Maybe Xorkoth, but business is about usefulness and practicality foremost. I get what you mean but are they hurting people with that if it serves a purpose? If so, I'd be interested to know how.. :)
In the sense that very sec it may just be true that some fractions of the population consume certain things less. Or it could be I'm not understanding what they mean by silent.
Not that I am not freaked out by targeted marketing (profiling), obviously that is spooky to put it mildly. Like the plot of the game watch dogs 2 (which has to do with that + hacking).

I mean they're not going around telling 70+ year olds they're part of the "silent generation" or anything. I'm sure it's because they have little impact on product forecasting or whatever. I just find it a distasteful/strange name. Some people I work with agree.

Perhaps they're referencing the 'silent majority' who voted in Nixon? They'd be 70+ now.

It's never even been close to legal where I live, but it sure does piss me off to hear about that. I've got a family trip to Cali planned for early summer and there's no way in hell I'm not gonna hit up a pot shop and smoke down hard. Fuck you government!

I hate to break it to you but you probably won't hit up a pot shop. You can only do that if you have a medical card.
The recreational thing doesn't kick in till 2018.
You could do what i did on my last Cali trip and meet up with a Bluelighter who will hook you up. If that doesn't work go to Venice beach, those black dudes trying to sell you mix tapes also sell weed to tourists. You could also get a medical card on Venice beach even as a tourist for like $40, but why do that when you can get it from the homeboys.

While there were many civil rights leaders, the "Silents" are called that because many focused on their careers rather than on activism, and people in it were largely encouraged to conform with social norms. As young adults during the McCarthy Era, many members of the Silent Generation grew to feel it was dangerous to speak out.

So now that Herr Trump has declared war on the cannabis industry, smoking pot is an act of defiance against the fascist regime, right? Time to pack another bowl for freedom, justice, and the American way!

In other depressing political news, the paper of record is now banned from White House "press briefings." Pretty soon it's just gonna be a room full of Breitbart and Stormfront 'journalists' pitching softball questions to Spicer, isn't it? I guess it kind of doesn't matter, since he refused to answer questions from CNN and the NYT already, but still - I miss the days when I at least felt like I might be exaggerating slightly when I called Trump a fascist.

How goes it, folks? I've been reading a leftist historiography of Stalin like the stereotypical tankie that I am, and my best friend's bday party is tomorrow, so I'll call this a productive week. Not as productive as the unprecedented successes of the Five Year Plans to modernize Soviet agriculture and industry, of course, but more productive than the Trotskyist conspiracy to overthrow Stalin and the Bolshevik leadership.

This seriously bums me out. I'm cancelling my trip to see my grandparents for their 60th anniversary 8)

Obviously I'm kidding, but damn will it suck if I have to hit up black market fuckers in fucking California. I can do that here already and probably get a better deal...

I went to Mardi Gras tonight with my gal and a bunch of my friends, I had a blast... but my girl and I had a long talk upon returning home, and she thinks it best that I quit drinking entirely... and I agree with her. It's just so hard. It's not even that great of a drug but you can do it anywhere, even on a fucking airplane.... how the fuck can I avoid the desire to intoxicate in situations I normally wouldn't be able to? I mean I love speed and opioids when it comes to social intoxicants, but neither are sustainable habits...

Hi Help (:
Sending good vibes back

You know what would be really freaky? A movie about two guys in the semi-far future just chilling future-style and watching a movie, one that is set in their past, 2017... not sure what it would be about but it seems funny to try and replicate what they think our time is like, with a lot of gross unrealistic generalizations or assumptions we might make about our past..

still following? ok i smoked a little weed so what

LOL, I like this idea. I can imagine two different kind of films. An absurd humor comedy, with lots of hints at how the future from which they are watching is like, and a hilarious take on how they perceive our times... O a slightly more serious movie with a pretty critical tone, using the "third person perspective" to try to take an outsider look into our society. Would be pretty psychedelic in a way.

Yeah I like the "anthropologist on mars" perspective xD

Had I known that it would be relatively quiet even compared to yesterday (regarding noise from carnaval - I live near the center of the city), then I would have taken ETH-LAD. Tomorrow will be the 'big parade' though and I wouldn't dare try it then.

Just some Glenlivet for now :D and making some stuff

how is everyone doing? I'm feeling a lot better since I last posted here

Doing pretty well. About to go to band practice, or maybe we won't practice due to various considerations. Either way I'll be chillin' with my buddy(ies), listening to music, and/or playing music. Took some AMT earlier and gonna come up soon. Good shit. :) I've been spending the last few hours tearing up the nasty carpet in my upstairs, turns out there are beautiful hardwood floors to match the rest of the house underneath. The person who owned this house before me did a bunch of renovations and was such a fucking idiot about it. Everything was done in the lowest possible quality. When I bought the house there was a beautiful wood-burning stove in the living room, I was so excited, great way to heat the house in the winter. When I moved in it was uninstalled and sitting on the back deck. I asked about it and they were like, oh yeah, that was the last renovation, we figured no one would want one of those, it's so rustic. I was like, fuckers! People who buy a wooden cabin-house on a mountainside in Appalachia WANT rustic! Now I have an 800 pound iron stove sitting on my deck still, cuz I can't move it. Been thinking about putting it back in but I don't want to pay someone to do it and I'm nervous about doing it right, definitely don't want my house to burn down.

PD, your urgent attention is required.

I have too much of the things I don't like, and too little of the things I do.

How do I fix it? ;_;

Start moving the other way, start incorporating more of what you like, and doing less of what you don't. I've found the doing of what you like precipitates the latter though. That's a bit where I'm at to be honest.

Seems like solid advice. Maybe I just can't wrap my head around exactly what I want, so I'm at a loss as to where to begin looking for it? Causing me to do silly things like take excessive drugs to fill the void.

O.K., I can't resist posting this; it made me grin:

Ah, yes. I know the feeling... What are you thinking you want so far?

What's up xammy? I'm glad to hear you're doing better. I just started meditating and doing yoga again so I've been feeling much better as well.

The Vietnamese didn't even have a written language until the 15th or 16th century, some Jesuit priest or some other came there and decided he'd make them a written language, and that's what we have today. Hey, I remember something from college! :o

One of my best friends from college, we've remained close since then, came up with a really great idea that he wants me to partner with him for, to utilize my programming skills for it and collaborate ideas and such. I won't say what it is, but I was unsure whether it would gain much traction, and my girlfriend thought there was no way. But my friend, who is basically the networking guy, the one who is selling the idea, has already gotten a lot of interest from some influential players in the relevant industry. People have offered to partner with him for my role, but he wants me to do it. There are people offering to design a mobile app already (something I'll have to learn to do, never delved into there yet but I've been curious). People asking when it will be available (the idea was presented to me like 4 days ago 8(). A little intimidating because it would the biggest project of this type I have been involved in. But certainly within my abilities. Might have to sacrifice some of my leisure time for a while. Not gonna sacrifice music. But this could end up being a big thing and very profitable for both of us if it all works out. Pretty exciting. :) This friend is a great guy to be in business with, he does a bunch of stuff and is generally quite successful, really good, trustworthy guy, also people love him so he finds himself with all kinds of opportunities presented to him all the time.

That's cool, man. And always good to know the movers and the shakers, better still to be one yourself. If you have time, you should take the chance, accepting that it might not all work out like you hoped, but knowing that it very well MAY!
