The TV show isn't anything remotely close to the books, is it? I actually haven't seen it but my cousin (who also loves the books) says that Richard is a whiny little bitch in the show, which is pretty much the polar opposite of his character.

Yeah he is an amazing author, such intense emotional impact. His characters are more realistic and vivid than any others I've read. I love them so much, they seem like real people who I know well and admire. He uses violence and darkness to juxtopose the love of life. Utterly gripping and beautiful writing. I wish I still had some of them to read for the first time but honestly, each time I've read them (separated by years), they're even better than the last time, as I've gotten older. And I love how the first two/three have a more innocent feel to them, of simple good vs evil, and then the full character of the themes comes flooding out as they progress. The moral and ethical themes explored are so complex and deep, and intensely relevant.

When I was younger, the first time I read through them, the Wheel of Time series was my favorite, but now I realize that, as good as those are (my second favorite), they don't hold a candle to the Sword of Truth.

Wheel of time is on my list. It's just intimidating, because the series is so long. Once I start, I'll feel obligated to finish, and that's a BIG commitment! Have you read the new additions to the series by Brandon Sanderson? I'm interested in how well he pulled it off--I'm actually a huge fan of his mistborn trilogy.

Since we're recommending books, I would hasten to guess that you epic fantasy lovers out there would really appreciate The Belgariad. Good series for sure, and with a similar theme of growth from innocence and black/white morality to incredible maturity and shades of grey. Also a bit of the classic Mormon-style ascendency/hero-becomes-godlike storytelling which seems fairly ubiquitous in a lot of fantasy literature.

I'm sure you mean well, friend, but you've posted this in two threads that I've seen now. Why don't you just let the thread you created stand for itself? People will come if they're interested!

On that topic, though, I glanced over it and was glad to see that you seem to appreciate the lower plateaus of dxm. It's always good to see people preaching the virtues of moderation over excess. Personally, I find dxm at relatively low doses to be interesting, but I'm not particularly enthralled by it's higher dose potential. Though perhaps that's a function of my distaste for drinking that much syrup.

The tv show was pretty good if you watch it on it's own, but it's nothing compared to the books. Doesn't even really follow the same storyline.

I fell in love with Richard and Kahlan when I was reading those books. Goodkind did such an amazing job making them seem like real people. Whenever I read those books I had to make sure I set aside a nice chunk of free time, cuz I wasn't going to be putting it down anytime soon.

I actually haven't read the wheel of time series yet, although I own several of the books. If you're comparing it to the sword of truth series I may have to start reading them sooner rather than later!

@InteresringFact the Belgariad has to be one of the best series I've ever read. I got so into those books, I just couldn't wait to find out where the story was going to lead.
 
Yeah they're real people to me, I actually think about them a lot. They're super inspiring to me.

The Wheel of Time is awesome too. The characters are not anywhere near as realistic as Goodkind's characters nor are the themes as deep, at all. But certain aspects are phenomenal. He does an amazing job of conceptualizing a rich, diverse world, and describing and detailing the various cultures and their interactions. Also the "magic" equivalent is so cool and a really interesting idea. Actually if you read them you'll see a variety of close parallels in the concepts of some things to the Sword of Truth. The Wheel of Time is a lot less graphic and gruesome, but also less glorious. I used to like them better when I was younger but I no longer feel that way.

Also, Robert Jordan (their author) died before writing the last 3 books (there are 14 of them), and Brandon Sanderson took over and did a phenomenal job finishing them, I think he's actually a better writer. The last 3 are the best ones. I think Robert Jordan had some emotional/women/love issues and it comes out in his writing, often humorously, and sometimes annoyingly. When Brandon Sanderson took over, the writing became much more emotionally intense and the people seemed more real, and less characterized. Anyway, it's still my second favorite fantasy series, it's really great and awesome and well worth reading. Even longer than Sword of Truth though, most of the individual books as well as the total number of books.

I'm going to have to check out this other series you mentioned, Belgariad it is?

It's kinda depressing at my house today, alone, in the middle of 2-3 days of steady, gloomy rain, hiking plans ruined, and my roof is now leaking in 3 places... fucking fun. I've got no means by which to fix the issue, and it'll only get worse until I do. Hard to believe at the moment that a week ago I was having fun in the sun with my family, as happy as I've ever been.

Oh well, I'm just having a moment... it's all good. :)

I bought 10 beers. Did you know that you can't buy alcohol here after 9pm. Is there laws like that in US? Also grocery stores can only sell max 4.7% alcohol drinks and there is this special liquor store called "Alko" where you have to buy everything else; wines, stronger beers, spirits etc. Can grocery stores sell booze there?

Sup thenightwatch btw, doing dissos nowadays? :D Weeks go by so fast when you're working lol, I got lucky and got summer job in the library. Not too much work these days when there's so few customers because not many people come in the library when it's this hot hehe

^^It's state by state. In TX you cant by liquor on Sundays and you can only buy beer/wine b/w 12p and 12a. Weekdays it's 9a(? I think) and 12p. You can buy beer til 1a on Saturdays.

I've heard California sells liquor in grocery stores
 
michigan sells liquor in grocery stores. its next to the milk at my local wal-mart.

haven't really been doing dissociatives much at all. i just don't have the time for it with how much / hard i've been working these days. i've done DXM on a few saturday nights, and even two days later at work on monday i can tell i'm dragging ass more than i would if i'd stayed mostly sober for the weekend. thinking about ordering something tasty for my birthday that is coming up, though... (29th of july).

glad to hear you got that job back, though. :) you were pretty bummed when you were unemployed for that little bit.
 
^Yeah I love to work again, it's so easy an funny job really. And co-workers are the best, I never have bad feelings about going to work every morning, I love it hehe. That's 10 times more important than the salary isn't it? :)

I also got into university which begins in September. Don't have to worry about the future in next 5 years :D Life is going so great that I don't know what I have done to deserve all this happiness =)

Hoping to order some MXE soon and this one vendor said they got some ketamine coming soon. Hope it's S-isomeric!

But I've had some thoughts that it could be good to take a break from drugs again, even weed and these beers. I smoked weed every night for a week and it seems so much. Drugs feel so much better when you take breaks..

I'd also like to try 3-MeO-PCP but I have never seen it here.
 
i've gotta take a break from weed here myself. they're going to be doing random drug tests at work soon. also, i'm going to be starting college next month and will likely be looking for a new job (part-time) and will probably have to do a drug test for that...
 
In Illinois grocery stores and many gas stations sell hard liquor. Northern Wisconsin, liquor is literally everywhere.

I had an epic night last night... so much fun. MXE can be really, really fun. I had exactly enough left of my original gram I got quite a while ago to provide the perfect experience for myself and two friends. :)
 
Had an amazing time with DOC, myself :)

snorted 3-4mg or so and had a VIOLENT come up.. was tripping major nuts within 15 minutes at least. It all seemed to level out into an amazing experience though, fucking ORGASMIC and extremely relaxing.. though nicely stimulated and energetic at the same time. Very unique drug!
 
Yeah it sure is, glad you enjoyed it so much. :) I actually took DOC yesterday as well, 3mg at 9am, orally. Had a beautiful, deep experience, at first I had to work through some anxieties and negative feelings but then it transformed into a glowing, and as you say, almost orgasmic experience. I felt SO good, physically, mentally and emotionally. And then later the MXE combined brilliantly, it was so perfect.
