Talk to the admins man, I'm sure it can be done. Forums get pruned all the time by hard deleting old junk and peoples' post counts aren't affected. There has to be a way it can be done; maybe just hard delete the threads.

I know admins have figured this one out, otherwise prunings would keep everyone's count surely under 10k.
 
It would be cool, although impossible, if active PD members could still view the old threads for rereading amusing/helpful posts :P

Why can't you just move the old threads to like a mod/admin only section of the forum (I'm sure there is one) so no one else can see it yet it still exists?

Today I was given a 28 strip of 30mg codeine tablets (with no paracetemol etc, the thing states it only contains lactose, stearate and laxtin, which show no results for concern in google. I have no intention of using the whole thing, (I have no interest in opiates) I would just like to see what it's like as I have it in my posession, any advice on dosage and/or effects if in combination with psychedelics (I plan to try it while coming down on some 4-aco-dmt) as I honestly have no idea.

this is # 3 in that list for the 70s. I think it is one of the most influential albums on how indie rock bands play guitar.

But if someone REALLY needed to grab something from an old one, the mods have the ability to look into all of them.

I think we should keep the last few threads up for a few months.

I'm all for privacy, but we need to have some continuity as well. I hate not being able to go back and see something that was relatively recent. Sometimes I like going back to posts that are fairly recent, but I almost never go back to posts that are more than a few months old.

Making older threads inaccessible is a great idea, but I don't think sealing off the thread so quickly is a great way to go about it. We can let the last few hang out, and when another one gets closed, fold the oldest one in the queue back into the void, and add the newest one to the front of the queue. Am I explaining myself well? I'm not feeling very articulate at the moment.

But as far as my personal opinion, for whatever its worth to ya, I emphatically implore the PD mods not to stow the social threads away so quickly. Give us some time to adjust, so it doesn't mess up the flow.

I think this would be a great compromise between the juxtaposed opinions on this matter, as well.

LOL, and any chance of making them accessible to Crew as well as mods? :D ;) (but srsly, nepotism ftw! =D)
 
as a counter-intelligence measure, it isn't much to make the threads invisible. if we were under serious surveillance, "they" would be logging the stuff anyway ... only a casual adversary would be thwarted by the ephemerality of the social thread

That's exactly what they did. Mods can still see it. They just unapprove the first post in a thread (which makes every post in it unapproved). Unapproved posts are still on BL but not public and don't count towards a post count.

What admins often do though is clean out old junk from forums to save hard drive space and clean up the board, they do this by "hard deleting" as in gone forever, like deleting a file from your computer.

When this is done, somehow peoples' post counts aren't affected. If it was affected every lounge whore would have an extremely small post count.

They're still floating in the interwebz...google cache.

I like the idea of being able to go back and search for a post I made, but in the case of PD social, I suppose I'm cool with whatever the consensus may be.
