It's a tragedy when someone dies (naturally or (in particular) prematurely) for any reason, regardless of social class, fame, notoriety, publicity, and so on... I'd think people would be more sympathetic given the numerous untimely losses this site has experienced. I agree, numerous people of all ages and situations die every day, and it's not national news b/c a. it wasn't something they could make 'salacious' or b. it wasn't a high profile case. It sucks all around, but saying whose death is newsworthy and whose isn't seems moot when the real issue is that there are people grieving at the moment - the same way many of us (myself included) have grieved when we've lost loved ones. The bottom line is two children are now without a mother, a husband is without a wife, and a father has outlived his own child.

Celeb or no, that's soul crushing. But I'm not here to change how anyone thinks. If you wish to focus on this 'injustices', please go ahead, I just wanted to express condolences for a life cut short from a young girl who seemed (on at least a surface level) to be getting it together and excited about her new role as a mother. R.I.P.
 
This is so sad. I always thought Peaches was lovely, wild, and fun. She'll be missed. :(

But if nobody knew who they were why would they get any attention? And why would they be the kids you knew anyway? Why not fill the paper with all the kids who die in India every day?

some tiny 5ft 15-year-old got chased out of his school, followed, and stabbed up to death up the road from the one I went to (Zac in this video). I think it only made the local papers for a day or two.
I don't really agree with putting anyone's deaths in the news. It serves no purpose.




It was a bit messed up because the kid didn't do anything to anyone, I think he had friends in a gang so he automatically was labeled as a member and offed by a rival gang.

As far as I know none of these are 'revenge' killings or anything, it's always the good ones that die.
(I hope this isn't off-topic).

It was a very similar event that finally got me to stop pretending I couldn't swim at all just so I could continue lessons in the nice, heated kiddies pool and instead have to use the main, bloody freezing adult pool. Was only me and one kid left in the kiddies pool. He was (sort of) a friend but he was also the school "scabby kid" - the one every class has who just stinks worse than any of the others for whatever reason. I was just ambling (couldn't choose a much more inappropriate word to use for the given form of motion I realise) along swimming underwater with me goggles on - trying to do a length completely underwater - whilst scabby kid was lurking in the far corner. As I neared the end of the pool he swam past me and appeared to have left something behind. And he had. I think I managed to clear the water before the water clinging to me did - rarely has a tubby kid moved so fast. And certainly not gone willingly from nice, comfy warm pool to bastard cold other pool so rapidly. Shitting on your own doorstep is one thing, but in your own bathing water?!? 8(
 
I have rarely gone swimming but have also encountered the infamous human turd in the pool phenomenon, huge commotion followed, whistles going off, lots of shouting and people going frantic, you'd have thought there was a shark in the pool or something.

On another occasion as a kid the whole family went swimming in an outdoors pool, when it started raining everyone got out, we didnt, my mother rationalised that 'how silly' everyone else was, as what does it matter if its raining when you are swimming as getting wet really isnt an issue. It didnt stop everyone else regarding us as bonkers though. :\
 
Aaaaaaaannnd the entire subject of Peaches Geldof's sex symbol status and its effect on how her death is perceived is bypassed in favour of - reminiscences about finding shit in swimming pools.

I don't even bother despairing anymore. :| =D
 
Good, because its hardly uncommon for a thread to go entirely off topic on here. I dont know what else can be said about Peaches Geldof's death until further facts surrounding the case come to light. Aplogies for continuing the off topic conversation. It does seem disrespectful, and she and her family deserve better. :o
 
You're probably right.

Although to my mind, if the thread were to turn into a discussion over who knocked one out over Paula Yates back in the day, that'd be more interesting still.
 
Yes, of course, an entirely natural progression. I'm 'hip' to this place now, so I'd expect nothing less.
