Yes I though it was bullshit til I found out that it wasn't heroin/suboxone withdraw. I didn't even know it was that bad. Its honestly not as bad as dope w/d but it does get in the way of work (construction) so now I have to taper this fuckin shit.

Some quick info: (I haven't been taking paxil for a real long time, just enough for it to backfire)

10mg x 3weeks
20mg x 6weeks
40mg x 2weeks
20mg x 2weeks
10mg x up till now, stopped cold turkey, w/d, 5~10mg a day

The doc did say I would get w/d from this medicine. It not unbearable. Its that with work I cant have this shit on my back. Any suggestions? How long do w/d last for the time ive been takin this shit?

Also, I switched doctors because this guy is a fuckin asshole indian doctor who thinks he knows it all and on top of that the mofo said I was lying about my symptoms. Yeah so fuck him and im going to another shrink but whatever any help would be appreciated.

I did WD from Paxil once, its nothing like opioid WD like you said but its pretty unpleasant. the best is the but your pill in small pieces and take what ever you need for about a week. Dont forget that you must reduce the dose no matter how unpleasant it is.

Yeah man im taking like 5mg a day. Do you know how long the w/d will last after i stop taking it completely. I mean i know that there will still be some no matter how low the dose when i cut it but i was just wondering.

People can only guess, it'll be different for everyone. If you're on a low dose like 5mg a day then I expect it should be comparatively easy.

Paxil is a weird drug for sure. Over a year ago, I was on 80 milligrams of Paroxetine a day. The 'doctor' (she was just a nurse practitioner that knew nothing about anything) was force feeding me this med. When I finally got the approval of my insurance to change doctors - I started seeing an actual Psychiatrist, and he immediately took me off Paxil. It's funny, because he made a point of telling me not just quit cold-turkey and that I needed to taper off of it.

Well - being the progressive person I am - I went cold-turkey. I felt head zaps and some muscle irritation for about week... that's it. It made me believe that all the 'Paxil withdrawal' horror stories were just a bunch of anti-drug propaganda. I mean seriously. SSRI's aren't addictive (anything can be addictive, but when compared to benzo or opioid withdrawals, they're not even in the same ballpark. Hell! They're not even the same fucking sport!

Personally, I recommend cold-turkey'ing Paxil - go through the shit week and then be done with it. Maybe, I'm just the exception and I'm a rare person who didn't feel much in the way of 'withdrawals' from SSRI's, however, I've tried literally all of them. Multiple times from many different doctors, and all I can really say about them is... it's like Caffeine. In terms of what they do - they cause a very 'dirty' antidepressant effect, if anything at all. And, just like Caffeine - where people think they have to have a cup of Coffee in the morning to wake up, people think they have to these dirty, ineffective SSRI's in order for them to feel 'normal'.

If you want my honest advice - take some Aspirin for the minor headaches, and jack-off (not joking) to relieve the muscle irritation.

Hey man thanks for the reply. Yeah I haven't really gotten these brain zaps. Ive been getting dizzy and hot/cold temperature changes. But yeah this med is garbage and I told the doc that an the dumbass increased my dose! Haha he said, well, if you don't have any bad side affects than increasing the dosage will be more therapeutic. He also said that I have to be on it for a coupla months before I can get the 'full benefit' of paxil.

But yeah im switching psychs and going to another guy this Friday. But anyway yeah ill get through this shit an like ya said it aint no dope w/d you know.

I cold turkeyed 60mg several years ago. Head zaps, muscle stiffness, thats about for me as well. As swampfox already said its nothing like opiate wd. Not nearly as debilitating imo.

However, fast forward to today and I'm back on 40mg, combined with 15mg of Abilify and I'm doing..."ok". But I smoke dope, drink like a fish, and pop the occasional opiate pill(s). It is what it is????

You can break your pill in piece like I said you should be able to take them during the withdrawal to have very mild effet and it should only last a week. So after quitting from 5mg to 0. You still can take like quater of 5mg 1 2 time a day. You will feel WD during the time but at the end of the week you should be ok.

Yeah well heres the thing thing man as I said I switched psychs because I didn't like that guy so the new doc started me on Effexor at 37.5mg for 4 days and 75mg for the rest of the month till I see him again. So im guessing I can drop the paxil and jump on this stuff? Since they both affect serotonin will the Effexor stop the Paxil wd?

Ive taken the Effexor for a few days now and the doc said it takes a while to get the full benefit of the med and anything less of 150mg wont do anything. SO I guess he wants me on it for a month and then 2nd month up to 150mg. If I stop the Effexor after month 2 will it be worse? Every SSRI med they put me on either doesn't help or has bad side effects including buspar, wellbutrin, trazodone, etc. I cant remember all of them. They just go from one to the other. But fuck it should I just stop the meds now? From some research Effexor is a lot worse than Paxil?

People say the withdrawals feel like what I felt like when I was -on- it. Heh.

I've tried a plethora of SSRIs and SNRIs and SSNRIs and blah blah working doctors until I got what I wanted and NONE of them and I mean NONE were helpful or effective in any way in months long trials. I never really suffered true withdrawals from them though. I tell docs now right off the bat I refuse to take anything of the sort. I finally have a doctor who understands my history and what I need. I wish you luck in getting off the crap and I am sure you will be successful. Working construction or any labor job and w/d'ing is the worst. I know that much. Good luck.

Took my script twice, then thought about all the awesome drugs rendered useless to my receptors ... Screw That! Never took another, though I did feel better those days. Good luck OP, hope it goes smooth.

^ SSRIs help a lot of people, myself included, and I can still trip fine, but I only take 10mg Escitalopram. I can't roll of course, but as long as I can trip and take stimulants etc I'm good. Raves are still a blast.

But Paxil is easily the worst SSRI - it has a ton of side effects and gives HORRIBLE w\ds.
