Last night I went at a glitch hop event in Sydney (Tipper at Manning Bar for those of you playing at home.)
Prior to coming in I had dropped three tabs, an amount which I was comfortable with and had experience with at similar events.
The come up and initial part of the trip was nothing concerning and definitely manageable, however during the first few songs of the set I was dancing near the front and noticed a few guys spill a drink on me. First I thought nothing of it, and continued to dance and have fun. Until it happened again, and I immediately jumped to the conclusion it could be GHB or something else that I might be justified I worrying about. The guys were both looking at me suggestively and I was apprehensive and almost scared, so I tried to move away from them and dance on the other side of a friend. I pushed it out of my mind and continued to dance, but kept noticing them getting closer and soon I was noticing the effects of whatever it was.
The best way that I can describe it is feeling like I was "outside in" or that my astral body was partially detaching from my physical body, but not quite leaving it. I felt as if my "body" didn't quite fit into my real body, and was turning and moving in a very angular, geometric manner. It appears as if the feeling was common amongst others on the dance floor and I interacted with the other people noticeably.
The physical feeling appeared to be tied in with a change in perception. I would put my hands on my friend but they would feel as if they were three people away. I would dance and turn my head and suddenly I was in a different part of the room. Other people would act on and react to my own dancing and our personal space boundaries seemed to fit together like a geometric puzzle.
The feeling was something I instantly recognised as having happened to me once before, at a similar deep house event, and was not at all unhappy about, considering when it had happened at the deep house party I had attributed it merely to a new batch of LSD and had an incredible night. That said, as I didn't understand what it was, how it had happened or what was to happen, I was confused and apprehensive about the intentions of the guys spilling it on me.
People, predominately the guys I mentioned earlier, seemed aware of the way I was feeling, and were smiling in what appeared to be recognition but I'm not sure if this was my own anxiety about what was happening clouding my perception. In retrospect I doubt if it was happening it was at all malicious or sinister, but rather a "we've brought you in on a secret" kind of recognition. Understandably though, by this point I was just really confused.
Unfortunately I don't have many friends that have been involved in the psychedelic scene, so upon telling my friends this that night no one could explain it to me, whether to tell me I am paranoid and it was nothing more than a high enough dose I'd taken earlier, or to verify my theory that whatever was purposely being spilt on me was affecting me in these ways.
I don't understand what it was? What it does? Whether or not this is a common scene thing that I am merely too inexperienced to know about yet, or all in my own head?
Can anyone shed some light and help me piece it together?
