I recently was asked by a friend to help prepare a stock sterile soln of phencyclidine for storage in a sealed vial and as a thanks he asked me if I wanted any. Well I thought,'I'll give it another go, just for the sake of fairness' as my first experience was a bit er... disconcerting.

So anyway, off I tootle with 4mg (0.4ml of a 10mg/ml sterile soln) to try at some point; last night was the moment. At first it seemed like a slow ketamine onset from an IM injection of the 4mg, but it wasn't quite the same. So, on with the headphones and lie down in a darkened room - all very familiar, but I've had S-isomer ketamine since my first encounter with PCP so that might account for why it wasn't quite as weird (PCP is much closer to the S-isomer in terms of it's effect comparted to plain racaemic ketamine).

First real difference I noted was that I was very much more aware of the strangeness of the experience, not the warm fuzziness of ketamine (I know warm isn't a word a lot of people would use to describe ketamine, but it is in comparison to phencyclidine!). Rather than being at the centre of all the thought processes as I get with ketamine, I felt much more like am impassive observer of what was taking place. The CEV produced by phencyclidine are so much finer and graceful (elegant I think would be a good word), aesthetically much more pleasing, but in their way cold and non-engaging, unlike ketamine that tends to really involve an interaction with the CEV, well for me at least. The effect on music was similar, in that it seemed to separate out all of the individual contributions, but again it was much more clinical in it's feel.

Other than the fact that this went on for about 3-4 hours as opposed to the 45 minutes of ketamine, they are fairly similar drugs - much better than DXM which I found to feel like a poison - only that I now see ketamine (in all it's forms) as being a lot more warm & cuddly than PCP. As I mentioned, I know some people think of ket as a cold, unemotional drug, but if that's the case wait to be astounded by the Vulcan perspective of PCP.

Not something I'd actively seek out again, but if it was offered and the cercumstances seemed right I'd be game!

Forgot to add that the effects on proprioception (where things are with your eyes closed!) were more noticable than with ketamine. With my eyes closed I imagined that I looked a bit like model of a sensory homunculus - well that's how it felt!

The sensory homunculus in all it's glory...

Erowid is in need of some good PCP experience reports.. I like this one, personally. =)

Great report, but the description of the 'detatched unemotive logical observer' send a little shiver through me. I like my psychedelics and dissociatives to be connected. If you follow me ?

Nice report though F & B :) , maybe one day if I have time & space & opportunity I might try some myself!

Any afterglow euphoria? I tend to feel supereuphoric on the next day. This feeling of dopamine overkill will usually fade within a good week.

Pretty interesting, what do you mean by CEVs though, not the patterning that Seratonergics produce right? They are sort of like dreams correct?

Well sort of, a variation on lucid dreaming, but one which at times can fully engage you in it's being the brink of reality feel to it. Ketamine generally produces a series of images that you used to see with virtual reality set-ups (you could tell where the individual pixels were - a synthetic look about it),, always with a flowing motif running through them (conveyor belts, water streaming) for me. With phencyclidine, the predominant images were more pulsating (ships on a stormy sea sort of thing - I repeatedly got this 'Cutty Sark' tea-liner riding the waves image), but with infinitely better resolution than ketamine provides, almost like a painting that had come to life. Some of them were so incredibly beautiful, but in a detached art gallery/cathedral sort of way - heavy on the silent significance & awe!

I couldn't resist the sad trekkie in me that instantly wanted to see it as the equivalent to the way I imagine the Vulcans see things (Y'know, Star Trek, sad old hippies - the comic book store guy from the Simpsons - sort of thing! =D). Just picture Spock on the verge of a k-hole :D

So yeah, I suppose I am experiencing some almost manic, euphoric sort of feeling! It comes in little bursts of fanciful imaginings if you just let your mind wander, which I do tend to these days... but they do make me smile a lot more =D

f&b, please get a new avatar, youre scaring me. i dont really get that type of euphoria that youre describing. instead it feels more forced onto me from the inside, completely unrelated to the experience though. the first time it happened i was seriously wondering where it came from cause it takes a day for me to occur. i never got clear visions like you have them on pcp. its always been great fun though. at very very high doses i find myself in lucid dream like states, quite bizarre at times... like once (im a physical therapist) i found myself in a hospital, as patient though! the hospital had a beach in it and the beds were floating and surrounded with glass. the hospitals walls were translucent (actually more like invisble) and so was the ceiling above me which was the floor of the second floor. it wasnt there. everything was floating. lol this trip lasted hours and hours until i "awoke" the next morning. i mustve smoked about 50mg that night... i did have a tolerance. the material was 99% clean according to gc/ms.

We need to get erowid to do a pcp survey like the one they just did on lsd to get rid of as many of the stupid rumors about it we can

Nah, I'm warm & cuddly, I just like to keep people from getting complacent, which the avatar seems to achieve from all the responses I've had about it!

I wouldn't even want to think about what a 50mg dose would feel like as I have some tolerance to ketamine yet 4mg of phencyclidine produced quite noticable effects. I tend to err on the side of caution when it comes to new drug experiences

:D
There might be a lot of rumors about it. But from what I have experienced, it does induce aggressive feelings towards others (which CAN of course be controlled) and it IS more habit forming than any other substance I have used in the past. That said, it's one of my favourite recreational substances.

Great report! Did you find it easier to recall than ketamine? With ketamine, I tend to lose a lot of the experience later on. I just can't recall it, like it didn't happen. From what I understand, PCP has a stimulation aspect to it, so it seems to me that it would be easier to recall and not to trail off into sleep at some indeterminable point in the experience.

^i agree with that
also... i always thought k was pcp's weird lil bro, lol:)

Not that struck , admittedly I took a low dose. Wasn't going to fuck with it as a first timer (or anything for that matter) and I would have enjoyed if it hadn't been for muscle spasms/tension. These really took the edge of what would have been a very pleasant experience.

Ah, how did I miss that one?? Thanks for reporting! :) I am familiar with that "manic/pulsating" sort of euphoria. I found it comes in starts and then you kind of forget about it until it rises again.

Did you feel that it was much more numbing than Ketamine? I found PCP (or whichever analogue of it I had) to be as numbing to the whole body as coke is locally.

I am admittedly not a huge fan of it though... I find it rather useless in terms of insight, with too many side effects to be considered as simply fun.

Xorkoth: While I find PCP easy to "recall" in terms of trip, I have also found it to be the most time-scrambling substance I ever took, so trying to recall it is very much like trying to figure out which bottle did a few broken pieces of glass resulted from!
