I laughed at the methylenedioxy-pollywog lol.

Thanks. :) Yeah that was my second time doing MDA. I like it more than MDMA, it's a really, really fun drug. Takes a bit more out of you though.

That's pretty cool, I think my time with MDMA has mostly passed honestly but it would be cool to try MDA still, especially if it's more fun. :D Hopefully it'll finally show up one of these days.

By the way my friend just posted a clip of our show that she recorded with her phone. Not the greatest quality but it's not bad, if you are interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zvi3hx_zwqs. The guitar player's high E string was broken. This is the jam section of one of our songs, it was the last song of our set. Not the best example of his guitar playing because he was in a funk that night, but it's a pretty good example of me. :D

Sounds nice! I put it on in the hotel room between vacation activities and it was enjoyed by all. :)

I only realized how much I dance around while I play when I watched this video.

That's a good thing lol. It reminds me of an old DJ friend of mine who was always very lively whenever he was doing a set. All the other DJs at the club just looked bored compared to him, and their mixes were usually not as exciting.

Just unearthed some infographics, some serious, some satirical, that I made 2-3 years ago. You may have seen these back then but I found them and they made me smile, I hope you will too.

First off, nomenclature.

Hahahaa. Nice!

Hadn't had a drink in a week today. That's the longest I've been in a very long time. Had some anxiety, irritability and scattered feelings, but hasn't been too bad. Needed to break the cycle. Even though I have had benzo dependencies in the past, for some reason, I don't get that bad of withdrawals from alcohol. Never have really. I was only drinking like 4-8 drinks a day but still too much.

Even had a few frustrations and didn't drink. My team had a horrible loss, my boss pissed me off, typical stuff where I would normally drink. Think I'm going to go a while longer, maybe thanksgiving. I don't have a problem with the occasion, just don't want it to creep back up on me, like it usually does. Right now it's just easier to not do it all. Going to be very careful about any drinking in the future, that's one addiction I don't need or want at all.

^^ That's smart man, good call. :)

Last night that girl who I have described in our band, the girlfriend of one of the guitar players, came to us with something I could hardly believe. I mean she came to us in a nice way about it, she's really been trying and doing a pretty good job of acting reasonably and peacefully since we all basically told her it was necessary for her to stay in the band. She was like, hey guys, you know <insert song here>, it's about my boy friend's ex-girlfriend. Well, it drives me crazy that he has a song about someone else, would be cool with it if we changed the words to it? I think it's totally reasonable that I would feel this way, and I don't want to, so we need to change the song. We were like, ummm, no 8). I told her that if she really thinks about it she'll see it's her problem, not his/ours, and that I truly believe it would help her out in her life quite a lot if she could learn to get over it. People have pasts, and songs are written about feelings that happened at a given point in time. He's not singing the song because he thinks his ex-girlfriend is amazing, he's singing it because it's his song, and it marks a life experience. The conversation was a friendly and peaceful one, but I could still hardly believe she feels so insecure that she wants us to change the lyrics of a song he wrote. And another song he wrote about her that I really like he always says we're not doing that anymore... I never knew why but I think now I know.

Morning y'all

So, a member of a car club I used to be part of (back when I had the black hole in my bank account known as a Nissan R33 Skyline) decided to start a thread in the Health and Wellbeing section of the forums titled 'illicit drugs'. What bothers me is that this guy is (or was) someone I'd listen to on the subject to some degree, being a pharmacist with plenty of years under the belt. Alas, the OP:

aka euphemistically as party drugs, recreational drugs etc

should be called Fark Up Your Brain drugs!

These are the most evil insidious things on earth that will infiltrate demotivate and destroy future generations in what has been a great country.

They've progressed from pot to lsd to heroin to speed to coke to ecs to ice to flakka...

All cause a spike in a variety of up to ten or eleven brain neurotransmitters aka endorphins and leave the user dead in the water. The nice spike can last hours or only a few minutes.

By chasing after the original hit - hit after hit -
a) families get screwed up
b) money goes to the drug lords and down the chain of command
c) chromosomes get affected in offspring

Do you know people who've just 'lost it' on drugs? Alcohol is not illicit but yeah, it's a sleeper...

How the hell can someone possess a tertiary academic qualification in that field and believe the above? (rhetorical, lol...)

My sister is studying medicine, but knows absolutely nothing about illicit drugs, or how they effect the brain/general well being of a person, and yet she acts condescending towards drug users (and of course me). She literally broke off her friendships with the only girls at her university who wanted to be her friends because they were 'potheads'.

^Bigotry is an easy thing for society to program into a person.

Anyhow, got the catheter out today! I'm feelin' pretty darned good about it, though things are still tender.

I dunno, as an exceedingly insecure person, I feel for her on this one, yet it is wrong of her to try to violate the integrity of a piece of art.

Blessings to all you guys. Keep up the righteous work. Things are coming together in unprecedented ways. If you are in need of faith, feel free to reach out.

^^ And blessings to you too. :)

We had a show last night... it went so well! I got the best compliment I've maybe ever gotten from this old man who I was talking to outside before the show who ended up staying to see it because of that:

Me: "Hey, thanks for staying and listening!"

