I'm not sure where to put this because I didn't find a suggestions section so if a mod can move it to the right place would be nice.
I suggest that the privilege of editing posts should be removed from all users except the staff team, 15 minutes after a post was made. In other words, I make a post, I have 15min to correct grammar mistakes, phrases etc. and then it stays and I can't ever edit unless I ask a moderator to do so.
Everyone edits everything at all times, It's impossible to know who said what. Anyone can say anything because they know they can edit their posts even a month after it was made. This makes the site unreliable and can cause tons of problems.
Problem #1:
Wrong statements can be changed, numbers, statements etc. Someone quoting the original statement is not a solid proof to others because he can himself change the quote while replying.
Problem #2:
Legitimate posters who edit posts within 15 minutes of posting time to correct grammar mistakes get blamed days later of editing and therefore falsifying their own statements. Anyone blames editing in such a manner, even mods.
Problem #3:
What people write in the past must remain as proof. If a situation arises and the person realizes that his previous posts or claims might expose him in way, he is free to get rid of the evidence by editing and therefore falsifying his posts.
According to me it will be a huge step forwards to have this privilege removed. Post if you agree with this, your opinion is important, too bad polls aren't allowed.
