Folks have only run into me in a near catatonic post-hole dissociative state where I've vomited everywhere and barely capable of speaking in response to queries, hahhaha. (as you can see, I'm more the type to get angry for the intrusion rather than feel sorry for folks seeing me in a sorry state). Though I sympathize with your distress at the distress you inadvertently caused.

Do you have trouble nodding off opiates alone, or just like to be able to use a lower dose? Mixing with benzos is kind of dangerous (coming from the man who mixed opiates, benzos, and GBL. lol hypocrisy).

Also, I've never passed out in my chair, I always seem to make it onto the ground first, even if I don't remember it. (I've never really nodded hard enough to have the fall asleep in the chair problem :()

No, not at that dosage (unless you were opiate naive, but if you were wtf are you doing sniffing 8mg hydromorphone). I just consider it a bad habit to get into, 'cause even if you (and I) have so far been cautious about the dosage, tolerance would mean larger doses, and one may increase the dose to compensate more than they should, and then the accidental OD happens. Though I guess so long as your use is kept in occasional binges or whatever it might be okay...

I'm not sure about the combo. Some people seem to prefer the pure opiate nod, some like it like you...

Congratulations nearjat on post 2222 ;)

Hmm, need to get to sleep early tonight :/
Boss needs me in an hour and a half earlier than normal.
Does anyone have nay ideas on something I can take to nod off easier that I may find around the house? Never really put any thought into taking something to but me to sleep before. Or to make me sleep easier.

milk is supposedly good for things like that. a little something sweet too.

that, and not thinking too much about going to bed and just relaxing...

and regarding the mushroom bonanza earlier, i used whole grains, rye, between 50-50% casings of vermiculite and coco coir, with previously harvested ~5-6 flushes (some were a bit late), with only a recasing after the 3rd flush. really, it was more like i didnt wait enough because i had run out of places to stash it all, i mean the last flush i just gave away to some friends for lack of space. but with this just in, ill make an effort. i mean even with degradation im bound to get a few solid trips even if i hide it under my pillow for 2 months :)

Get some melatonin tablets and have them handy. They can be found in most health food stores and some drug stores. Melatonin is what the brain produces when it gets dark and puts the mind in a sleep oriented state (your eyelids get heavier, you begin to yawn).

I've been taking it occasionally, usually after some partying or tripping when my mind is racing. For me it has worked wonders, like getting to sleep 11 hours after taking two tabs of strong acid (previously impossible).

Anyways... just sayin'

Melatonin and diphenhydramine are the OTC drugs of choice for most, I would recommend them.

^^^ As someone with chronic insomnia, I second those recommendations.

Melatonin isn't super potent for me, if I'm really wired it won't be enough to knock me out, but it definitely helps and it doesn't lead to any hangover/grogginess in the morning.

DPH is very sedating, but tolerance builds up pretty fast with nightly use, and it sometimes has a 'paradoxical stimulation' effect sometimes (more often at higher doses) that is kinda uncomfortable and is definitely counter-productive for a sleep aid. I use this one sparingly to avoid tolerance, it's great in a pinch.

I dunno how it is in Australia, but doctors in the US write sleep aid prescriptions at the drop of a hat. Zolpidem (a.k.a. Ambien) is very potent but has some weird ass side effects. Ramelteon (a.k.a. Rozerem) is my new favorite for frequent use. It basically acts like ultra-potent melatonin.

Haha, from what I've heard, US writes ALOT of prescriptions right off the bat. ;)
How long without use does it take for tolerance of diphenhydramine to reset itself?

EDIT: Melatonin seems the way to go for me.

In my experience it doesn't build up super quickly, I can use it 2 or 3 nights in a row at the same dose without much tolerance, but any longer than that and it starts to become a lot less effective. I'd say as long as you don't use it more than 1-2 nights a week on average, that should keep tolerance down. If 25-50mg doses don't make you drowsy anymore, you probably need to take a break and then use it less often. The weird stimulation side effect gets much more common, for me at least, at 100mg+, so it stops being useful quickly if you start having to up your dose due to tolerance.

I will third the benadryl and melatonin. Im scripted klonipin and they do close to nothing for my insomnia. I save those for anxiety and take a benadryl and maybe a melatonin too when I need to sleep.

Melatonin is great! If taken at appropriate dose it can improve the quality of sleep, and it doesn't give any hangover effects.

So I second melatonin. 1-1.5 mg should be enough.

I never got why people put imho instead of just imo, I mean, I really wouldn't expect your dishonest opinion, Rog (pronounce that with a soft g), your character is not in question here, we trust you. <3

Aside: took about $10 in gas round trip (plus $11.50 for food), but it was worth it for some Five Guys. Hells yeah, East coast style. Well, drinking/walking time is now, so see y'all in a bit.

Yeah, I meant humble. I tend to put that when what I'm expressing is only my opinion without any research or specific reason behind it. lol :D

So, in practical terms, we might replace "in my humble opinion" with "in my [admittedly] unqualified opinion"? Or possibly, "this is my opinion but I don't want to sound pushy about and create controversy, so I am making myself sound as obsequiousness as possible, regardless of how certain I am of the veracity of my statement" in some cases.

I dunno, I'm uncomfortable with that 'h' because it might become a weapon in the wrong hands. There is really no value in asserting one's humility, that is something that will be evinced by their actions. An unscrupulous or quarrelous individual might throw on that 'h' to an incindiery statement as a sort of carte blanche. I think if one wants to mention something as opinion they merely should say as much, and may further warn as to the qualifications of that opinion if they so choose.
Going to Milwaukee tomorrow for my cousins wedding. I hope I find some cutie to spend the festivities with. Been lonely as shit lately
Booze helps with the loneliness. Of course you can always do what you proposed, you needn't resort to the methods of the perennially lonely.
