Personal experiences with Benzo/Opiate combination.

I am about to go through this myself..and have been dreading it for days..
Sorry..off topic again.

<3token

The w/d's are no joke. But then again I went down from about 250mg of valium/day (in equivalent doses of other benzos) to 25mg within the same two weeks of going c/t on 800mg of tramadol. I'm sure the benzos caused a great deal of the withdrawals.

I started using tramadol again after a month and a half of total abstinence. (except the valium for my benzo taper)
I'm not gonna let it become an addiction again though. Atleast not physically. I'm still somewhat addicted to it psychologically. I'm also using smaller doses. (still significant, but trying to cut back.) And I'm gonna take breaks to avoid addiction/withdrawals. Hope that works out okay.

Oh well, it helps me with pain, depression and all the shit that comes with that.

Good luck getting off the stuff though, its w/ds are really nasty.

If I don't succeed in controlling my habit this time I'm going off it for good. I know I can handle c/t if I have to. I had a box lying right next to me when I was withdrawing, so it's not that I lack the willpower once I put my foot down. For me the benefits just outweigh the downsides if I can keep my use limited.. I hope I can.

Have fun, be safe.

Im on 400mg of tramadol, 10mg valium and 2mg klonopin. I'm chilling nicely too. =)

I must lack the enzyme which makes Tramadol a "fun" experience... All it does is give me a headache and doesn't feel recreational in the slightest. It does help with opioid withdrawals but that's about it. The longest I was ever on Tramadol was about 5 days, 100mg/day. I've never felt the need to go any higher, especially with the seizure risk. Tramadol is just a weird substance for me, in general.

Yeah I hear/read that alot. It's definitely a weird substance. It's a hit-or-miss thing really. I guess I'm a good tramadol metabolizer. I can get a good nod off tramadol most of the times. It's better with a benzo and/or weed though IME.

The good part about tramadol is I can just get up and act normal any time I want during a nod, useful for when my parents walk in while I'm nodding and similar situations. =D The nod is great, not too weak and not too strong, and very "dreamy". But if i want an even stronger nod (like today) which IME is comparable to oxy I'll just add some codeine & optionally a benzo and/or a little bit of weed. That'll get me nodding hard. The benzo's and weed aren't necessary though. I just like the synergy. Another good thing about tramadol is it doesn't "impair" me (make me slow/unproductive) like the stronger stuff tends to do. If I add codeine that's another story though. :D

ot: Having a great chill-time on 200mg tramadol, 200mg codeine & 20mg valium.

Lormetazepam seems to mix well with tramadol (also on a small amt. of tilidin right now)
Makes for a fun time. Not advisable when you have to be productive though. =D

I've overdosed from benzos + opiates (when young and stupid- oh what wonderful things the internet has done, where the fuck were you 15 years ago?) twice...so I can voutch for its inheirant dangerousness, but I still do it (I'm high on morphine and midazolam atm)- not because there's some magical way to do it safely (I've come close to overdosing a bunch of times, but so has everyone who fucks with this combo tbh) but because it feels great.

Junkie logic- it's a beautifully retarded thing.

I favour short-intermediate duration, fast come on benzos with a strong hypnotic component- I'm not that fussy, but I most definately prefer midazolam, triazolam, nitrazepam or temazepam to alprazolam/diazepam/clonazepam/lorazepam. I particularly dislike clonazepam actually- it's a very 'clinical' feeling benzo, sure it has a good anti-anxiety effects and is a fairly good muscle relaxant at recreational doses but there just isn't much euphoria or sedation.

One of the best features of this combo that isn't often mentioned is it can help you keep more normal hours- I find that taking high doses of opiates often (paradoxically) makes it hard to actually 'get-to-sleep-and-have-some-REM-sleep' rather than 'nod-nod-nod-wake up- scratch scratch- nod-nod-nod'. If you are using opiates + benzos you'll take less of your opiate (well, one hopes...if you enjoy not passing out/potentially dying) and have a benzo to help you initially fall asleep.

As long as you have a LOUD obnoxious alarm, you'll get to sleep at a reasonable time and get up when you intend to.

For those truely unconcerned with their personal welfare should try adding ketamine or some other NMDAr antagonist. I may have been convinced I was going to die, but morphine/midazolam/methoxetamine/ketamine was probably the most euphoric opiate-experience I've had. Actually ketamine/methoxetamine/desmethyltramadol was what got me addicted to opiates this time round. Ketamine (not MXE) and junk is probably safer and more enjoyable, if far more horribly psychologically addictive, -TOO MANY reward buttons being pressed at once- than takinng benzos and opiates.

I am very aware of how dangerous it is, and am usually very careful while mixing such drugs. I'll sometimes take a very small amount of a benzo, by my standards - maybe 1mg clonazepam - and take a little less of the opioid than I would normally take. It's not absolutely necessary, but I find they synergize nicely. Long-lasting, muscle-relaxing benzos which are not very sedative are the best in my opinion - strongly sedative benzos with opiates sounds reasonably bad.

