he parents of a woman who died taking legal high Ivory Wave have called for the drug to be banned.

Sarah Forsyth, 35, fell into a coma after taking the substance, which she bought online for £18.

She spent 12 days in intensive care and when she started breathing on her own was taken off a life support machine, but died on Saturday.

Be good to find out if this is mdpv/naphyrone/d2pm that killed her.

Im going to try and be positive and say that this will spark debate. You cant have mass hysteria every 6 months and not have any changes made to the status quo.

Oh, we're surprisingly good at sitting on the fence in the UK. Nothing will change due to an under-educated public being influenced and coerced by the sensationalist tripe spewed from the tabloid media.

Regardless of whether this woman died solely from "Ivory Wave" or from poly drug use, legal or illegal highs which contain RCs are something that I won't touch (and others probably shouldn't touch either) for the simple fact that we don't know enough about them.

Would they try to ban alcohol if she spent 18£ on booze and drank herself to death?

they "banned" heroin, people still die from it. as a drug user, you should know and accept the risks of using drugs(esp. shady rc's and legal highs). if somebody dies from skydiving, rock climbing, swimming with sharks on some stupid "getting close with nature" attempt, should ban those activites as well? no, you should always know what you're getting yourself into. you can't blame the drug when the person who died from it took it at her own free will.

"if you don't want to be in harm's way, stay out of it's way. if you choose not to, don't get mad when it hits ya"

IF THEY BAN THAT PEOPLE WILL BE MESSING WITH ALLOY POLISH... OH WAIT... THEY ALREADY ARE?

It's because it's GBL...a prodrug of ghb.

They'll eventually ban this, just like meph, then something with more of a sife effect profile will come around..... round and round we go where we stop...

ban it, anyone who takes this shit is a guinea pig.

A lot of people share your view, but I find it very ignorant. Every drug's effects were unknown at some point; if people didn't become "guinea pigs" we'd all be sitting here completely sober, dying of hunger and thirst. These people just need common sense.

in other news, the families of approximately 50 Americans who fell victim to alcohol yesterday did not receive any media attention nor will they ever.

I'd love to see what happens when they go to ban the "compound" Ivory Wave.

I think I read somewhere (though don't quote me on this) that of the 11 samples that have undergone GCMS tests, 11 different chemical compositions were found. Some contained controlled substances (mephedrone), others didn't, MDPV was in most of them but not all ... It's quite obvious that Ivory Wave is merely surplus stock of whatever vendors have left over, chucked together and flogged to whoever will buy it.

Just what are they going to ban this time?

Getting high?

^ I know half a million people accidentally overdose on aspirin every year in the US. Its quite the epidemic.

How do you accidentally overdose on aspirin? Are we talking about fatal overdoses?

Like ... I can understand maybe going to take a few, and accidentally taking 4 instead of 3, but how the hell do you accidentally take ... well ... with an LD50 of ~1500mg/kg in humans, a 70kg woman would need to take 105,000mg or 105g of aspirin, so ... how do you accidentally swallow 105x1000mg aspirin pills?
:?

It's easy enough with codeine concoctions if you're neglectant, particularly if you're in a lot of pain.

Remember that they can be deadly in the case of brain haemorrhages so perhaps that's what some of the deaths are attributed to?
