when i take vyvanse at around 7 in the morning i feel it wear off around noon. ive read that some people get an ir medicine called a "booster". something like dexdrine or adderall to help them with the rest of the day. my doctor has only upped my vyvanse once in two months from 20mg to 30mg. i dont want her to just up it again especially if its going to be upped by a tiny 10mg. i have an appointment with my doctor tommarow morning and i want to suggest getting a booster, specifically dexdrine as ive heard good things about it. i would rather just switch to an ir medication but when i switched from strattera to vyvanse my doctor said if i felt i wanted to try a new medicine after shed just assume i dont have ADD and my ADD problems are actually stress or something stupid. also when i suggested adderall after strattera she said she would rather not because it would surpress my appetite( even though vyvanse does too) so i think shes against adderall. for my situation would getting an ir booster for the rest of the day be a better choice than upping my vyvanse? and if my doctor argues against it should i go to another doctor?

Although the attached graph is for a 70mg dose, I would assume it is a good indicator of the relative timescale for release of dextroamphetamine. I would think that it is not in fact wearing off 5 hours after dosing so much as you are no longer coming up, and with no change in how you are feeling you can't tell it is still in your system and doing its thing.

As for what is best for you, I think that is something you need to discuss with your doctor and this question is quite close to a "what should I say to my doc to get a drug" thread which we do not allow.

Since it appears you like the come up more than the actual effects I would say you actually might not need this drug and IR will merely become something you use to chase the stronger and stronger feeling and could be susceptible to abuse. I'm not a doctor though and you could very well want IR amps to abuse which is fine as well :)

you might want to look up use of antacids to make the effects stronger/last longer.
But i dont know if this works with vyvanse because of the lysine binded to the dextroamphetamine.
And 30 mg is a kinda low dose.
about 1/3 of the pill is dextroamphetamine so 30mg is about 10mg give or take a few mg.
I personally like vyvanse more than adderall or dexedrine because of how long it last and it has like half
of the bad side effects the other stimulants do.
I take 70mg at about 7-9 in the morning and it dosent ware off until about 6-7 in the after noon.

ha noo not at all. i dont feel the focusing effects past noon which i still need. ive read about other people with vyvanse getting perscribed boosters to help them the rest of the day because they dont get the focsuing effects for that long either. so i thought if it works for them then maybe it could work for me. and its not so much as a "what should i say to my doctor" as much as its" should i bother suggesting this to my doctor"

Although I don't know you or your doctor, I believe that since you are currently only taking 30 mg Vyvanse once daily, you will not be the best candidate for a Dexedrine prescription.

Eat healthy, take vacation days, and keep your amp tolerance low. If you legitimately need IR amps your pdoc will prescribe you them. It may take some time, but doctors usually have a good idea what they're doing.

Of course, this is completely my subjective opinion; drugs interact differently within everybody due to deviations in our unique homeostasis, reactions to drugs, metabolisms, thought patterns, etc.
