Just put up some Halloween decorations for the first time in a decade. I noticed last year that not a single house on my street had any decorations, so I said to myself, "Next year, I'm not gonna let the most enjoyable of holidays go unnoticed by the children of this street!" And sure enough, here I am setting stuff out, before October has even arrived
Some kids from down the way came by and were ogling at the fake spider webs and headstones I put up. Their parents are hyper-baptists so they don't believe in anything fun. I feel that all children should get to experience the fun and frights of Halloween, so it made me happy to see that these kids' curiosities were still being tickled despite their parents' repression. There's been such a backlash against Halloween by conservative parents in recent years, I felt that it was my duty as a citizen to express that I like Halloween, and I'm not afraid to hide it!
