Passionflower Tea Before LSD

Does anyone out there have experience with drinking passionflower tea before LSD?

Im planning on brewing a few grams of organically grown passionflower and drinking 20 minutes before I drop the dose.

Is this an effective way to add an maoi effect without having to stick to the strict diet harmala require?
Any info you could share would be awesome.

Yes. Passionflower tea should have a weak MAOI effect. However, this will not change your acid trip, since LSD is not broken down by MAO.

Also, harmalas provide reversible MAO inhibition, so no serious dietary constraints are required when you use them. Just don't eat a pound of cheese while you're on them, and you'll be fine.

I don't think an MAOI is effective with LSD. Certainly doesn't have the explosive DMT effects you get when you add an MAOI to mushrooms.

Yeh I have found harmaline HCL to up the effects of LSD, or at least change the nature of the visual experience.
I just don't like taking such powerful MAOIs, even the reversibles make me nervous. Couldn't imagine going into a hypertensive crisis in the midst of a trip.

Thanks for all the input everyone, planning on giving this a try for the transit of Venus, I'll report back effects and interactions,
in the mean time, anymore info is most appreciated

Some have found harmala MAOIs to strongly potentiate LSD.

That's interesting, I've only tried moclobemide and while it has a massive effect on mushrooms, turning the psilocybin trip into a DMT trip, it had zero effect on the LSD, in fact it might have decreased the effects so perhaps it's not strictly an MAOI effect and more to do with the harmala.

Interesting. Not something I've ever heard of before. I would also chalk it up to some property of harmala other than the MAO inhibition, but who knows. Definitely report back once you've tried it with passionflower.

Don't forget that the harmala alkaloids have psychedelic effects (depends on how you want to define "psychedelic") themselves in appropriate doses.
This could certainly alter other psychedelics' effect profile - independent of MAOI-activity - by adding its own flavour.

That may be the explanation for your findings, Ismene.

Yeah it could be the psychoactive properties of the harmala. I remember in the book "The secret chief" he recomends using harmala with LSD to add a new dimension to the trip as well. I've always found harmala very nauseating tho.

But moclobemide - a non-psychoactive MAOI doesn't boost LSD.
