least. But OP - I do kind of know what you mean.

Here's what I've noticed about the drug scene in Southern California, as far as the majority of users I've witnessed over my career:

Methamphetamine: low-income, uneducated, distinctly negative lifeview..
OR socially stable, emotionally unstable, educated - usually female (used as weight reducer/sociality enhancer)

Weed: fuckin everyone..but there are those who ONLY smoke weed, who use it as a reality-dimmer..or antidepressant...or coping mechanism for early adulthood, often starting daily use somewhere between 18-21...often seem unattached to themselves..

Heroin: very sense-oriented, both side of education, all extremes of financial status, hedonistic, escapist...

Pills: fuckin everyone again, but there are those who ONLY do pills, whether opiates or benzos, and they usually are educated, socially/financially stable, "addictive personality" often admitted, lack of/lots of sexual attention makes no difference..

Psychs: intellectual to a moderate degree, even if self-taught, abstract, socially unstable, escapist, experience-seeking, more comfortable in foreign states of mind than their own..

Of course, there are many exceptions to these generalities - I am one, in fact. But those are the majority of users I have come across and observed.
 
I did meth for awhile but I don't fit the stereotype. Although I see LOTS of people around here like that for sure. I'm not sure if meth just pulls people like that into it or if it causes it. It doesn't take much for meth to destroy your mind and your life. It is very much the chicken or the egg thing.
I also can be very much into pills and I do consider myself the addictive personality/thrill/experience seeker.

My thoughts exactly, lol.

I think regular drug use influences personality whether its positive, negative or both no matter what. Now when you're like the definition of a poly-drug user such as myself and get high daily on different substances, I wonder what could be, is, or has been said about my 'personality'. I mean yeah going through the drug stages/phases changes your persona kinda temporarily, yknow. for example, the time in your life where you're just a stoner, lounge around and smoke bud all day, then there's cliche tweakers and junkies and what not.

for this thread specifically though, from my point of view and my area (suburban area), here's basically what you see and get:

Everyone in my area smokes weed, literally. Not literally, but in my suburban neighbourhood it's quite strange how shunned almost every single drug is now, except bud. You'd think my area was based around bud because it's so big. Unfortunately what that means is there's a few basic stoner groups: the pros like myself :p where marijuana is use for many different reasons, always smoked effective and efficiently, yet it's not even a major part of mine/our lives anymore, although we love it dearly. Then there's the more noob yet hardcore stoners, who neeeed bud no matter what and if they're serious douchers then it has to be they're preferred method too (usually bong or blunt). These guys and gals are generally quite boring and just smoke themselves stupid. and of course lastly there's just the friendly, occasional user who likes to enjoy their lives a little bit more a couple times a week. They are chill all the time, as they use the bud to enhance they're perception on life.

there isn't even much to discuss about the groups and they're personalities, cuz like I said there's nothing really major around here. The K-tards are more fiendy though than the E-tards lol.

But considering you can't even find smack in my area, it's soft as hell.
