There's a cold, arctic wind blowing through here tonight. It's snowed about 3 inches in the last day... not a lot but no snowplows or anything out here. It's times like these where I'm really thankful that we have things like electricity, without which I would be huddled somewhere trying not to freeze to death. In the rest of the year it can be really easy for me to think about how much I'd love to just live off the land and drop out of everything, but the winter brings back the reasons started doing it a different way in the first place. Avoidance of death and injury.

I always like it when it deep-freezes like this... the world is so still, just covered in white. As long as I'm inside with some heat anyway. :) And even then, I'm glad that it's supposed to get relatively warm after tomorrow.

Last winter, we had 2 solid weeks of temperatures of 10s to 20s, and below 0 at night. In the middle of this there was one day where it snowed 16 inches in 24 hours and we lost power for 4 full days. There's no plows to clear the roads and it's a steep mountain road so we couldn't leave. It got down to 34 in the house, almost freezing. We had to huddle in our bed with our cats under the down comforter with oil lamps in the bedroom to be able to keep warm enough. At the beginning it was kind of an adventure, and we expected the power back on any time. But then the next day it was down to maybe 48 in the house and the power didn't come back, and the sun was only up until like 4:30 because of the mountains. Every morning we kept hoping we'd wake up to lights on, and nothing. After a while it started getting pretty scary because we really weren't prepared at all... not much food to fall back on, no backup non-electric heat source. Needless to say, I was ecstatic when at about noon on the last day, only a few hours after I had to start working from home, I walked out into the hall and saw an electric light!! :)

Nice nearjat... your avatar is quite descriptive of the energy I'm getting from you. :)
Haha thanks for pointing that out, because for a while I was like "that's not me anymore". But it has been for a bit now :)

Stuff about winter

Yeah dude I have a really strange relationship with winter. I hate it sometimes, I get seasonable depression. But when I get things working for me it puts this really interesting mystique over everything...makes me appreciate shit more. Because I see the cold desolate place I could be right now, but thankfully am not.

Just realized I said "seasonable depression" instead of "seasonal depression. But it's pretty funny so I won't edit it out.

Crazy ass story

Hot damn dude that sounds insane! One of those not necessarily positive experience that's bad enough to learn from but not bad enough to cause trauma haha.

Ha! That reminds me of something my wife said yesterday when we were getting blazed. She was looking at a leaflet for some store for Christmas shopping, and there was a bunch of food on the TV at the same time, and we were hungry, and she says "Oh man, I gotta get me some these discountages!"

The heartiest of breakfast foods combined into one word with holiday consumer incentives... I love English. :D

lol that's a good one

not exactly the same but similar idea: not too long ago a high friend looked at a chair and claimed that it was '3d on the outside.'

still working that one out. ;P

Americas funniest home videos is a really weird show. Its funniest videos but if you stop and look at the video, this person might have just been injured maybe paralyzed from some dumbass thing and its just LOLOL. Even worse is them selling themselves out for the video to be on national tv to maybe win some money, or are they just trying to have a sense of humor with the whole situation.

It is on the other hand kind of cool because unlike today with youtube and our phones, these are similar but since they are a little bit older most of the shit is like oh look its johnnys birthday and grandma trips and falls. Randomly catching that moment when your filming something completely different. Filming that random crazy moment instead of omg i whipped my phone out to record this right nao.

Im just rambling though. Lazers pew pew.
