It's been a great 2 days.

I felt like ass yesterday morning, but over the course of the day I started feeling better. I went out after work to run some errands... my intention was to run errands and come home, watch episodes, and sleep. Instead, I found myself near my friends' place (the ones I jam with) and I thought, "hey, I have my new congas in my car, I'll stop by and show them/set them up". Well, I got there, and we listened to some of our jams from before Christmas and I got all pumped up, and started feeling really good, not sick at all. We smoked some weed and I decided to stay and jam. Right when we were about to start a jam where I was playing keyboards, the cheap free keyboard we have broke. Guitar Center is right by their place and it was still open for 20 minutes so I ran over to look for keyboards. They had a cheap $80 one but it didn't have touch sensitivity (ie, no matter how hard you press it's just one volume), which wouldn't do, and their next up was out of stock (the same cheap keyboard with touch sensitivity, for $160). So I got their next one up on a impulse, $220 but pretty nice. I brought it back and we opened it up, and I discovered it's WAY better than I thought when I bought it. It has recording/loop capabilities, 489 voices, and a pitch modulation lever, plus it's a whole octave larger. And it can play rhythms you can play along to to practice. I was as excited as a kid on Christmas.

We laid down some jams, and it was fun.
But I exerted myself and stayed up late and this morning I felt even worse... cough was worse, my chest hurt, and I felt generally shitty all over. Around 2pm today I couldn't stay awake so I took an hour and a half nap at work (they knew I was sick and they're cool like that), and I woke up with no cough and just residual chest soreness. Woohoo! So I went to jam some more since I got invited. I helped my friends finish soundproofing/encapsulating the playing/recording room, and we smoked weed and played around with my new keyboard a whole bunch. I probably played it for 3 hours tonight and I got a lot more comfortable and figured out a bunch of stuff. I got to where I was consistently coming up with cool stuff along with the beats the keyboard was playing.
So exciting.

I've been feeling the NEED to get back into playing music for years now, and it's been more and more painful to not be doing that. And now I'm doing it.
And tomorrow is NYE! I'm going to a delicious early potluck with my girl and then we're going to get together with people and go out to a funk show or something. And I have Thursday and Friday off. I suspect I'll feel at least 90% tomorrow because it feels like the sickness has passed.
