Hello. Today I was just let out of the hospital. I had a huge accident and suffered a neck injury. My 4th vertebrae down from my head that controls my right arm is swollen and bulging a bit. My neck is really sore and is stiff. My pain is insane. The two nights that I stayed in the hospital they would only give me 2 512's at a time. They barely worked. In the past I have had more then enough fun with heroin oc 80s and 40s and perc 30s.

I told the doctors I had hi tolerance to percocets. My brother who is a recovoring junkie. Told me I should have told them about my past drug use and tolerance. I didn't want to tell them in fear they would give me nothing. The doctor did that to my brother before. They refused to give him percs and gave him tylenol instead.

I had the conversation with my friends before about what if you do end up in hospital and need pain meds. Do u tell the about your past opiote use.I took the script of 512s. I figured I will take 3 or 4 at a time. I'm not looking to get jammed and if I do I will go get some 30s or 80s.

I have to go see my primary care doctor for a follow up. I'm gunna ask him for some nerve pills such as nuerontin or if he won't give th em I will ask my psychiatrist when I see him in a few weeks. So just how many 512s can you take at a time before you get a stomach ache from that shitty tylenol and that other stuff.

With a little searching, theres info about the max amount of acetaminophen you can have daily/in one dose all over BL, and even all over google. You can also read up on Cold Water Extraction, do it to your whole script and just portion it out in liquid form, so you won't be taking any of the acetaminophen at all.

I would be honest when you go to your doctor, tell him you're still hurting if you are. I feel like when I've needed painkillers and went to the doctor, they KNEW by my face and body language that I was legitimately miserable, and had no issues giving me a prescription. Plus, I've known people who were in the hospital with actual pain, were honest about their past usage, and therefore ended up receiving medications in doses that helped the pain they were having. You were in an accident, thankfully you survived, but next time I would be honest with them --- they have MRIs and Xrays I'm sure, it's quite clear you aren't bullshitting about the pain.
 
When I broke my hip in a bad accident, I was in the same position as you. I was abusing oxycodone (about 100-160mg daily), So I feared that if I told them about my past drug use that they would limit my pain control. So I did not tell them, and even with my high tolerance, I was somehow able to have my pain well-controlled. I was given 2mg of IV Dilaudid every 3 hours along with 20mg of oxyconting twice daily, and was also given xanax (.5mg) and valium (10mg). Of course this took a little of my junkie tactics to achieve, but in the end I came out pretty good. Was also sent home with 30mg of MS contin and 15mg of MSIR.
 
IMO, you shouldn't tell them about your past abuse. It'll be a giant red flag, and they'll see adequately treating your pain with high doses as a risk to their license.

Tell them the truth, your pain isn't being covered, and if they're doing their job right you'll get relief.


Oh, and do a search for CWE, which will help remove most of the apap.
 
Recently I had to have an emergency surgery. The doc was one I'd been seeing for several months and knew about my past addiction (I was on suboxone maintenance). After the surgery I got rx'd 30 5mg pills no refills and when I legitimately needed more I was denied. The ENTIRE experience would have been much easier had they not known I was ever an addict and in the future you better believe I will be withholding that info. Be honest my ass, all they do is judge.
 
This sounds awful and maybe a little off-topic...but I wonder if the type of insurance you have has anything to do with if they will deny you medications or not? Just something I wonder about...the people I know who were honest and got better treatment seemed to all have decent insurance, the not government provided kind (Medicaid).

thanks everyone... ya im just gunna say my pain is still there and the 512s are not doing the job. im sure they will believe me. my mri did show damage.

ya ive done the cwe before. i read places and ive been told by different people that you can also use warm water instead of cold water. i dont feel like doin the extraction. pain in the but plus i will lose a little perc in the process of doing it.. actually maybe i will do a little extracting.... just not my whole script. :)

I have blue cross blue shield hmo plan. the plan is ok so far. they recently changed all the meds/pharmacy rules and exceptions and wut not. but i have yet to have the insurance long enough to know if they will give me trouble for getting certain pain meds.
 
I had the same problem when i broke my shoulder... I was already taking about 40mgs of oc everyday partly for fun and i have some stomach issues that i couldnt deal with anymore but anyways... What i did in order to get something that would actually work is i just told the doc that my friend gave me a pill and it worked wonders. When he asked what it was i told him i didnt know but i described a generic 10mg oc to him and he wrote me a script for 120 of them on the spot :)
 
If it hasn't been said-

Just tell them they're not working well at all, and they only worked a little when you took 4 because you were in so much pain.