Particularly with tramadol - which I was quite badly addicted to - I would eventually always have to take a benzo if I wanted tramadol, because my doses were in the 600-1200mg range. I felt very spastic, zappy, and hoped the clonazepam would lower the seizure risk. It did the trick, but I quickly realized I should probably start getting off the tramadol, and I did.

for the most part i stopped mixing the two

every time i took more than a moderate dose of benzos with my opiates i ended up just falling asleep, and a small dosage doesn't really feel like it potentates or anything

i would always wake up at some oddball time, hating myself for wasting my nod

Personally I like to let two 10mg diazepam melt under my tongue slowly.
Once they have melted totally away is when I start smoking my heroin. Then after I've been smoking for around 20-30mins I then swallow another 10mg diazepam.
I find doing it this way that the 2 pills I took under my tongue kick in fairly quickly whilst I'm enjoying smoking my heroin and then a little while later the pill that I swallowed will kick in and help me in my quest for a nice chilled out evening.

I don't have experience with midazolam, triazolam etc. So can't really compare.

@Psychonauticunt, Yeah I've been there, and still kinda am. I used to take 800mg of tramadol every day. I quit that c/t (its wds are hell) 1.5 months, and then I started again. :/ I now take the max. recommended dose (400mg/day) and I don't get the bad side-effects I used to get. I used to take clonazepam for the exact same reason, increasing seizure threshold. I stopped using that as an excuse. :D I'd prefer getting back on oxies instead of tramadol, but the doc won't let me. Oxy w/ds aren't nearly as bad (for me atleast) as tramadol w/ds.

@maxalfie I agree that for mixing with opiates lower doses are preferable. I like to take 10mg valium before and 10mg after taking my opiate. But xanax or lormetazepam are definitely fun too ime. They (especially lormetazepam) are more sedating I'll admit, but I usually don't fall asleep unless I decide to. It's not a combo I'd do every day though. (short acting/hypnotic + opiates) Valium on the other hand.. I need to take 10mg just for maintenance so not really a choise there. I should really get rid of the phys. addiction. Meh. Slow and steady.

@China Yeah if you fall asleep that sucks. I do think moderate doses potentiate though. Atleast they do for me.

Joint withdrawal from tramadol and benzos was worse than any hell I could imagine. Just the tramadol is like coming off both an opiate and an antidepressant, and benzos are even worse. I'd been on high doses of both for a few months.

I love to mix two 2mg xanax bars with my bottle of mdone 72.5mg kiss the next 18 - 24hrs goddbyeeeeee!

BEWARE OPIATES AND BENZO WITHIN MODERATION Please it is a nice buzz but please BEWARE I know of so many close friends passing away for that exact reason the combination of Opiates and Benzo's it is a deadly combination if you use stronge Opiates and Benzo's. Life is to important to chance.... My husband said when you die you wake up doing exactly what you was doing that caused your death and to be strung-out and wake up on the other side confused seems awful scary to me,just an FYI cause I love everybody truely

DISCLAIMER: This combination is not safe in any way possible. We recognize that this is a popular one amongst drug users and will continue to be so. This thread is about discussion of your own personal experiences with the combination and not about advising others in how to "safely" use these substances together. Any posts with suggestions, advocation, etc. that arent in the spirit of harm reduction will be unapproved.
Yup.

Not to be offense but Tramadol is weak and stupid. When I was in Hurghada,Egypt I spent allot of time going to the pharmacys and you can get 200mg of Tramadol without a prescription. Your suppose to have one but they cater to tourist. Me personally, I was hoping to find something stronger. My husband tells me now they had a street drug called effron you could get and you suck on it like a hard piece of candy. Effron is an Opiate if he would have told me this while I was there he could have save me hundreds of hours at the pharmacy looking for something equal to a perk or stronger. Does anyone know of this drug called Effron. I would like to know that way if I go back I know what I am looking for is it maybe like opium?

since i get prescribed 60 1mg kpins a month, my normal routine is to hold one under my tongue while I sniff my lines of H, then take a whole or half of another kpin (depends on dope strength)

i feel like it ends the nod, makes it stronger, but i can also DEFFINATELY tell the tole that it has my breathing. be forwarned.

Its a great combo and i will take like half of each dose if i mix. But i find that sometimes, if you take a strong dose of a benzo it makes the opiate euphoria go away by just a little. It always makes you nod harder that's for sure but at certain times i find the benzo dulls something out about the opiate.

Unfortunately my experience on this combo is pretty limited. To my memory I have only done valium & tramadol, xanax & heroin, and clonazepam & oxycodone. They were all flipping fantastic (obviously lol). I liked klonopin & oxy the most, even though I blacked out for part of it, what I can remember was still one of the best nights of my life.
