I didn't used to appreciate old school Floyd, seeing as how I got introduced to them with Dark Side and beyond, but in time I have really come to appreciate the Syd Barrett era. So unique, so strange, so psychedelic. There's nothing else remotely like it.
Exactly that, I’m glad you shared that because it reassures me I’m not so off clock in my own strong view that like you say, exactly, there’s nothing else remotely like it, remotely being the perfect word.
Stratosphere! I like a few tracks from Early post Syd Floyd, Any Colour You Like, Comfortably Numb can’t not love too.
But then the only non Barrett Floyd I might play is the 2 later minus Roger Waters Albums, Momentary Lapse of Reason and the Division Bell.
Gilmour was and is a man of extraordinary light. He matured magnificently over decades. Roger Waters is raved epic about, but never has been my own cup of tea.
“Sorrow” on Momentary, is equally a favourite ever Floyd track as any. Never gets old.
@Cheshire_Kat Bike is class sure, though I’d still say I much prefer Arnold Layne.
But Gerald the homeless, ageing, good mouse...lol!
And the Scarecrow “....except when the wind cut up, and the mice ..run around..on the ground.” In that fast electrical intensity way LSD specifically feels.
No LSD, no Pink Floyd as we know them, in my strong view.
And all the Psilocybin in the world, for it’s terrific marvel, would not have seen the same result in the early music. I believe.
He just...”Reached for the secret too soon”! November 11th 67 I consider. One particular trip may have altered him irreversibly in magnanimous ways.
Hence....soon after, the Jugband Blues and a totally, totally broken man.
I’ve never enjoyed that track, or Madcap Laughs. Too painful and pitiful for me.
Anyway, home from chiropractor saved my life for now, amazing. Tripping lots there, vaped Cheese Haze cross just prior.
Seeking comfort, rest and healing now. I redosed 120 ug plus a vape, kava jar.
