Hi guys - just some quick advice. I just went out to collect my partner from a night on the town and he is way drunker than I've ever seen him in our 11 years together. He normally doesn't get drunk. He was hugging trees and waving to cars and stumbling into traffic. He wanted chips so we stopped at the store, but now that we're home he basically has passed out. I got him into bed on his side and he is breathing regularly, steadily and deeply. I'm probably worrying too much, but seeing him like this has me a little scared. Is there anything else I should do or watch for?

most of us have been there. it's called getting shit faced. he'll probably feel like shit all day tomorrow, but there's not much you can do about that.

thanks phatass - that makes me feel better. I've put some water on the night stand and will stay awake an hour or two just to make sure everything's okay before I go to sleep myself.

show him this thread tomorrow. he can be happy to have a girlfriend like you!

apart from this: hes just drunk & he'll most likely have a bad hangover tomorrow - liquid will help him, and a good breakfast. :)

cheers

edit: and dont take it too personal when hes a bit gnarly tomorrow....but at the same time he shouldnt take your care for granted.

If you can get him up for a minute, make him chug that glass of water with an advil or two. He will feel 50x better in the morning.

You might not have much luck with that, however if he's passed out.

Was at a get-together a couple weeks back, and this girl got shitfaced and passed out. I got her a big glass of water, and after about 5 minutes finally got her up a little. She told me to 'fuck off!' and went straight back to sleep.

So it became my glass of water.

I wouldn't worry about it. I've been so drunk before that even I was worrying if I would be a jimi hendrix (first time getting drunk). It ended up I was fine and just passed out. My brother left me a drink of sprite on the side and then went to bed.

have a receptacle close by him in case he vomits immediately upon waking. have a few alka seltzers on hand for the day after.

You might want to prop him on his side so he doesnt asphyxiate if he vomits while lying on his back.

Not a probability of happening, just an extra precaution

I think he will feel like shit tomorrow and reconsider getting this drunk in the future

:)

It's totally not cool to give a drunk person advil, that's terrible for the kidneys. It's not good to take advil if you drink more than like 3 or 4 drinks.

Thanks again for all the advice. It made me really appreciate Bluelight as a resource for help.

You're right. OP, I apologize. I do, however stand by the glass of water.

Glass or two of water and a multivitamin helps a lot, I'm with Roger&Me, don't give him any NSAIDs (Tylenol and Aleve included) until he's woken up and no longer has alcohol in his system.
