Parents warned of alarming new trend of students snorting Smarties

Univision is about to do a 1 hour documentary on the krokodil scourge in America. I wish I could post it here but it's in Spanish.

Haha in highschool me and a buddy snorted wasabi for laughs/to see who handles the burn better. Everybody cracked up because we were like rolling on the floor in pain.

See, this I get. We also did this kind of stupid shit when we were kids like snorting chili powder to see who cried first.

Snorting smarties however, that's just lame. Though I doubt it's as prevalent as this article wishes to illustrate.

Cheese is a real thing in Texas however nobody actually calls it that.

cheese is just a stupid name for a mixture of tar heroin and a bulking agent; usually pills like Tylenol pm or benadryl that have DPH in them; this idiotic name was sensationalized by media outlets in the late 00's as an "epidemic of child heroin use". The article sited above is from 2007.

Despite the overblown media reports, the mixture of tar heroin and; any of the following: crushed pills, caffeine, lactose, talcum powder, baking soda is a fairly common form of heroin sold in Texas. It exists because tar heroin cant really be snorted easily but if you mix a ball of tar heroin in a coffee grinder with some over the counter pills or lactose or whatever, you get a powdery mixture of tiny chunks of tar heroin and powder. Often the tar will get coated in powder and thus can be snorted much more easily.
Many people are willing to snort heroin but not inject, so this form is very appealing to people. Especially in middle and upper class high schools you will find this stuff going around. The lower end high schools will just have strait dope. Sad but true in the lone star state.

I dont know if other areas of the country have this form of heroin in circulation. It seems too simple to be unique, however in the east coast they seem to get a form of powder heroin that is mostly heroin with some cutting agent added. Where as the texas form is mostly filler and only a small percent heroin.

This article is so stupid that it makes me queasy.

Allergic reaction: if the child is allergic to sugar, snorting or smoking Smarties can lead to an immediate allergic reaction

I think that, if the kid ate smarties first, s/he would experience a pretty immediate allergic reaction anyway. Are there any American kids who don't eat any sugar, but have access to smarties for snorting or smoking? Probably not.

Nb. This is my 6,000th post!

anybody remember Jenkem? :D

You beat me to it. Jenkem is an almost perfect example of media hysteria. I found a youtube video with a news report featuring a doctor who listed the long term effects of Jenkem abuse. How can there be known long term effects from a hoax that someone made up? The media has gotten so used to the drug story where any crazy side effect they list goes unquestioned. Snort smarties and get maggots, sure. Krokodial in america, bath salts turning people into zombies. The media still loves a hysterical drug story.

my kid crushes them and poofs them.

she blows out the dust to pretend she is smoking, she wants to be like her mum I guess.

seems to be far less carcinogenic than cigs!

Disco Stu must have inspired them. And it's only a matter of time now until the Smartie-snorters upgrade to a... harder... drug, such as Sour Skittles.

[Meanwhile, somewhere in Rhode Island...]

"Taste the rainbow!"

[The narrator is cut off by a... Skittleholic - who clearly has something he wants to say...]

"Fuck off, snort the rainbow! Double rainbow?! Triple rainbow!!! What does it mean?!"

Ohhhhhhhhhh dear! 8)

Oh man i dont log in for a week and i come back to this craziness. I love how they say that kids that snort smarties are more likely to move on to harder drugs....no really!? Were talking about someone who clearly finds snorting drugs cool so they replicate it with sugar. Id say its pretty likely they have an interest in trying drugs. Oh well. Its already been said. Sensationalist crap.
