Paris terrorist attacks

The consequences of funding, arming, and training Sunni extremists in Syria and Libya; that, or Al Qaeda in Afghanistan. Take your pick.

The people of France didn't deserve this one iota, but their government certainly had it coming. The colonial powers have been playing geopolitics with the Mid East for far too long and now the consequences are reaching their doorstep.

I fear for the people of France. The government locking down the country and issuing curfews is only a taste of things to come. I swear, the radical right are taking over this planet and we are in a de facto world war right now.

Eh?

Why would it be trolling? It's a genuine concern. If some terrirists have hurt France how do I know they're not coming here? Yes that worries me. How is that being trolling?

Evey

so you like don't read news sites or watch the news or anything at all? all summer we had immigrants travelling from Syria into Europe via France and on to UK...
There were threads on here too.

I'm sorry, I just guess your utter ignorance for current events comes across as trolling because the immigrants/refugees have dominated news headlines all year. just seems strange for someone who is online near 24/7 to not know about these things

edit: didn't mean to go off there like that

Ugh i don't like the sound of this one bit :(

Evey

Yeah, it's scary stuff indeed, was bound to boil over sooner or later.

Again, didn't mean my post's to appear offensive to you and didn't mean to derail this

The only thing that softens this blow is that Jihadi John was today blown into peices by a US drone strike. I hope he is still burning somewhere...

So they finally got that piece of scum did they? Good!! Try enjoying your virgins in the perfumed garden of delights now your cock and balls are spread all over the desert, you daft cunt.

It's just a shame he wasn't barbarically decapitated with a rusty blade in a pool of his own shit and piss. 'He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword.' My heart goes out to the people of France this morning.

I don't understand how these people can be so cruel. Well from a social-psychological I can, but from a personal n emotional level I don't. I will never understand the complexity of the human condition. Thinking of all who suffered yesterday xxxx

France really haven't had much luck with the likes of the attack on Charlie Hebdo earlier this year etc. It seems for one reason & another they have become a major target. I'm sure there are going to be some big questions about the security situation in France now with so many incidents this year.

Apparently this is the worst attack on France since WWII. Truly terrible times. My heart goes out to all who lost their lives & have been affected. <3

Terrorists Kill Dozens in Paris, Including More than 100 at Eagles of Death Metal

Paris-Bataclan-21.jpg

This story has been updated to reflect new information since the story initially broke.
A number of terrorist attacks have taken place throughout Paris tonight, with one of the targets being the Bataclan music venue where Eagles of Death Metal were playing at the time of the terrorist invasion. Eagles of Death Metal heard gunfire and stopped playing immediately, running backstage and exiting the venue after seeing the gunmen. The 1,500-person capacity Bataclan was reportedly sold out.
According to CNN, a number of people were slain and held hostage at the Bataclan theater. Police eventually stormed the venue, and CNN is now reporting that at least 153 people have been killed overall in Paris, with at least 112 of the deceased at the Paris concert hall alone. A soccer stadium and a Cambodian restaurant are also among the other locations that were targeted in the attacks. Four gunmen inside the Bataclan are now believed to be dead.
Eagles of Death Metal issued a post not long after their show had started that showed that they were playing the venue. After the mayhem broke out, the band issued a statement on their Facebook page that read: “We are still currently trying to determine the safety and whereabouts of all our band and crew. Our thoughts are with all of the people involved in this tragic situation.” The band features Jesse Hughes and Queens of the Stone Age leader Josh Homme, but Homme reportedly did not join the band on their European trek.
Update: All the Eagles of Death Metal members are alive and safe. The wife of Eagles Of Death Metal drummer Julian Dorio has told The Washington Post, “We are just holding our breath and saying prayers for everyone. He called to say that he loved me and he was safe. Everyone on stage was able to get off. French president François Hollande has declared a state of emergency and closed the country’s borders.”
Update 2: In addition, members of Deftones and their crew were at the show, as well, but reports state that they managed to leave 15 minutes before the attack. “Thank you all for your inquiries on our well being. Band/Crew all safe and accounted for at this time. Prayers for those affected in these tragic events,” stated the band on their Facebook page. Deftones were scheduled to play the next three nights at the very same venue.
Radio reporter Julien Pearce was inside the Bataclan when the terrorist raid took place, describing the scene is grizzly detail. “It lasted for 10 minutes. Ten horrific minutes where everybody was on the floor covering their head,” he told CNN. “We heard so many gunshots. The terrorists were very calm, very conservative, and they reloaded three or four times with their weapons and they didn’t shout anything, they didn’t say anything.”
President Obama has spoken about the tragedy, “This is an attack not just on Paris, it’s an attack not just on the people France, but this is an attack on all of humanity and the universal values we share. We stand prepared and ready to provide whatever assistance that the government and the people of France need to respond … We have been in contact with French officials to communicate our deepest condolences to the families of those have been killed, and offer our prayers and thoughts to those who’ve been wounded. We have offered our full support to them.”
France is under a state of emergency, with people being asked to stay inside their homes, and many public buildings shut down.
We’ll keep you up to date as more info comes in. Our thoughts go out to all the victims of this horrendous tragedy.