Seriously, so many docters are so stupid. They gave me codeine 5mg(or was it 2.5? do they go that low?) for a fractured arm with bone stabbing through a lot of things that lead to horrible pain all the way through recovery! I'm a big guy. 6 of those dulled a headache a little bit, MABY, and didn't help the pain at all. I hate some docters... they were going to "up" me to low dose hydro, I just said fuck it, and went and got my own opiates and smoked a lot of weed(which works pretty good for body pains for me actually, I get way more opioid play from it than most people seem to).
 
Well tomorrow I have to call my Primary Care Doctor to set up a follow up on my injury. He's a M.D. and for some reason I have real difficult problems getting meds from him. He tells me to go to a psychiatrist because he doesn't feel comfortable giving out meds. If I am still in pain in 5 days I am going to be honest with him. He will probably tell me to take Mortin or tylenol.

Also tomorrow I need to call my psychiatrist. I had an appointment with him Monday but had to cancel because I was in the hospital. I'm sure he is going to want to squeeze me in ASAP because its urgent he sees. He is a D.O. instead of an M.D. Hes wicked good about giving out meds. So I'm gunna tell him when I call tomorrow I'm in severe pain then bring it up in my meeting.

I actually have new pain right now that I didnt have before. The doctor told me to limit my physical activity. I ended up washing my car, doing laundry, dishes, food shopping, vacuuming. I was all jacked up on 512s so didnt feel the pain. This 30 pills is only going to last me like 2-3 days :(
But I also take my insurance into consideration. They can only accept x amount of x drug in a certain time. The pharmacy is also limited on when they can dispense certain meds too.....

I have a feeling like I told my friends, I hope I don't slip again back doing the 30s and 80s and h again. Awful habit. it was terrible kicking them. I was clean for a while last year. Then I split the middle of my back open right down my spine. I was in awful killer pain but refused to go to the doctor. So I had to stock up on some 30s and 80s lol
 
I'm pretty sure being honest with him is at this point futile and probably going to set you even further away from actually getting some pain meds that work. He is likely going to assume that the 5's worked just fine for pain and that you are just lookin to get high. Just tell him that shit worked at first but now it's not. The upside to that, is that its true.

On a different note, HOLY HELL!! How does one go about splitting the middle of their back open? And then to top it off you DIDN'T go to a doc?! Dude, your insane. I'd have been buggin the shit outta the docs, cuz I imagine you'd get some decent scripts for an injury like that.

But hey, space that script out, you know what a bad road addiction is. Remind yourself of all of the fucked up shit you did/dealt with and how bad life got while being a junkie. Don't let it just happen to you man. Seriously, space that shit out.

Reading that some of you guys were given bullshit pain meds with serious injuries pisses me off. For a sprained back and various oral surgeries I was given 10mg hydros, and I'm a small female. Bone sticking out and all they gave was codeine? Wow. Honestly though, sometimes I feel private doctors are more likely to give you the meds you need because they know you personally, than the hospital who seems to think everyone is a drug seeker.

And OP, the motrin may not be the worst idea...even when I've been prescribed hydrocodone, they usually want to give me an 800mg ibuprofen script with it (I tell them for money reasons I'd rather just take the OTC 200mg ones, but several at a time for an equal dose). Even for extreme pain, I've found them useful when paired with other medications actually...I feel like them being an NSAID takes some of the swelling down and actually helps the cause of the pain, instead of the opiate feeling which just covers it up.
 
You have abused opiates in the past and you honestly don't know how much APAP to exceed in a 24 hour period?

I find that hard to believe to be honest. The maximum is 4g of APAP in a total of 24 hours, not in one dose though.

I also had an emergency surgery,but I was on methadone,120 mg's/day.they controlled my pain very well.while I was in the ICU I got IV fentanyl.once in the post-op ward I got 48 mg's of er hydromorph twice a day,and 6 mg's of dilaudid for break through,every hour if I needed it!later it was reduced to every 4 hours.I left the hospital with a catheter in my bladder and using a walker.the doctors knew I was in severe discomfort,so giving me the meds was no problem.so I would be honest about tolerance issues,if you're truly in pain,any doctor with a heart should give you the meds you need.but I am in Canada,and our health system is much better then the USA.our doctors actually Will occasionally rx an addict their doc if other options have been exhausted.
 
I never really overdid the 512s or the 10mg or anythinng cuz of the asprin and tylenol. I did way to many 30s and ocscars in my time. At one point I made the switch to heroin. Hooked onthe subs and methadone too.. I m all done with that stuff. I don't want to fall back into into it. But I definitely need something stronger then 512s. If I do get 512s or the other junks pills I do the cwe.. I only did those when I got for frree.
I'm actually debating on grabbing some 30s. Take one a day and 512s as prescribed. Both my primary dctor and psychiatrist can't see me this week then they are both on vacation next week. Wonderful. I'm gunna have to self medicate myself and hope I have enough will power not to slip.


Idk why this was movedc to drug basics. This thread is alittle more indepth then drug basics
