This may be long, I apologize in advance.

I am a first time poster, and a chronic pain sufferer. I have been in pain management since October 2012 after 4 years of hundreds of medical tests, procedures and surgeries.

Medication Background:

Anyway, I have been on Percocet since Nov 2011 ( 5mg can't remember APAP mg) as needed.

In April 2012, I had a baby, and was given a spinal for a c section. Was bumped up to Percocet 10/325 after my surgery due to tolerance.

In July 2012 I went cold turkey to see if the pain was "real" or not. It was. Went back on Percocet 10/325 4 weeks later.

September 2012- diagnosed via surgical procedure with stage 4 endometriosis and severe Adenomyiosis and a few other minor GYN issues. Was referred to pain management and was told that I would be in pain until menopause, and possibly forever due to the extreme scarring throughout my abdomen.

Pain management doc decided to keep me on what works. Gave 10/325, and we've been steady since. Had a surgery last week to remove more adhesions, PM doc gave me enough to go up to 70mg per day for 2 weeks. Surgeon gave me dilaudid 2mg after surgery in case the Percs didn't cut it. I had general sedation for the surgery, and something strong via IV while in recovery, unsure of what though.

Suddenly, 5 days ago NOTHING WORKS. At all. Can't feel any part of the medicine. I've taken up to 5 within an hour, up to 11 in one day. Nothing. I've tried taking my medicine on an empty stomach, full stomach, with water, with soda. Breaking up pills, taking 2 at a time, half at a time. Seems like everything. Is this normal?? Obviously I've felt them work less over time and I've needed to take more medicine to get the same effect, but NADA, nothing, happening now.

Please help!!!! I cannot stand this pain! I called my PM, they said they're "booked" until Friday and these things "happen." Umm I just had major surgery on top of my normal issues, need relief!

First of all, I want to welcome you to Bluelight. It's really unfortunate you find yourself in this position, and I empathize <3

Your tolerance has just increased, as it will if you continue taking opiods for your pain. It's just part of the game unfortunately. You did the right thing in contacting your doctor, even though you will have to wait...

What I am concerned about is the amount of APAP you are taking every day. 11 pills is over 3.5g of APAP, and that is bad news for your liver. You should tell your doctor that you are taking this much, and he will probably move you on to a formulation with no APAP, for your health.

You can perform what is called a cold water extraction, or CWE. It works on the principle that opiods are freely soluble in water, while APAP is not. You crush your pills, dissolve them in cold water, say from the fridge, and you filter through a dress shirt or coffee filter that you've attatched to the rim of a glass with an elastic. the resulting solution after filtration will contain very little APAP and high levels of opiods.
