I've set up a modthread where we can post featured threads. In the post just below this one, you can enter any threads you want to feature on the slider, one per line. They will be rotated just under the main forum header. You can give it an attractive name, followed by a | character, followed by the link to the thread. The link will be to the URL provided, and the text will be whatever you put before the |

For example:

Actually, the URL after can't be a whole URL since the forum turns those into actual URLs, it has to just be the number at the end of the URL. So:

I like the idea, if it doesn't work on mobile, it doesn't... i think most use pc still?

I disabled it for now because it only looked good to those of us with mod permissions in PD. The AJAX call is being called with the user's credentials, and it wasd referencing an unapproved thread.

CFC's solution for The Lounge (he did something similar) was to create a hidden sub-forum under the main forum, and put the thread there, and lock it. Technically, anyone could navigate to the subforum and the thread, but there is no link to it anywhere (except I'd put one in the modthread so we'd know where it is). If a poster accidentally stumbled upon it, they wouldn't be able to do anything with it so it's not like it matters... wish there was a somewhat less clunky solution, though. Especially if I start rolling these out to other forums besides PD, it would become a lot of hidden sub-forums that all just had one or two threads in them for the purposes of this sort of thing.

Nope, definitely more people use mobile these days. Not sure actually, but at work, in our surveys, we see anywhere from 60%-90% mobile users, depending on the audience. I mean even half the mods here are using mostly or exclusively mobile. Hard to imagine, I HATE doing anything but simple Internet stuff on my phone, but it is what it is. Most of my real-life friends don't even own PCs... they only use their phones for Internet stuff.

That said, I am sure I can get it working for mobile, if I work on it some more.
