Misc Personal amounts and international travel?

Have never been caught taking personal amounts and have taken H to Berlin, Rio & France from UK and K a few times (once got in a K-hole on the plane which was fun). I did get searched once though as they very narrowly missed the peanut sized lump in my pants.

I think answer to OP question is difficult though - lot's of variables. One of those where getting caught with a personal amount could be anything from no-stress at all to plenty -stress!

Close friend of mine had 0.5-ish g of some hash in his pocket that he'd overlooked (had gone squidgy) and they found it at Heathrow customs and just threw it in the bin and told him to be nmpore careful in future - but I bet it could easily have gone in a different direction on another day. I would personally never smuggle anything over a country border just for the peace of mind.

I once filled up an empty bottle of mosquito spray with liquid ketamine and got it back from india - UK no stress. Looking back though that was really dumb of me.

I think in most places with closer to normal drug laws they are mostly concerned with catching actual smugglers, so won't really be looking intensely for small amounts. I doubt you would get anything more than a caution if you were caught with minute amounts.

First off, peanut sized lump in your pants? I would have worded that differently ( not making a joke about you, or any assumptions, just that way you described the lump in your pants)

Also, as a foreigner going to Rio with Heroin, that is a very foolish. The Brazilian prisons are absolutely horrible, especially if you are a foreigner their.

The prisons in Brazil are beyond horrible and the UK government can't really do anything to help you.

Yeh I know, super dumb. I was going to meet my now ex's family and was fearing out about turning up in acute withdrawal so I panicked.
Would have been a lot worse if I'd turned up in jail though ngl

I'd never knowingly do it either. I'd be so paranoid and and anxious that I'd probably stand out a mile off. On the other hand my occasional Autistic blank expression could work in my favour. I wouldnt want to put it to the test though.

I've personally experienced such chaos at Manchester Airport when returning from the USA a few years ago, the lines were insane, it was as if dozens of plains had all arrived at once, so everyone was just getting herded through the gates in their hundreds with absolutely no checks at all. So any reports of chaos at any particular airports could be the best time to try something like this, if anyone really must. But still a really terribly bad idea imo. With the technology these days the chances of getting caught are extremely high.

The flight on the way out was quite the opposite. I was "selected" for enhanced screening which involved being taken to one side for intense swabbing down of my belt and fly zipper area, and various other random spots on my clothing and luggage. It was quite interesting to see what they checked, and how, knowing that I was as clean as a whistle and they would not find a trace of anything.

Anyone would be much better off just buying the stuff via the DNM if struggling for sources and desperate to get stuff into the country.

I really dislike some of the jobsworths that work in airport security. One French customs inspector was going nuts at me with so much attitude, all because I had a tin of ravioili in my hand luggage, left over from a camping holiday. I can't imagine what he'd have been like if I'd actually had something actually illegal or dangerous; weapons, bombs, class A drugs etc. I think his head would have exploded if he'd found something that serious, considering the way he lost the plot over a tin of ravioli. I was just like 'shrug - i really could not care less. Confiscate the fucking ravioli if you deem it that much of a threat to the safety of the airline and other passengers'. At least I hoped that's what my body language and facial expression conveyed.

Another time, another place, and another security official was determined to find something amis in my luggage. My most heinous offence on that occassion was that my deoderant spray was too big apparently. I had not been organised enough or that much of a seasoned traveller to know that apparently you're supposed to travel with smaller size aerosol type things.

If I ever do actually try to smuggle anything illegal, I'll be sure to have a tin of ravioli in my hand luggage, and an extra large deoderant aerosol. The staff will probably get so het up about those red herring abonimations, that they won't search for anything else!

I'm not serious, I'm not going to smuggle anything, but the extreme reactions I've received for such trivial things suggests that they very rarely find anything.

Of course it must depend on which particular border you are crossing. I've seen all those shows about how much smuggling there is attempted over the border from Mexico to the USA and how hardcore the security is. Literally stripping motor vehicles apart in some cases where they suspect contraband is hidden.

I have flown a number of times with drugs domestically in the US and to Europe and South America, but it's only been with just a few opiate pills, in case I hurt myself hiking. Toss a couple vicodins in a bottle of acetominophen, it isn't at all obvious to the eye, but maybe some sniffing machine would notice.
Actually, what makes more nervous are the dogs, but someone told me those are for bombs. I'm not persuaded, though, I think the dogs in US Customs coming back from Peru were for drugs. In any case, I carry nothing coming home to the US because I think our Customs are more picky.
