That is good to hear skeletor. I was reluctant too because I was scared of the "cheese effect", but so far I haven't experienced anything bad as side effects go. I'm on a pretty bland diet, mostly chicken, corn bread, sandwiches, ice cream. Can't eat pizza , sausage/dried meats, soy or Chinese food anymore, but its not too bad. It turned out that Parnate is probably the easiest antidepressant I've taken with regards to side effects. As long as my diet is good, I rarely feel any side effects. I always thought MAOI would have the most side effects, but from what my body is telling me is that it is one of the least harshest antidepressants I've ever have taken with regards to side effects.
It only been a week now, at 30mg a day. So far I feel a little "lift" in my mood. Depression doesn't bother me as much. Seem more resilient. For a few days I did experience tiredness and sluggishness and a feeling of wanting to lay down and sleep on day 3 and 4. But the tiredness started to lift after day 5-6. Doctor told me to be patient because he said MAOI's have a habit of taking around 2-3 weeks and their effects tend to creep up slowly. One great thing is the feeling of hopelessness when I wake up in the morning is not there that much anymore. And I am able to get up in the morning without it becoming a big mental battle. It seems my mind doesn't "think" about it that much anymore.
I go back to work on august 4th. so that gives me another week for the parnate to settle in. Its not a miracle, and I do still have symptoms but I feel the "relieving" effect on my mood which has probably blunted around 60% of it. It will be interesting to see how I function at work next week.
