Percocets/Tattoo

OK my tattoo artist suggested taking percocet's or T3's before I get my tattoo done.

I have no tolerance built to either.

Is this safe?
 
sure, just don't take a big dose. 5-10mg would probably be about right, but don't expect a high or anything.
 
The last time I had some ink done, I took about 40 mg of oxy and had no problems.
Although, doesn't oxycodone thin your blood? I'm no expert, but could excessive bleeding interfere with the artists work?
 
Ibelieve acetometaphine (I spelled that wrong) is what things your blood... so if you tooka vicodin or some type of opiate that is mixed with aspiren then its not a good idea. When I got my ink I was on 4 rolls.... and I had a blast getting it and I dont regret it one bit. of course I had it planned before I was rolling so I didnt end up with a rainbow or anything. In short just make sure whatever you take doesnt have an acetometaphine (aspirin) in it and dont drink.. both of these will cause extra bleeding.
 
acetaminophen = paracetamol, not aspirin. Aspirin thins your blood; I don't know about actaminophen.

Anyway - why are you taking pain killers to get tattooed? Are you a pussy? ;)

I wish I could remember exactly what was said, but it was something along the lines of the sharp pain from the process wouldn't be much alleviated by the opiates, because opiates aren't used for things like this, but more for aches and pains. Actually now that I think about it, that topic may have been for a piercing and not tatoo, but I'm not certain, so if you try searching you should find more info to help you out.
 
I would use a topical anesthetic for getting a tattoo. You can find lidocaine based ointments at just about any drug store for fairly cheap.

Taking opiates while getting a tattoo would be perfectly safe and make the process a bit more painless, but it's certaintly not a requirement
 
I have had a bunch of tattoos under the influence of opiates....basically, yea you bleed a bit more, but nothing to write home in blood about. Shit, if you guys get the womens' channel, oxygen, you can see me getting a tattoo (my ex worked for the channel, and she needed someone to get some ink--the piece was about safety, etc, and I didn't even know the place before I showed up--funnier yet, I was wired with the mic and I brought my then girlfriend (now wife) and we were all formally introduced (my gf had not met my exgf, who was trying to still fuck me--wouldnt you still want to fuck me...my dick is like crack)....

anyway, I was wired with the mic and walked outside to smoke a ciggy. I start to tell my now-wife that my ex got fat...which she had not...anyway, my ex runs out and says, before you start to make fun of me, please be aware that I am hearing everything you say....

anyway, the video is a fucking goof...I got a television copy from the channel...I am clearly wacked on high doses of oxycontin (this was about 3 years ago), pupils pinned like a ghetto bowling alley--I start to show some of my previous tattoos, performed by my friend (who, albeit is an artist, never tattooed and ordered the gun through the mail, which came with a stinking t-shirt that said "tattoo artist")....anyway, i was harm reducing;,....

No - I've never been tattoed. I'm getting the sides of my torso done, the artist said that on the ribs is the most painful spot for tats (and I'm skinny) :p

The artist is not a hack at all - he's known internationally, actually, and I had to book him months in advance.

I would be taking one oxycontin (crushed up, I think)...I don't care if there is pain, I don't find opiates to be all that effective at "killing" pain. They just seem to make it more bearable.

I just realized that I wrote Percocets.

I meant to say Oxycontin. Should I only do half crushed up if I have no tolerance? I don't want to be nodding off or anything.

If you're going to get something special why wouldn't you want to really experience it.

Honestly, if you can't handle a tattoo without some kinda drug crutch (besides maybe some herb...)well, maybe you don't deserve one.

Unless you're a whiney prig you'll be fine.
 
Actually, something that might work, would be capsaicin treatment. Between now and when you get tattooed, get crushed chilli (as "hot" as you can find) and rub it on your skin (where you plan to get the tattoo) at least every 8 hours.

Of course, you want to make sure that it's all off when you go for the tattoo.
 
And opioids won't work. The pain you feel in tattooing hasn't reached the brain, which is where the opioids work.

Sure they would...they may not totally kill the pain (since that's not how they work anyway), but they would make it more bearable. Actually, though, all external stimuli experienced as painful, has been processed at the brain/spinal cord level, and perceived (in your brain...) as pain. If you think it's going to be quite painful, and you want to avoid as much of it as possible, use a combination of externally applied, topical anesthetic (to the actual place that will be getting tatooed), & a centrally acting narcotic analgesic (like the oxy you plan to do).
If you did 40 mg last time & had no problems, you should probably just try to repeat that (possibly w/ the local, too)...:\
 
Do NOT use Emla cream for this purpose. I asked a tattoist about it and he claims that the Emla cream relaxes the skin unevenly, possibly resulting in a warped tattoo.
 
no tats nor piercings for me. I don't understand how my sis or my ex-gf would go and get piercings and tattoes and then would be afraid of trying the drugs I do, guess everyone's different.
But fuck it, I'm a painkiller addict, why would I want to feel the pain? be a man? and all that macho pain-gloryfying crap, plus I don't think they're cool, well the one my ex used to have was nice, since it was smashing pumpkins related and I'm an old-school pumpkinhead, but I wouldn't go thru the hassle and I wouldn't know what to tatto, and I don't think it's art, in the same way I don't think graffiti is art, it's crap., Not taht I have anything against tattoed people, hell I fucked one, and have family members tattoed...
And to the guy who went to the parlor rolling of 4 pills, that must've been fucked-up.
