I keep my computer and my gaming separate.

Mainly because of cost. For my needs it's cheaper to buy a console than to buy a top of the line computer in order to play games.

Less errors, to begin with ;)

Also less customization and less community created content.

I am a modder so consoles aren't really an option for me

for controls alone, let alone graphics and total capabilities, pc hands down.

for value for time, money and headache it is consoles all the way.

i haven't played a game on the pc (properly) in years. consoles are it for me.

That would be understandable in the case of FPS (which really shouldn't be on consoles - no mouse!).

But in most cases, player-created content is not too interesting to me... kinda like remixes of songs I like (I posted a rant about this in NEMD a while ago)...

a console is just a pc in a different box.

No. Consoles are proprietary hardware/software computer solutions designed for primarily for playing games. While many concepts and components are shared between the two, they are not fully interchangeable.

Console is great for single player games. I am one for multiplayer online games and feel much more comfortable with mouse/keyboard (and sometimes joystick) than with a console controller. I was real big on BF2 for the longest time. I wish they would come out with a new Battlefield. BF2 is boring as hell now.

Before you answer remember one thing... DO NOT underestimate the power of Playstation.
The graphics card i bought a year ago is moar powerzful ;).

However comparing pc gaming to console gaming is like being asked to compare a car to a plane, they essentially serve the same purpose, except one's much bigger faster and more manoeuvrable .

I grew up playing console, Nintendo consoles for the most part. But now I'm PC, because I like tinkering with hardware, and with some No CD hacks I can just sit down, open my games folder, and simply double click to play any one of my games. I think the consoles are great platforms, but I see no reason to buy another one when I'v got a PS2/1, DS/GBA/GB hardware with tons of games I'v yet to play. And to be honost, most games that come out nowadays just don't intrest me.

I have a PC. I use it for everything. I do not have any consoles. None. This is cost effective for me. I bought the computer, it does many things, if I want a game (which is rare) I'll buy it... I could spend a hell of a lot more time and money on computer games, but I currently don't have very much of either, so it's kinda out of the question... so,

PC equals flexibility to play games or do ANYTHING ELSE you need to do with your comp :)

Consoles, equals meh.

Games are coded and created on PC.
Console games can be emulated on PC.
One can use their Wiimote and Xbox 360 controller on PC.
The XNA GS allows anyone with half a head to create games for Xbox and PC on PC.
Consoles are useful in some respects; I like the PSP as it's handheld, easily modified and comes with an abundance of Japanese, European and American titles whilst the original Xbox can be used as a simple Linux PC...

I would suggest that another option be added to this poll: handheld consoles are fantastic for gaming whilst anywhere, really. Their best games ('Puzzle Bobble 2' is a game that I've yet to grow tired of thus far) are simple and involve challenging mental aspects; they don't require the raw power that a PC does because the games released for them are--I must admit that this isn't always the case--built upon fantastic and unique ideas, whereas PC and console games are copied time and time again!

The Wii is an amazing contender in terms of a battle between consoles as it doesn't rely solely upon graphics or processing power, but imagination and innovative little quirks that the rest don't have: it's tiny, you can wave the remote around like a stick or flick it with your wrist; it's way more fun multiplayer and has inbuilt WiFi and no need for an external HDD. It tells me the news, the weather, the time and loads GC and WII games, such as 'Resident Evil 4' that're fun because of the use of the Wiimote. It's small but has so much to it that I'm left wondering why Microsoft couldn't implement something as useful into their giant console, which has to have a HDD added along with WiFi and doesn't involve any exercise at all; Nintendo have had some great ideas and have proven that hardware is not everything by far.

Anyway, rant over. I would say 'PC', but 'Monster Hunter Freedom 2', 'Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions', 'Bleach Heat the Soul 5' (shush) and 'Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core' are almost persuading me, so I'll not vote. Yet.

The PC will become outdated for gaming earlier than the console. In that, the console will still be able to play new titles through the duration that games are sold for it (which can be about 4 or 5 years). If your computer was 5 years old, I doubt you'd be playing mostly current releases.
