Patient confidentiality?

Hi BL. I live in California and am considering to get medicated. One reason I'm holding back is the patient confidentiality. If I do get a prescription, who is able to access that information? Is it like any other doctor and prescription medicine where no one can find out unless they have my consent? If I apply to a job and they want to do a background check, will they find out? How private is this information and who has access to it?

These are the kind of questions you should ask whoever is prescribing you it. I'm sure you sign paper work at some point - perhaps it sometimes contains disclosure to other doctors if you are within their network. I would assume it is generally kept quiet confidential however, perhaps other CA'ers can weigh in... but the real question is ask who is scripting you it, or the majority of the staff.
