When I was younger I was just big into the drinking/bar scene and even though I loved EDM, never really met other people insanely into it, just people who liked whatever kind of party music and just go to bars/clubs.

Now I live in an awesome area for EDM and I absolutely love a lot of the different scenes (electrohouse, trance, progressive house, dubstep, psytrance, etc), but since I'm in my mid-20's and basically a suit during the day, it's tough to find other people that are also into that scene . What do you mid 20/late 20 somethings do? Right now it's just me and my GF but she just goes mainly to be nice =D

I'm almost happy I didn't realize how fun it was until I was old enough to still be responsible with it. If I discovered this in my younger crazier party days I probably wouldn't have been able to focus on school as much and made stupid choices b/c bars were only fun when I was trashed, but this is actual real fun that could get people into lots of trouble if they get carried away!

I find that if you find somewhere you like, go to it repeatedly (like every week or something), and take lots of MDMA so that you feel loveydovey, you will just end up talking to people and making friends. In fact it's probably easier if you do it on your own (otherwise you just end up talking to your girlfriend).

Very few of my regular friends go clubbing with me, but I've met loads of people clubbing, who I now arrange to go clubbing with.

You'd be surprised at how many of us older folks with normal jobs enjoy MDMA at EDM and other music events. Just look for the people who aren't being bonehead ravers. I don't get to take it except when I am on vacation but I have a network of friends I've met with similar backgrounds at events.

mid 20s is pretty late to be just getting into the scene.... But then again, I got into the scene ridiculously early... Like... getting my parents to drive me 2 hours and drop me off at a music festival for the weekend when I was like 12 or 13.

The easiest way to make friends that are into it is to frequent a venue that you like, litterally make it every week at the minimum.

The people that are really into the scene are the ones that are at the club when NO ONE ELSE is. Also, bump shoulders with the promoters and DJs etc. Especially the ones in your age group.

Im like, the old geezer of the town I live in and im only 25, all the other people in the scene are so young that I just feel.... OLD.

But its nice to be able to remember being in their shoes and seeing them continuing in the paths that led me to where I am today.

Theres nothing wrong with making friends with younger people either... It can be great to have a naive youth to learn from while teaching them .... just in life in general....

Either way you can meet people who are into the scene and then become friends with them, rather than trying to meet people who are in the scene, outside of the scene.

To me there is no scene.......a bunch of people clueless about MDMA so they dance and sweat all night. Or, you stay in your house, learn how to go inside of your own mind, and create new realities in which to play. Raves made MDMA look like beer.....woooooooooooo!!!!!!!
Rant over.

^^^ THIS.

So agree, indoor sessions have developed my love for MDxx. I took it in a club once, and walked around aimlessly while my bird had to look after me like a child. Why not use it inside with friends, listen to music, trip balls and laugh your tatttttsss off?

Mid-20's >< sheesh your not old at all... Maybe in your 40's in the electronic scene you might have trouble...lol

I went to a Skrillex show a while back and felt like me and my friends were the oldest people there by at least 6+ years. I'm surprised kids that young have that good taste in EDM. When I was that age, I was going to frat parties and keggers lol.

I personally wouldn't consider Skrillex stuff as good. But that is a completly off-topic statement.

On Topic: Hm get drunk, do drugs, anything that will lower your inhibitions. Also maybe get a second male friend get into EDM, when you are 2 people your always way more reckless when it comes to approaching people

I'm 24 and feel I'm always one of the older people at raves. I was going to festivals and clubs since I was 18, but just got into the real rave scene when I was 22. I have noticed that the largest raves we have draw some older people at least, but mainly it's going to be younger people.

I am in my early 30's and rejoined the edm scene about a year ago. I was active in my much younger days 1993-1997 in the minneapolis warehouse scene. Life got in the way and i became super busy, blah, didnt do drugs for years, did the suit tie thing and endless school. Joining the local EDM scene was difficult, it was hard to find events at first and get people to go with. I ended up converting some of my straight lace friends into coming to events and showing them how to have a good safe time.

Along the way you just have to be a bit of a social butterfly and make new friends. I don't really care about peoples age or life position, that helps a lot. My gf also really helps as she is younger and is really good at making friends with other girls that end up bringing along their friends. I think the main issue is when you are in your mid-20's you for some reason forget how to make new friends, I know I was like that, its stupid, if you need help use your preferred entactogen.

Be outgoing, make new lifelong friends, you'll enjoy it!

I just ended up making alot of friends who were into it, was friends with them long befre I started doing e...have always loved edm. A coworker that was younger I was hanging out with told all his friends how they had to take me to a rave, lol. Too funny. Ended up going on my own for my birthday last year.

I only like doing it with my girlfriend anyways... everyone else is so damn annoying. I feel like no ones on my level or something. i'm 25 and do construction, not really interested in glow sticks and beads.

Word. I stay at home with my boyfriend when I do. I'm 27 and we have the same birthday :D . I might add, I look about 22, maybe. They ID me for alcohol every time still, lol. My bf is 22 and well, looks 22 :)

Be a cutie, works for me lol.

I found preforming opens alot of doors, working on an art that fits the lifestyle, I met alot of nice girls in the scene by simply dancing well enough to be complimented. be alive be outgoing be fearless be yourself, the community has a smile glued on to it, just fit the frequency and introduce yourself, or compliment!

Haha, wife & me are 40`s and find going out to 99.9% of parties/raves here in the states to be a waste of time.

So its now big events only in NL, Trance Energy, Dance Valley, ect or going to clubs like the Matrixx (Nijmegen,NL) in fact we flew over just for this show>

Haha, well I'm 28 and I started to go to EDM events in the Netherlands about a year ago, even though I enjoyed the music long before that. I also got introduced to MDMA around the same time but just like many others say, if you go to events you'll meet alot of people very easily, at least this is true in the Netherlands. I have build up a large group of friends who visit the same parties I attend and we meet up everytime and party all night, every party the group gets bigger while meeting new people. It's simply amazing. I'm also happy I just got into this at a slightly older age, I would have had more trouble behaving responsibly with the drugs if I would have started going to these events at the age of 18 or even younger.

As you can see we've been at this since the lates`90s, going to NL since `94 and have plenty of friends there. One even went to high-school with me in the usa, man now I feel old :D

But here in the usa older people just don't fit in with the younger crowds, unlike NL events-clubs along with the fact many of the kids here are just obnoxious.

We really noticed this around 2004-5 and decided to spend our time overseas at big events, I do feel sorry for americans that can't experience the difference.

Also wanted to say we were in Belgium back in august- Brussels, Malmedy , Bouillon, ect.... we spend roughly 1 month in Belgium & NL every yr.

Not counting party events %)
