LONGMONT – According to a recent accident report from the Longmont Police Department, the driver who authorities believe caused a September crash that left two women dead was under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
The crash occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on Sept. 23. Police say 28-year-old Lisa Garcia of Longmont was driving westbound on 17th Avenue when she swerved into oncoming traffic, hitting a truck driven by 58-year-old Therese Woodworth of Dacono.
Garcia died at the scene, and Woodworth was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.
The two 3-year-old boys in Garcia's car – identified as her twin sons – sustained minor injuries.
Garcia's toxicology report indicates that she was under the influence of marijuana and had three times the legal limit of alcohol in her system.
Police say Woodworth also had THC in her system, but that it did not contribute to the accident.
