Would anyone mind posting a link to a product like the worm tablets? The whole idea gorses me out.. but then again as long as its not hanging out of my ass why should I really even care?

"Pinworm can infect one in five children. Symptoms are itching and irritation of the anus or vagina, digestive disorders, insomnia, irritability or nervousness. Female worms crawl out of the anus and lay about 15,000 eggs per day. Once airborne, the eggs can survive about two days anywhere in your living environment.

Worldwide, about 500 million are infected with pinworm. The worm is white and can grow to about a half inch in length."

So, apparently, they ARE possibly hanging out of your anus. =D=D

Children are prone to pin worms just like puppies are.

Much, much less common in adults.

Is this stat. 1 in 5 children in the US, or the world?

Parasites infect warm blooded animals. The most common way to pass it is animal to animal. Now, one could sneeze on you, and the chances of passing something would be slim, but if you were to EAT that person, your chances would be quite increased, correct? Is there any other way save eating worm-infested poo or the worm itself that is any riskier?

I just want to be clear about this idea, because I was thinking about it and my cat had a worm, and I was scared shitless it would jump around. I imagined the easiest way to get it would be to eat the cat itself. And thus knowing that 50% of dairy cows have utter infections, I wouldn't be surprised what's passed through certain food sources.

Gee, I'm not trying to hint at anything here, guys.. but eating that dead stuff may not stay dead in your intestines.. And now that I'm thoroughly grossed out, I hope everyone catches it (the feeling).

SR--you should be safe as long as you don't accidentally ingest something that came in contact with cat feces. For something as self-contained as a litter box, you should be quite safe.

Its another reason Im happy to not eat beef. Do you know how often worm infections are in animals like chickens or turkeys?

I've heard of rates from 2.5% to 30% in some European flocks. Can't say I know about the US.. at least I haven't found any statistical data.

parasitic worms

Earlier on I had a no.2 and when I was wiping my bottom I noticed what looked like a super noodle on my tissue paper.
Bearing in mind I did eat a curry earlier on which had noodles in it, but surely it would never comeout whole and within such a quick time.

So I kinda think it must be worms I'm guessing from the pics ive looked on the net that its a roundworm as its about 3 inches and yellow in colour.

I suppose this could be why I am constantly hungry, fatigued, depressed, anxious and generally feel like sh1t.

has anyone else had worms?

how do i get rid of it? shall i go to the docs?

hmmm, could also be pin worms. at about any given time, 30% of youngsters have them. they're quite common.

i believe there's actually OTC remedies, or you can get something from your healthcare provider.

you can always have someone do the "tape test" on you while you're sleeping.

(yes, it's exacty what you're thinking.)

I grew up in filthy conditions, and I used to get worms when I was a little kid. THe worst was when a 12 inch round worm crawled out of my butthole and I was trying to shake it out of my pants leg. Eventually, the worms went away on their own.

i looked at 'the worm' which I left on tissue paper on my shelf and it is now like a tiny bit of black string.

opposite of what it looked like yesterday. So it defnatly must of been a parasite.

I guess its cos I eat rare steak, whole fat milk, pork, fish and several times have used my hands to scoop out my dogs food from the tin and put it in her bowl.

shall i go to a pharmacy or health shop?

Parasites need love too, guise..

You all can get rid of yours if you want, but I'm keeping my tapeworms. They are my friends; they're there for me when no one else is!

I think its extremely immature and silly to be so worried about parasites.

Its kind of like, when i was a kid, i dunno maybe like 5 or 6 and my brothers told me about 'dust mites' and how they are all in my bed and in my pillow and all in teh carpet and couches and i think they even showed me a pic.. well i pretty much just BAD BUZZED i mean.. i tried to not walk on carpet and i was sure i could actually feel them crawling all over me feet when i did.

My point is, i didnt know any better of these mites or where and what they were BEFORE my brothers told me.. and i was living just fine. Parasites are just the same, we can live perfectly fine with them and i would go as far to say as they are part of being human.. just like having all that bacteria in our intestines is part of being human and just like how having a light layer of grease naturally build up on our skin is natural.

Unless you are having medical problems, which most people with parasites do not get(not from the parasite anyways) then who cares? Its just like how fleas and cats live harmoniously and how many other creatures in this world do so aswell.

just dont think about it, wash and scrub your finger nails regularly and keep them short, eat your food with clean hands and make sure its cooked properly and you should be sweet as.

Does anyone know by what mechanism parasites are eliminated by either the digestive or disabled/killed by the immune system?

I would think eating spicy food would clean you out. Garlic is a natural antiseptic. I love spicy food even though it doesn't always feel great coming out the tail end. :\

bighooter, your doctor can analyze a stool specimen by sending it to a lab and prescribing you a medication that will kill the little buggers if you have them. I would go with Western/traditional medicine on this one personally. How often do you get to shit in a jar and give it to someone, anyway? =D

it would make sense that spicy food prevent's or even kills parasites in your digestive tract.. could be why alot of 3rd world countries eat spicy food.

I had wormy poo for a few months, but eventually, they went away without medical treatment. I don't ever remember ever having eaten spicy food at that age, but it might speed up the process.

Honestly, a lot of these 'cleanser' things seem to be for peace of mind rather than actually curing any parasites that might be living in you.

I can definitely see how thinking about little parasites that are feeding off your intestinal walls is gross, but it seems like no one here is noticing an obvious health benefit from these treatments. Yes, they may make you feel 'refreshed' and 'clean', but are we talking about going from bedridden to running the 50 meter dash after having this treatment?

Personally, my take on it is; if they're not causing me any obvious health issues (they can have a little of my vit. C for all i care), then it's not worth spending $70 or up on these products. So i agree with moonyham on this issue.
