MorningglorysEP - December 2013
Prerelease just for Bluelight.
Song List:
A: Theme Song [written by MGS)]
My favorite recording. All the tricks in the book, varispeed, phasing, delays. Psychedelic as they come.
B: Lay of The Sunflower (featuring BK on vocal) [written by Robert Hunter]
Dedicated to Chaos By Design. This is a Robert Hunter song. Song showcases my new 'post iboga' bass playing style, playing chords and lead work in addition to standard 'low end' handling. Song is way out of my singing range, so my good musical partner Brad stepped up to the role. He also plays the lead stratocaster guitar.
C: Hollywood Forever Cemetery (featuring BK on vocal) [written by Father John Misty]
Dedicated to Eris. BK on lead vocals. Probably my best recording, fidelity wise. THe vocal echoes trail off forever, and the bass work (timing and tone) is pretty different for how I normally play.
D: Let It Grow [written by Eric Clapton]
For Lou Reed. Strange, quirky cover but it gets really trippy at the end. I'd call this Lou Reed and early Trent Reznor covering an Eric Clapton song.
E: Theme Song Reprise/Jam in 'E' Then Varispeed [written by MGS]
Recorded in September, mixed Nov-Dec 2013
Come on, take 15 minutes out and have a listen. Yeah I've presented these songs before but these are the final works and a product of 'parallel mixing/bussing' which is an old technique, but new to me and wow does it make a difference. Besides sounding AMAZING, this is a trippy little EP. It was indeed mixed for the hallucinations, I may have even a cup of tea or two when I did the mastering! And be a critic if you listen, for mostly second rate songs (3/4 are obscure cover songs), I think it's pretty damn good....but clue me in on anything to improve!
Thank you!