Him: "You guys were phenomenal! I'm an old man, and I love music and have seen a LOT of it, and I've spent a lot of money to go to shows that weren't nearly as good as what I just saw. You guys can change the world with what you've got. When people go up there and play with passion and excitement and emotion, it touches something deep inside. And that's what you've done tonight to me. So thank you."

The band we were opening for was staying at the house of one of the band members, and so afterwards we all went over there to have a bonfire and chill... those guys are really cool. I was up until almost 6am though... tonight I suspect I'll be pretty drained. Gotta do a practice with the other band and a show with them Wednesday... lots of shows recently, there was one Friday, one yesterday and one tomorrow.

Also Wednesday I'm marrying two of my best friends! They want me to do it so I got ordained online in like 5 minutes, so I can legally marry people in most states now. =D

Man... I'm looking to start a credit card account now that I'm older and I need to build credit if I ever want to get any loans/buy a car/buy a house etc. And my freakin God is credit confusing. I'm trying to figure out if it's physically possible to use a card for simple things, like gas every month, or food every month, then pay the bill in full each month so as to not accrue any interest, and not have to pay anything on top of that.

If you pay your bill in full by the due date each month, do card companies still charge you shit regardless of a $0 balance? What the hell is APR and how would that apply? I'm so confused... I hate this country.

^^ It is definitely possible to buy simple things like gas and pay it off immediately. I think there is a daily interest accrual, not that it's going to be more than pennies if you have a really low balance. I've been through the credit gauntlet, ended in bankruptcy after quite a lot of years and a tremendous ending amount of debt (due to opiate addiction and a non-working/non-functional spouse). That was a year and a half ago, just recently I got an offer for an unsecured credit card (with secured credit cards you have to put a deposit down up front for the entire balance), and got it, so I can start rebuilding my credit. What I do is, once or twice a month, I buy gas or groceries with the card and then pay it off in full right when I get home. That way I don't incur any interest charges and I have a bunch of payments posted that reflect "paid in full". Actually I think that as long as you don't go into a new billing cycle with a balance, you won't get charged any interest if you pay it off in full on time by the end of the billing cycle.

You get some manner of negative marks if your balance goes over 50%, and then again over I think it's 80% (and maxed out is worse). It's really best to use them sparingly and pay it all off each month, and only use it for something more in an emergency (in which case they're nice to have). I agree it's a smart idea to build your credit up in this society, most notably because if you ever want to buy a house your interest rate will be lower the higher your credit score is, and that makes a tremendous difference with a mortgage because it's such a large loan amount, even half a percentage point will lower your monthly payment and the total amount you'll spend in the life of the loan. Or a car loan, or you never know, someday you might need a loan of a different sort and it's much better for you when you have a high credit score (not to mention you'll be sure to not get refused). I think it's weird that they charge people who show evidence they're less able to handle it a higher interest rate, but that's how it goes.

APR means annual percentage rate... though most companies charge interest daily or monthly (usually they just add on a charge of the amount of interest accrued in a month, at the end of the month in one chunk), it's calculated from the APR. If you let a balance sit for a whole year, that APR is the percentage of that balance that will be charged in interest. If you had a $100 balance, and a 20% APR, you'd be charged $20 in a year, but just 1/12 of that each month.

EDIT: read Xorkoth's insight over mine. Mine's regarding an Australian card, and the way we work stuff is likely different (going off a quick glance of what he's said).

Plus he's got the most valuable experience on this subject of most of us I'd bet.

What you want for your purposes is something that comes with an 'interest free period'. Most card offers here are 55 days interest free, which means from the first day in your statement period (let's say the 1st of the month) is 55 days prior to the date which the minimum payment for that period is due. So here's an example if we assume 1 month = 30 days, each statement (or 'invoice/bill') period begins on the 1st and rolls over on a monthly basis (so ends on the 30th), and you have a 55 day interest free period.

All purchases made using the card between the 1st and 30th will appear on the same statement. The 55 day period begins at the beginning of the statement period - 1st of the month - and usually the minimum payment is due at the end of this 55 day period, which would be the 25th of the following month. Once the 25th day of the following month has been passed, the balance owing begins to accrue interest at whatever the accounts rate is, until the amount owing has been paid.

What this means is if you pay the FULL amount for the statement period by the due date, you will not incur any interest charges, as once you've passed the interest free period there is no remaining balance to charge interest on.

Annual fees etc are separate of course, so you can still 'pay more than you spend' if you count those.

Also something to note regarding avoiding interest: at least in the case of the card I've been using for the last few years, if you fail to pay the full amount for that month by the due date, the entire amount owing on the card, including purchases made AFTER this period that have not been invoiced to you on a statement yet will begin gathering interest, until the entire amount owing has been paid. It's fucking BS, coz you could have $50 on your card > statement is issued to you > you immediately make a $1000 purchase > stupidly forget to pay $50 statement by the due date > now you need to pay $1050 (plus whatever tiny interest it has already earned) in order to stop the accrual of more interest.

I've NEVER paid interest on my card, and it has no annual fees. I've also undesirably maxed it out 2 months in a row and still avoiding interest or fees :D
