i don't know if i could do online dating, personally... i think i'm just constitutionally unable to approach anything on the internet with any intent other than tr0lling

plus i don't like putting personal info into their databases, i prefer to be kind of a ghost on the internet. like you won't find me on any social networking sites or anything like that.

my friend Kristen is a total internet troll. has nothing but bogus, hilarious info on her OkCupid. she still has gotten a lot of dates from there. =p

i miss that girl. she's a bartender in boston now.

Yeah OkCupid seems like a pretty legit site. I have had 2 girls message me already and I haven't even finished my profile yet. :D Neither is very attractive though, but at this rate I probably won't have to wait long!

that's actually really crazy xorkoth, you must have a handsome profile picture with a well written profile. the guys that run okcupid have a blog where they post a bunch of statistics about various ongoings of the site, and iirc something like only one out of every 15 okcupid conversations is initiated by the female. the men send like 90% of the messages on there.

or maybe you have a six figure income listed =p the guys that list higher incomes also get more messages, heh.

lol I used to have an okcupid but I 'disabled' it or whatever now that I have a girlfriend.

I had lots of conversations that went absolutely nowhere seeing as how a lot of girls on there are kind of crazy. It's strange how many of them are pregnant or just had a kid and are looking for a father on okcupid. not to mention the number of fake profiles

I haven't heard of any success stories before. Maybe it's because i'm in philly lol. Good for you guys who actually found suitable partners.

i'm listening to some good old mogwai right now

I was in a post rock band for like 3 years man do I miss getting to perform onstage and really putting my soul into the performance. I wish I could do it tripping =D that's why I have so much respect for legendary rockstars that killed it in front of festivals all fucked up on speed and acid and god knows what

What was the name of your Post Rock band?
And by the way I love Mogwai. I've seen them live many times. Such an amazing experience every time. With how loud they play you get captivated into their show from the very first note.

i think what you're saying is partially true, xorks. but big pharma also does a lot of good for the world too. i used to work in big-pharma sponsored medicinal chemistry research and i'm really proud of the work i did, it was dangerous and potentially exposed me to a lot of carcinogenic crap on a daily basis, but i felt like i was actually contributing to the greater good.

Originally I was planning to go into pharmaceutical research. I had pretty much all the pre-reqs for the graduate program. I only had a few science classes left but had to stop since I was dealing with allot of health issues. I really didn't see see my self get in since I had to drop and repeat some classes and didn't do great in all of them since I wasn't feeling well. Even if by some miracle I did get in I didn't see me being able to finish grad school with how I was feeling. It's upsetting because it's something I really wanted. I ended up taking a 2 year break from school. I went back last fall and I am going for computer programming right now. I'm trying to work past my pain and make things go right this time.

nice, i often wish i had done programming instead of chemistry. its such an extremely useful skill to have nowadays, and if you have good business sense you can really do a lot of innovative entrepreneurial stuff with your skills and make a bunch of money. the tech business environment is ripe for that kinda stuff right now.

i also think cryptography would have been a good field to go into, i think i would have enjoyed that. codez and cyphers and algorithms and all that.

yeah, its done all the time actually. you just have to make sure you take all the pre-reqs

i ended up forgoing grad school for now, but i may go back at some point. i'm thinking about maybe an MBA if i do, i did a minor in business so i already have the pre-reqs done. if i wanted to go back for computer stuff i would probably have to take a handful of additional undergrad classes first, i've done the math and entry level computer science stuff, but i would have to take a bunch of programming courses i think.

i've got a few entrepreneurial projects i'm working on now though, so hopefully they'll work and i won't have to worry about school again. i was so burnt out on it by the end that i just couldn't imagine going back to academia any time soon.

I did computer science, I'm really glad because I enjoy it greatly and have a great job. I hope to go back to grad school sometime, I just got my bachelor's.

I have a friend who just told me he's been taking 4-aco-DMT a few times a week and he's never felt better in his life.

then he told me he did lines of cocaine and 4-aco-DMT all last night and watched james and the giant peach 8o

I can't even fucking fathom that hahahahah what a nut. he's the first person I did K with and he's quite the psychonaut, he told me about a few times he smoked really high doses of DMT right as he was reaching the peak of a really high dose K experience. whataguy lol

edit: I hate it when I write posts that are stories about other people because it seems like I'm swimming haha.

re-edit: Rog, when I read that you had such an extensive background in chemistry it changed my perception of you so dramatically I laughed really loud and woke my girlfriend up. Not that I'm laughing at you, it just made you that much funnier because you're so educated

lol re-re-edit: Laika I'm afraid I can't disclose that information but we only had one EP and it was our early songs that weren't that post rocky. PM me and i'll gladly send you it though. two of my old bandmates are now electronic music producers that are going to be playing the SXSW festival in texas next week but my spring break was last week so I'm not gonna be able to go with them :(

^ word Roger. Easier to read than to live by however!

<3 mogwai....seen em many times, including early UK shows and their first US tour...so loud, beautiful, and such feckless Scots early on..

<3 org chem...dropped out junior year, had the skillz I needed haha...I am actually a shite chemist, more of a hack...but several of my routes are on the rhodium archives..:) oh and evena more shite of a student...went back a few times to finish....I think my gpa is like 2.0....all 0.0s and 4.0s haha

Now that I'm a distinguished felon and getting a " real job" is near impossible, well, farming it is. It fits. I think we evolved to be close to our food source...mind you, I'm still full of piss and vinegar and angst, but gettin better all the time ;)

i just loaded a couple old Mogwai albums on my iPod last night.... Come On, Die Young (my favorite by them), and Young Team.

the newer stuff is good too, but those epic old tracks are hard to beat imo. the new stuff is sort of a bit too electronic-y for my tastes... still awesome, and i don't mind when it shows up on my iTunes shuffle (i have every album by them), but the classic guitar driven stuff is the bees knees of Mogwai material imo.

Nice, didn't even really crash after that eph although today is a sorta a resting day. I'm going to take that blessing and invest it in healthy things <3

Have never really listened to Mogwai a lot (no reason), but I used to like Explosions in the Sky a lot / still do, and have seen them.

By the way we talked about how Matthew mcConaughey and Woody Harrelson would only have limited interest in acting in a series like True Detective, so how come they are both executive producers? Is it like: the more they invest the more they make? Oh yeah I guess that still does make sense.