Can't wait for all the Syrians to come over to Canada! Yay let's invite them all in.

The tragic irony of your statement is that the syrian refugees who are marooned on the european borders or in france itself, are people fleeing these ISIS nutcases in the first place.

IMO this seems like an ISIS attack in retaliation for french involvement in bombing ISIS in Syria.

The USA/UK/western axis needs to admit they were mistaken in funding and prolonging the syrian civil war and get on board with russia in actually taking down these terrorist groups and the ISIS. It is not good enough to say 'bomb ISIS' on one hand, while on the other hand sending arms and training and money to 'moderate rebels' that turn out to be actually al qaeda affilliates. Enough of the geopolitical pisstaking, the global security community should be united in removing ISIS without any hidden agendas like desiring to see bashar assad overthrown etc.

A number of landmarks across the world have been lit up in the French flags colours to show support:

Sydney Opera House:

CN Tower in Toronto:

1 World Trade Center in New York:

Apparently the colours will be projected on Tower Bridge in London tonight...

I can't see it being directly due to that, they only started airstrikes in Syria just over a month and a half ago, yet surely this attack must have taken months of preparation. One would assume at least. But certainly at least due to their involvement against ISIS in general anyway. (just being pedantic, it is about that really... :p)

*edit*

ISIS have just claimed responsibility for the attacks. They also published an undated video saying France would not live peacefully for as long as it was a part of the US-led bombing raids. So yeah, no great surprises there.

Exactly this. It's obvious and as plain as day to all. This can be the only course of action now. Nothing else will suffice.

It's times like this I feel glad to live in Wales. ISIS would have to drive so far out to get people here, they would probably get raped by a load of sheep, and get their car stuck in a field. Either that, or end up at Shambles' house and be drugged to death...

All humor aside, I really do feel for the people of Paris. No sooner did that soldier foil a terror attack on the Eurotrain, this has happened. Love to you all <3

GET AWAY FROM THE SHEEP! They're mine :D seriously Good point. Where in Wales are you? I'm in North Wales near the border.

This is definitely tragic.

If they had the West's technology, they may even be as barbarous as us.

I can't believe I didn't hear about this yesterday. I'm just waiting for the conspiracy videos to surface :| There's probably ten thousand already.

It's not really like we need videos to appear? Al Qaeda key operatives trained by the CIA (Bin Laden), Isis is the same (if you actually look into their leader Al Bagdadi he was also trained by the Americans). Jihadi John was questioned by MI5 previously. It makes me wonder do they brainwash these people, or do they genuinely fuck up that much that they have such key people they've trained go rogue, and let others slip through their very fingers. Very hard to say but you would not expect such fuck ups to be repeated throughout history to such serious detriment so often.

It will be interesting to see how the French react. First the Charlie Hebdp attacks, now this, which appears to be another level of organisation, coordination and man power within the attacks.

I completely agree with what Ceres says about supplying the weapons to Syria. Between Britain and America at one point we were supplying both sides. Which makes you think who exactly stands to gain most from the continuation of war in the Middle East? :\
